  1. I'm the one in orange... My friend Lori took this with her (then) new digital camera... It was tough to get the timing right, but I think it turned out very well!
  2. I like the trains! I was amazed at how 'soft' the launch was. I dunno, I like looking at it, and watching it launch, but the ride itself was only so interesting.
  3. The local news chanel did a story on Holiday World, and you can watch the video here: http://www.abc25.com/Global/story.asp?S=4830584
  4. "First ones here.... First ones here!" http://www.philly.com/mld/philly/news/weird_news/14432222.htm
  5. Well, I don't know if SFMM would cut the track to remove a valleyed train, but they did it prior to opening to set a couple cars on the track. And then they had to re-weld that piece back in. http://www.twistedrails.com/sfmm2k1/dec01-11.shtml http://www.twistedrails.com/sfmm2k1/dec01-12.shtml http://www.twistedrails.com/sfmm2k1/dec01-16.shtml As for how other rides deal with it... I've seen them remove the upstops and take each car off Gemini with a crane. I've also seen Blue Streak stall climbing to the turn around and they used a front loader with a cable to pull it up. I've also seen Maintenance guys push Blue Streak (when it was almost over a hill). Dragster stalled on the top at least twice, one of which there is vid of maint. pushing it over.
  6. Nice. This year it's on a friday... But regardless, I'm not asking so much what the normal day is like, just how crowded the ERT gets. 10 min waits... That's cool 1 hour long... Not so much.
  7. I'd like to ask those who've been to Coastermania how they liked it, specifically, how was ERT? Is it super crowded? Or do you get some sweet ridage?
  8. NY, that fear you're experiencing before going on something new... That's something that happens in a lot of areas of life... Meeting someone new, getting a new job, and new career, whatever. This may be the perfect chance for you to learn that fear often makes something you're about to do seem much worse than it turns out to be... That sometimes a new thing you feared actually turns out to rock! And you get to scream and have a good time while you're doing it! Maybe even learn to have the fear, but to enjoy it, because it makes the experience more exciting. I'll tell you why I say this... I don't get scared on coasters anymore, and frankly I really miss when I did! Cause nowadays alot of them seem pretty boring when I ride them. Ahh, the good ol' days when I had to drum up courage to ride!
  9. Ahhh, nice pics! Thanks for posting them... What an awesome ride... Can't wait to get there!
  10. As for why CB (Jeff Putz) dislikes TPR, I think it's cause he seems to basically dislike everyone. Here's a snippet from his profile "Turn-Offs: Stupid people. They're everywhere." From the way he often responds to people, even innocuous comments, it's clear that he really believes this, and that he somehow is smarter than everyone else. That, more than anything else, is why I choose TPR over CB. There you get condescension, here you get friendliness. I much prefer friendliness!
  11. pkdcoaster said: Realy cool..Iron Dragon POV from 1987..WOW that area sure has changed... No kidding! Check out that huge line for Draggie! And the Magnum video shows the turn around before it was re-tracked. Neat!
  12. I've never seen more than 3 trains on Mean Streak, Yellow, Green and Red. I worked there in '91 (MS's first year) and '92, and rode it many, many times in that period. Never saw a blue train. Also, the transfer table, to which they put all trains at night, has space only for 3 trains. Actually, now that I think about it, I was fortunate enough to see it run for the very first time. I remember they were rushing to finish it as the season opening approached. The first week or two was ONE train operation, resulting in 5 hour waits the first day it opened. Can you imagine waiting five hours for that? Of course, it was a little better back then, but not a whole lot better.
  13. It seems to me that the full-full could be heartlined. I looked at my pics of X and it's hard to tell if the half-half is, though it looks as if it may be. The term 'heartlining' has never been an accurate name (IMHO). For example, on a B&M invert, whose heart is it spinning around? The person on the left? The person on the right? One of the peeps in the middle? Also, it seems to be logical that it would actually rotate closer to the riders head, since the point of 'heartlining' seems to be to reduce side-to-side head motion by reducing the distance a riders head moves during rotation, thereby reducing neck strain and bashing against over-shoulder restraints. Now obviously, the trains on 4D's are so wide as to make 'heartlining' effects minimal for the riders, but it could reduce (methinks) stress on the train, by reducing it's centrifugal forces through the roll. Just my 2 cents.
  14. The video doesn' t play... Anyone eles have this problem? (using firefox & IE)
  15. With all the hints the CP Blog has been dropping, I think it's plain that CP will be getting the World's First Inverted Flume ride! I hear it will be called the Floominator. I, for one, cannot wait to ride suspended below the water! It'll be nuts!
  16. Ha ha! Oh man, I remember that Demon Drop advert... That chanting "Demon Drop". And Gemini terrifying? That ad would have worked for the Beast maybe... Great stuff!
  17. Online huh? Like a dating site, or a coaster site, maybe?
  18. Subject pretty much says it all. (Sorry if a repeat... I looked and didn't find any previous topic). You guys seem like such a great couple. I mean how do two full-on coaster freaks find each other?
  19. Yea, if you lose your profile (is that what you're refering to?) you can restore it using the profile manager... To get it type "firefox.exe -p" in the command line (start menu-run) I've never downloaded any extensions, though I might check out that the popup blocker... Even though firefox is supposed to block them anyway, some sites (including an un-named coaster site) has somehow managed to use them anyway. I'll give it a shot.
