New TPR Photoshop Contest!
jedimaster1227 replied to TPDave's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Let me start by saying that my original entry was extremely rushed as I was working on it in the short span of one class period, but after coming home, I spent a few hours toying with Gimp (now that I finally know how to use it), and the end result is seen below in my official entry. I've left the original for comparison's sake, but the final product is done. Hard Rock America: Original Entry Welcome to the real Six Flags Hard Rock America: Official Entry. -
This news made its way over to Screamscape today... Should I act like this is surprising? I doubt SFA is a priority for the company right now, and with money being the way it is, I assume that this will be one of the last parks to receive a major addition anytime soon (and I don't consider a speed slide to be major).

Does anyone else see this as the next Southern Star Amusement Group-style attempt to revive a dead park? I really am hopeful that the park gets a second chance so I can at least visit once, but I seriously doubt that these investors know what exactly they're getting themselves into. I can't imagine the park ever holding a successful footing in Myrtle Beach... Now if these investors were to announce that the park would be relocated to Orlando, I could see the place having a chance, but not in Myrtle Beach.

^^I believe that you, Brent and I determined the park's new name to be Six Flags under Foreclosure back during the Summer, but I truly do believe that with the park's strong management team and a decent load of captial investments, the park has the potential to become a mild success. Though, the road to success isn't paved on speed slides, fanboy trolls and a barrel of hope--the park needs a little more support to survive... Maybe this sounds a little farfetched, but the Clawshun Industries promotion that is going on with Six Flags New England's Superman and Six Flags Great Adventure's Medusa could easily be extended to the park for a new or updated attraction. Just a thought.

PTR: Brent's TR's - 2009 TPR Scandinavia Tour
jedimaster1227 replied to downunder's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
I really have been hoping someone got photos of Max and I's Water Battle at Busch Gardens Europe... Did you by any chance grab those Brent? Anyways, I've enjoyed all of your updates so far and I've been cracking up constantly over the captions as well. I guess this is my "Brent's funny caption" fix now that you aren't on the West Coast trip, and you aren't doing Coaster of the Week. I guess it just means you'll be seeing me on this thread more often! -
I find it absolutely hilarious that you didn't read my multi-paragraph response, and yet you lambaste another well known user for replying as simply (though in a more eye-friendly form) as you do every time. Can someone say you ignore all that you disagree with? Plus, you can just say the announcement is not going to be huge, considering the paperwork states that it is merely another speed slide. Maybe you've become so conditioned to accept mediocre attractions/additions (and again, I'm looking at this based on my experience at the park) that this is just the greatest thing you've seen the park get, but I find that pretty hard to believe, if not a little pathetic. Six Flags America may have potential, but minor additions like a speed slide (regardless of how tall, fast or large it is) can't make this park turn around. Whether or not you give the park's lamp posts a devoted spit shine when you visit doesn't make a difference either--your adament fanhood won't make something small become big. I figure you'll learn eventually that just because you want something to be something its not, won't make it so. I would love for Seaworld Orlando's Journey to Atlantis to be an Intamin Aquatrax, but it doesn't work that way. I'm sure Hard Rock Park and Cypress Gardens' management teams wanted more than anything for their parks to succeed, but it just wasn't so--and there is nothing they could change about it. You can't make a speed slide become a gatebuster attraction (at least not that I could possibly imagine), especially for a park whose main concerns and issues lay attached to the amusement park section and not the waterpark. If you figure out a way to magically change things, please let me know, because I really would love it if Journey to Atlantis could become an Aquatrax coaster. While you're at it, could you also figure out how to change your posting style? Thanks. For once I can finally agree with you... You aren't talking. You aren't yelling. You're ignoring the rules of grammar and of spelling (I'm so proud that I was able to borrow part of MrMorgan's Spain Trip poem). You can't back up your arguements. You can't spell. You can't state the truth without knowing the real truth. Please notice that none of your posts on this thread have been without error in spelling or grammar. The use of nonexistant words like "coulda," "aint," "im," and "azz" are completely wrong, and are a nuisance to read. Your posts are a headache to all who have to interpret them, and the people that have actually taken the time to respond politely and intelligently have been shot down by your blatently offensive attacks because you don't like their answers. Trying to read your posts has been like reading phonetics with shards of glass in my eyes--a true pain. As I said before, if you aren't willing to accept others' opinions, or at least respect them, then I recommend that you go find another forum where all of the fanboys can go frolick in grammarless fields of pointlessness. You really need to read this thread, because you misrepresent all other TPR members within your age range. I think that the members (and mods) have been more than fair with you on this thread, and yet you continue to yell, bash, scream and go on the offensive without just cause.

NEWS: Universal cutting hours at some attractions http://www.wesh.com/money/18642454/detail.html Certainly not the best of news, but the chance of a reopening later this year is somewhat promising. While Fear Factor isn't my favorite show (T2:3D is, in my opinion, the best the park offers), it is a shame that some guests won't get to experience it for the next few months...

I enjoyed both rides, but definitely found myself more attached to Heaven's Flight. Both were well made, with great layouts and good transitions, so for ride design itself I commend you! Let me just say that you definitely had me in terms of music with Heaven's Flight. The Time Machine's soundtrack is one of my favorites in my collection, and that single track is only trumped in my mind by Eloi. You made the music work for your video, so you have my vote for editing as well.

Theme Park Review's 2008 Asia Tour!
jedimaster1227 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My caption has been sent! Hope you enjoy it Dan! Anyways, this has been another great update Robb! It looks like you guys had a great time in Japan this year! I've really enjoyed reading this thread and look forward to the next updates--the Japan-A-Mania 2 DVD helps to add to the ancitipation, which is a sign of good things! -
I seem to have missed that... And yes, in regards to the two campaigns merging, we were talking about that before, in fact, I was in the discussion that was going on right before my post... I guess I was just continuing that conversation based on what I saw (which I thought was new) on the main Six Flags site. Again, I'm sorry about that Chuck!

It is now official: Mr. Six has returned! http://www.sixflags.com/national/index.aspx And it seems that Six Flags has kept the More Flags, More Fun slogan as well. A healthy marriage of the two concepts, I believe will bring life back into the Mr. Six campaigns, but we'll see how it goes as the year rolls along.

jedimaster1227 replied to ChrisFL's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Hey Chris! I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed this trip report. I knew nothing of this park before I read your thread, and you seem to have had a good time as well. I hope you're having a great time down in Manilla and look forward to catching up when you get back to Florida! ~Adam~ -
^Many on this thread have in fact discussed the few positives compared to the negatives for this park. The discussion has been ongoing throughout the thread, despite the few unsupported statements. I agree that someone should at least give a little bit of justification when they post an opinion, but that is that is entirely their prerogative. I know that I as well as Ben, Brent and several others have discussed the park earlire in this thread (based on our single visit this past Summer) and each of us gave reasons as to why we felt the park fell short. It may not be pleasant or ideal, but anyone has the right to praise or slam a park, ride or show. Like I said before, you can't expect everyone to support their claims everytime they state them. I guess all that you can do is overlook the blanket statements in favor of the ones with content and a reasonable arguement.

^^^^^Is it wrong that I wish Six Flags could create a commercial that had both characters? In my mind, a commercial with the typical "1 flag, 3 flags, more flags more fun" intro leading into the whole Mr. Six welcoming guests onto his bus portion could begin. I think there could be a healthy marriage of the two icons (if there is such a thing) if Six Flags would be willing to give it a try...

^^While I think it is fair to defend one's home park (or any park for that matter), I think that everyone has the equal right to trash it all the same. I can appreciate the fact that you are the original poster, but you can't dictate what people talk about on your thread, or on any other for that matter. And truthfully, the conversation that has gone on over the last few days is still technically on topic--it is in regards to Six Flags America, its status in the Six Flags chain and the quality that is associated with it. From my point of view, the conversation has not taken a turn off the main road. Again, I think that your passion for the park seems to be typing for you, because if you had read into the conversation that has been going on for the last few days, you would see that it is still on topic. The only place you will ever find "purist" Six Flags America fans congregating (and even then, there will still be the negatives) is on a SFA-focused fansite. Since you've posted on an open forum, you've got to be willing to accept the fact that the response may not be the one you like...

Let me just say that this has been a great report! I think your video gave us an idea of what the event was like, and for those of us that were interested (and you know my interest in Morey's Piers), this delivered a inside look at a historical occasion. I don't know if you'd be able to do so, but for those of us that didn't get to be there, would you be willing to upload some more video of the event? I'm sure I'm not the only person that would be interested in seeing you walk the attraction (for whatever portion you were able to)... After all, I did get to see you on the walk-thru for Flying Turns, and you (and your video) were living it up! I think any additional footage of some of the guest speakers and the event would be greatly appreciated. Either way, I thank you for posting this insightful report on an event that I personally would have loved to have been there for. Keep up the great work Matt!

Today I've got some photos of the remaining track in the vacant lot where Rip, Ride, Rockit's storage has been for quite some time. It seems there isn't too much left to go, though I haven't been back inside of the park to see the physical construction (that should come soon). Not too long until this is all gone... A full view of the remaining track (save a few pieces behind the piles of dirt)... The number of remaining track pieces is dwindling. And progress greets me every morning that I pass... Every day of the school week I am welcomed by this view...
