By overall quality over the course of entire existence, here's how I would rank the Cedar Fair parks (the ones I've been to): 1. Cedar Point (best non-theme park period) 2/3. Kings Dominion (nicest looking, upper-echelon collection) 2/3. Kings Island (Best balance of coasters, upper-echelon look) 4. Carowinds (Fury, decent depth, food is great, mediocre looking) 5. Canada's Wonderland (Nice landscaping and fantastic flat rides but awful collection of coasters) 6. Knott's Berry Farm (two good coasters and okay theming). 7. Dorney Park (Three good coasters and no theming). -

They're mid-tier. Tier 1: Cedar Point, Kings Island Tier 2: Carowinds, Canada's Wonderland Tier 3: Kings Dominion, Knott's Berry Farm, California's Great America Tier 4: Dorney Park, Worlds of Fun, Valleyfair Tier 5: Michigan's Adventure I don't agree with this... Carowinds Tier 2? I'd say Knott's is easily in Tier 2, and probably KD is above Carowinds. At worst, they're in equal tiers. I haven't been to KD in 15 years, and I went to Carowinds a couple of years ago, and I'd STILL put KD at worst, equal to Carowinds! Oh, and Michigan's Adventure is more like Tier 6. There is no Tier 5! I'm going by investment and attendance. I guess you could put Knott's in tier 2 then but still the rankings are accurate. Are you basing this just on Fury being the new hotness? I mean, KD has a Giga already. They don't have a Hyper, but they do have a sweet Floorless, and one of the only launched Inverts in the world. Next year, they'll have an RMC. I just wasn't that impressed by Carowinds when I went there. Underwhelmed, actually, would be an apt description. I guess it's all a matter of perspective, however... I think the RMC might put them in tier 2 but it will have to be a great one. However Fury is the best coaster in the world by many plus Carowinds got I232 and an amazing food upgrade recently. Again, it's by recent investment. -

Not in terms of attention from Cedar Fair. WOF has been ignored as much as Dorney and Knott's is getting their first major new coaster in 14 years. -

I'm pretty sure we're going to see construction starting in July, at that point we should be able to make a more for sure guess. Raptor would definitely fit with what we know, though (~100ft, compact footprint, etc.). Although I'd love a coaster with more capacity... (FWIW, all the Cedar Fair announcements last year came around like August 18, and the KI tease had 816 in it, which is National roller coaster day. So, even if we can't guess, not too long before CF will confirm it). 16th is Kings Dominion, not Kings Island.

Worlds of Fun might get a coaster soon. Omunet stated in an article that Cedar Fair will start to focus on their mid-lower-tier parks now, which means that we'll finally start to see KD, WOF, VF, and Dorney get some love. The sad thing is that Michigan's Adventure will still be screwed in this scenerio. -

It is? Are we basing this off one teaser? If it's one thing enthusiasts do other than smelling and complaining, it's making assumptions I said shaping up to be, not it WILL be. And please: if you saw teasers portraying the grim reaper and a matrix-anthology style, wouldn't you think a dark theme? -
I have my doubts about Georgia Cyclone getting the RMC treatment, at least for 2018. Hear me out: I think it would be an excellent decision by SFOG (believe me, it needs it), but I feel as if construction should have started by now, plus RMC seems pretty tied to two other conversions (including one that is partially a ground up coaster) plus the raptor(s) that are planned to be built. Also, Six Flags seems to be pretty close to S&S right now, leading me to believe that some of their concepts that they've displayed over the past couple of years will go into effect in the chain first and foremost. My prediction is that Over Georgia will get some sort of S&S launch coaster for 2018 (it fills a need and follows Six Flags' trends). However this doesn't mean that Georgia Cyclone won't get love at some point.

^Glad you were able to see that! One thing I really hope is that the back of Candy Apple Grove is made into an enjoyable place. I hope to see not only some theming in the new ride a la Banshee and Mystic Timbers but the ambiance of the surrounding area is modern and up to par with the rest of the park. This could include replacing the cracked asphalt with a nicer material (sidewalk maybe) and improving the landscaping. The area has been pretty depressing and bland for quite some time now. -

So I'm guessing this will be an overbank following the drop. Me likey. Hope this can be El Toro lite with inversions. -
Because that worked out so well. I hope you're kidding. That was the operator's fault, not Gerstlauer. But that's irrelevant because RMC only contracted Gerstlauer because they didn't have their own trains to provide at the time. I can see Cedar Fair opting for the Gerstlauer trains if they want a more open air experience for Mean Streak/Hurler. They kind of did it for Mystic Timbers when they modified the traditional Millennium Flyer trains.

Allow us to sing you a song about how much Cedar Fair cares about park anniversaries where everyone expects major coaster additions... As for the wood / steel coaster ratios thing where you guys don't think they would leave you with only one adult wood coaster and one kids wood coaster... Carowinds says hi. Cedar Point says hi, Knott's says hi, Dorney says hi. Every Six Flags park that's iron horsed a coaster says hi (especially Discovery Kingdom), I could continue... Busch Gardens Williamsburg says hi, even though the surrounding neighborhoods don't want a wooden coaster. -

I have a feeling the announcement will be outside at night since it's shaping up to be a macabre theme like Banshee. -

Intimidator was "slowed" by a minuscule amount. Lightning Rod is reported to be a highly noticeable difference. -

... is ridiculous when you haven't even experienced it. I'm sure this ride is still awesome. Honestly I was never overly impressed with the first drop anyway. It's fun, but not in the same league as a ride like El Toro. I'm sure the second half of the ride is still balls out insane, and that's the best part anyway. This reminds me of when they slowed down El Toro's lift and everone lost their collective sh*t. In my experience it didn't change the ride experience at all. This might be a slightly more noticeable change (emphasis on might) but I'm sure this is easily still the best coaster at Dollywood (and I love every single coaster at Dollywood). PS: Oh, and stop acting like this is coming from "multiple sources", chickenbowl is totally right... you posted it here because Coaster Studios posted it. I won't hate on Coaster Studios but it's run by one (I think) college kid who hasn't even personally ridden the new version and is operating on hearsay. So basically you're going to accept mediocrity? Sorry but I don't. I think it's a terrible idea to slow the ride down. "Accepting mediocrity", dude relax its a roller coaster. I highy doubt its a medicore ride now cause they made one slight change to the ride. Parks have made changes to El Toro, Maverick, I305 and Skyrush, they're all still great. Even if he was "accepting mediocrity" (Whatever that means) its not like you have the option to change the ride back. It is what it is. If it gets their huge investment running consistantly who cares? Intamin didn't mess with the very concept of the rides. Neither did RMC. It is still a launched wooden coaster so whats your point? Slowing the ride down takes away airtime, intensity, and messes with the pacing the ride was built for. We as coaster enthusiasts have every right to criticize the decisions of a company. -

1) You haven't even ridden it (I REALLY can't stress this enough) 2) You have no choice but to accept it. What's the alternative? Bitching on the internet expecting the park to care? Even if they did care (and I ASSURE you that they don't) if they did this to somehow make it more reliable (which is obviously the purpose of whatever they're doing... they even posted that on their website) then if they listened to you and it went back to being broken for months at a time then you'd still be bitching. So for those who "refuse to accept mediocrity" (and by mediocrity we mean a coaster that's still easily one of the best coasters on earth I'm sure) what's the plan? Are you making picket signs and marching in front of the gate? Are you refusing to spend your money at Dollywood even though you probably weren't going there anyway. What? If this is true and if this is permanent (marginally likely at best) then you should probably ride it before freaking out. I'm sure it's still awesome. If anything this will just be an excuse for annoying coaster enthusiasts at the next coaster event to brag to people next to them in line that weren't talking to them anyway and don't care that "THEY got to ride it BEFORE the park slowed it down and it was way better". Actually those enthusiasts are making a very valid point. -

If the speed is going to stay this way and isn't a temporary solution like I305's trims, then they might as well have not built this ride. Nobody wants a forceless, airtimeless version of a coaster this size. That sounds like a BS rumor you'd see on a 15 year-olds roller coaster instagram. Except it's not. There is testimony from many many people. I think your elitism is going a bit far don't you think?
