The adventure of Lil' Robby Robb
jedimaster1227 replied to FLIPDUDE's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I love the fact that you used Son of Beast as the topic for #32. It is one of my all-time favorite wooden coasters (at least the version that had the loop)... -
I have spoken to Ricky Brigante in the past and he is a pretty nice guy. He is way more into Disney that most people I know, but he isn't the craziest podcaster I have met... That title goes to the kid that runs the 3 or so Everything Disney podcasts. Too bad none of the material he uses is actually his, or used with permission... I caught him using my footage once and that drew the line for me. Some podcasters are really nice, specifically the guys from Coasterradio.com, In The Loop, WDWToday and the Bare Necessities section of the Lets Talk About Disney podcast. I find it interesting that Disney finally announced that they lurk on the boards, considering that most of us knew it was happening (at least on one other forum) for a few years. I think they will be more amused than informed by the comments recieved on different topics, as some comments made just aren't too kind. The Monster's Inc. Laugh Floor is a perfect example of this... It wasn't all his fault you know... He actually did some good for the company during his time at Disney...

Photo TR: March Break, Florida 3/10 - 3/17

^I believe that the similarities are intended. At least one of those characters from the display is from the former parade. Here is a photo of the original puppet: http://pages.prodigy.net/stevesoares/photos/millennium/tap03.jpg. -

Its scary that they are using toys to represent these characters from the former Tapestry of Dreams/Nations parade from Epcot's Millenium Celebration... But, the puppets still are used at the park on special occasions like New Year's Eve. -
Re-Organizaing TPR's Front Page
jedimaster1227 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^I do understand, and it seems this change has done what you intended it to do, so you most likely don't have any more necesscary changes left to be made. The scrolling was a small issue that I noticed on the previous version but I come here enough now to not miss too many updates. Considering that this site's formula has been working for a long time, you obviously don't need to worry too much into these details, but I do think that this facelift is welcome! -

^ Apologies there! I did read the thread in its entirety, but didn't believe that the forum updates "cannibalized" the official updates. I didn't see anything wrong with the former layout, but I guess I am one of the few... One of the nice things about the former layout was that it promoted the idea of membership on the site, but again, that was just something that I saw... -

I think you could get away with merging the Official Updates and the Forum Updates sections, but that is just a thought. I like the new layout, but I think that the original use of one column for all updates was simple and effective. -
You can quote me on this one: "Coaster Expedition Volume 8 is by far the best volume yet! With all new faces and some new places, their antics provide a truly fun and enjoyable experience for any theme park enthusiast! If this doesn't make you want to go on one of their upcoming tours, you need to watch it again until you do!" Adam "can't wait till '08" Roth

My View On Seasonal Parks
jedimaster1227 replied to CK Media's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
If you don't like seasonal parks, go to Japan where they keep some of their parks open in the snow... Here is a perfect example- http://www.themeparkreview.com/videos/nasuhighlandvideo.htm -
It is a shame that the attraction is going, but its time has come. The ride had become rough and somewhat nauseating (on the scale of Body Wars during its run this past year). Since they are keeping the ride system, I hope that they put a good theme with the system. I am really skeptical about the idea of the Simpsons taking the place of Back to the Future. I see the Fast and the Furious taking its place in a much better fashion, but I could be wrong. I have made four return visits to Universal since I first found out that the attraction was closing, just to try to catch it before the attraction closed forever. Each time I went, I was told that they weren't sure when it would close permanently. At least now we know when it will end. I plan on making my way back to the park to say my farwell one last time on March 30th, so if anyone else is going to be there, I would be happy to meet up with you.

The adventure of Lil' Robby Robb

Its scary to see how this thread keeps breaking due to the massive number of posts within it. But then again, this also shows how popular these comics are! -

For some reason, comic #31 seems to sum up all of the other comics. It works great again and I'm sure the next installment will be just as fun if not more. -

Haunted Mansion Refurb Dates
jedimaster1227 replied to jackskellington101's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My only hopes for the attraction is that Leota's face projection is fixed, the turning on the Doombuggies is fixed and the stairway with the spiderwebs has some kind of addition to make that portion somewhat more interesting. -
I hope no one takes this as thread hijacking as I am just giving an update from today. Work has continued on the exterior of the theater and painting is well under way. The pictures on the front look very cool and the two visible sides of the studio have been getting the Blue Man treatment though I believe the third side may get a blue base paint before the show opening. We will be watching you... One last sign of the former Slime-green that used to cover this studio is found on the column with the main poster on it... The side is looking good too with the famous paint-can splash being applied to the wall. Looks as if he is staring at you... They will be ready... Will you? From the theater side of the entry way the new light posts with posters can be seen as the lights within them are ready to be installed. Very cool! Its hard to believe that these studios used to host Nickelodeon shows... From the Hard Rock side of the entryway, the Blue Man Group theater is really starting to shape up...

^^^ It shouldn't be too bad if the release is true in announcing that this theater is modeled mainly after the Astor Plaza show in New York. The theater there had only one flaw- a second level seating that came over the back half of the first level, causing for anyone sitting behind row 10 to lack a view of the entire stage (at least the top half). It seems from this concept art that this has been fixed with the use of elevated seating not overlapping past the boundary of the level rows. I will know more on opening night but my seat is more towards the front (middle of row 7 to be more precise)-out of the poncho section and section 1 but in the first row of section 2.

Seaworld Orlando Has "Big news"
jedimaster1227 replied to dewthedew's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^This will be a seperate ticketed park, much like Adventure Island is for Busch Gardens, though they will offer ticket deals for the main park and the water park (and possibly even Discovery Cove) after the new park has been open for a while. I don't expect any deals to come within the first year of operation of the park... -

jedimaster1227 replied to dewthedew's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This is some Jerry Springer worthy stuff! Somebody call Dr. Phil! But on a serous note, the park looks interesting, but as someone who has lived in Orlando and been to every water park in the area, I can say that I am skeptical about this park. Here are my hopes for Aquatica: 1. The wave pools will not at any point become a focal point of the park (leading for comparisons between Aquatica and Typhoon Lagoon). 2. There are more than just two slides that go through the different habitats, as these slides will have horrible lines to begin with. Considering that most of these slides depict a 1-2 rider per release rate, they will be like all other parks in that they have a low rider per hour capacity rate. 3. We get some kind of water coaster (in the vein of Deluge or Crush n' Gusher) 4. At least one slide with a somewhat steep incline (in the vein of The Bomb Bay or Der Stuka at Wet n' Wild Orlando) These are just some hopes I have for the park, though I expect only one or two of them to actually happen... -

Notice how not too many people have given much of a care to this topic so far... Kidtums beats Seaworld as I expected she would!
