^Even though Nrthwnd is pass the half century mark, he knows and likes the classic George Michael song "Careless Whisper" One of my personal favorites. George Michael, will endure overtime, even though he may run into trouble from time to time!
-
Hey where was George Michael's husband? I believe his name is Kenny??? I understand that Britain has recently changed its marriage laws to permit same sexed couples to be joined. I know that Elton John got joined, maybe George did as well??? George Michael did proposition and off-duty cop in Los Angeles back in 1998. The British magazine called the "Sun" ran the classic headline about the incident "George Michael nicked for sex acts in loo" Ouch! (Posted on the Drudge Report) Anyhow, I still enjoy his music after all these years! I'm sure that I own the majority of his CD's. George Michael is a very talented person, I'm sure he'll make it thru this latest incident just fine.

How do you feel about commercials at movie theatres?
BelizeIt replied to cfc's topic in Random, Random, Random
Personally, I dislike all of the advertisements we have to watch before the feature attraction. But, I also understand that theater owners don't really earn much income from new releases. The majority of income from new releases goes directly to the movie studios, rather than the theaters where the movies are shown. Theater owners make their income from advertisements, overpriced popcorn and softdrinks. So for those people who complain about having to watch a Lexus Ad---To Bad For You! You still get to watch a movie that may have cost 50+ million dollars to produce, for the cost of a $10 dollar movie ticket! A good deal, by most standards. -
An interview with Mark Shapiro
BelizeIt replied to TheGreatOne's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Well based on these opinions, Shapiro clearly has his work cut out for him! Lets hope he tunes into sites like TPR, because he could benefit from all of the good advice he receives here!!! -

^Shepp, I wasn't implying that SFMM would do a retheming along the size and scale of IOA. Instead, it would be nice to see a bit more effort put into the rides that have virtually zero theming at all. It's sad when Six Flags decides to spend millions of dollars to build a rollercoaster like Scream, only to build it over the old parking lot, and not even bother to make the minimal effort to remove the painted parking spaces below the ride! I mean even plain dirt would look better than seeing the white lines of the preexisting parking spaces. Anyhow, we'll see what the future holds. Fireworks and Stunt Shows are a nice start, but I'll be hoping for more. -
Wow so it does actually rain in Dubai! Does that mean that your kick ass water park (Probably the best water park in the entire world) was closed today? Anyhow, I'm sure things will be back to normal soon. I look forward to having your Great Country running many seaports in the United States. There is absolutely no reason to prevent your homeland from controlling those vital seaports! People need to get over their prejudices, and allow UAE to do the great job that they are more than capable of doing! I look forward to it!

Barry's secret fantasy is to be able to "fit" into this pretty dress. Then he could become a Disney "Cast Member", and dance down Main Street in his pretty costume. Which he so wishes he could do...

An interview with Mark Shapiro
BelizeIt replied to TheGreatOne's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Good interview, the future for Six Flags looks bright. Six Flags Magic Mountain is not in any way lacking, when it comes to Roller Coasters. If SFMM did not build another Roller Coaster for several years I would be fine with that. What I would like to see at SFMM is a major overhall of the themeing of this great Theme Park. When you look at an truely exceptional Theme Park like Islands of Adventure, they have many great rides, and they have exceptional themeing. If they didn't build another major coaster at IOA for several years, I wouldn't care, because that park has a great combination of original rides and fantastic themeing. SFMM could be so much better than it currently is with a major theme makeover. This new management will get the Six Flags corporation on the right track! -
Sorry to hear about your loss. I was wondering about how long to Rabbits typically live? I see Spike lived almost 4 years, is that about the normal life span for a Rabbit?

Elissa the Celebrity Stalker! (I mean Fan) She's always ready with her digital camera. I remember Mr. Sutherland from the movie "Stand By Me" A great film! I've never had the chance to watch 24, though I know it's a popular show. Elissa, our Female Temptress from TPR, always seems to be at the right place at the right time! More power to you! Get those Celebrity photos!

For myself it would be the Corkscrew. I believe the Corkscrew made its debut at Knotts Berry Farm over 30 years ago. Since that time many other Theme Parks have added this "Arrow" creation to their Coaster line up, though I feel its time has passed. I find the Corkscrew to be less thrilling then many of the current looping elements available on coasters today. Plus, those overhead restraints always seem to click down an extra notch or two whenever you go through a Corkscrew. I've always enjoyed Looping Coasters like Riddler's Revenge (SFMM), but for the past few years I have avoided Corkscrew Coasters like Viper (SFMM).

Well I have not had to chance to watch this show, though I do miss the musical group by the same name.

Waterparks, anyone?
BelizeIt replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The grand daddy of water parks in LA is of course my favorite Raging Waters! This Waterpark is located on 50 acres, and has a wide variety of slides and attractions. It was once the only major show in town, but know it has lots of competition. Otherwise in Orange County Wild Rivers is a decent waterpark, though they could add some more attractions. -
Mundo Divertido Tijuana
BelizeIt replied to coaster1's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Tijuana is a dump! Coaster credits or not. Also, any dreams you have of seeing the infamous "Donkey" show should be forgotten, it doesn't live up to the hype. (Or so I've been told) If you want to visit Mexico to just see the country, then drive a few more miles south and hit Rosarito Beach. I haven't been there in years, but I have visited many times in the past, and my friends and I had many good trips there. -
^Wow is that the view from your house? Not bad. Not bad at all. As for your girlfriends parents, the idea is she sneaks out once they have gone to bed, and comes back home before they wake up. Not so say that she is a naughty girl who would do this every weekend, but perhaps only during the rare occasion when you have been left home alone. Lets face it, most people usually don't wish to be home by themselves.
-
^Long distant relationships always have some disadvantages. At least 20 miles isn't to bad. I believe that Elissa once stated that she and Robb managed to keep a 3000 mile relationship together! That's Insane!!! Uh... I mean for most people, it obviously worked out very well for them.
-
^So let me get this straight. Your 17 years old... You've got the house to yourself... So where the heck is your Female Companion?! I mean how often to teenagers get to spend so much time unsupervised? Make the most of it!

Jason Resurrection & Freddy VS Jason 2
BelizeIt replied to CoasterExpert13's topic in Random, Random, Random
If the studios feel they can make a profit off these endless sequels or prequels they will keep producing them, even if they are complete crap! (There were so many examples of this in 2005) The current twist is to combine different horror type characters, Freddy vs. Jason, Alien vs. Predator, Etc... Sadly, as pathetic as these movies often are, they usually do well during the first or second week in the theaters. For this reason the studios will keep pumping out this garbage for the foreseeable future. Since movies are so expensive to make, the studios like to lower their risk threshold by putting out movies with characters we are already familiar with, rather than introducing a completely new character. Movie ticket sales were down last year for a reason. I hope the studios take notice, and start coming out with some orginal ideas. -
Nice video! It's good to see that Guinea Pigs have multiple-uses, other than just hanging out in their cages looking cute. As for Elissa Banning Soren, that's not likely to happen anytime soon. Elissa likes Soren as much as Robb likes CoasterLou! At worse she might flex her muscles with a temporary (one week) banning/suspension, but never a perminent one! Though I guess it's these types of posts that have kept Soren from becoming an TPR ASSistant.

Two new ASSistants!
BelizeIt replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Wow, we know have even more Ass-istants! What, are we up to know??? Is it Four Ass-istants? Rob and Elissa have watched their popular site grow by leaps and bounds. So I guess they need some help in keeping their site together and civil. This is a great site, I logon almost every day. I'm sure the new Ass-istants will keep TPR living up to all of our expectations! Good luck to you! -
My favorite was the "Magic Fridge", I laughed out loud! My least favorite was the Burger King ad. Their spokesperson "The King" looks really lame! Whereas the Jack in the Box spokesperson "Mr Box" is consistently funny.

Best Roller Coasters in the USA?
BelizeIt replied to dowab's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well I haven't been to nearly as many theme parks as others on this site, but my favorite overall park, Universals Islands of Adventure, also contains one of my all time favorite rides, Dueling Dragons. Dueling Dragons has a great Castle theme throughtout the ride. Whether you ride the Fire or Ice Dragon, you a great and unique experience from each Dragon. I highly recommend you wait for the front seat, because the first time you go face to face with the other coaster, it's unbelievable! -

Nice trip report! Wow look at all of those bright green Arizona lawns! It must be nice to have an easy to maintain rock-scaped front yard. (I always hated mowing the lawn, pulling weeds Etc...) I have some family friends who live in Arizona and they love the heat. Though they admit that the heat can become overbearing at times, especially when it doesn't cool down much at night. -
sorry about the double post.
