Kevin's Adventures of 2014 (with TPRs Scandi Trip)
XII replied to XII's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
All right. Enough with the tourist sightseeing, bonus credit whoring parks, and binging on alcohol, the bonuses are over and the official TPR Scandinavia Trip for 2014 has begun. And our first park of the trip would indeed be Bakken. It's been claimed that Bakken is the oldest theme park in the world, dating all the way back to 1583. And yeah, I can definitely see that. Bakken is not like your typical amusement park. It mainly seemed to be like a local park with a lot of roller coasters and carnival flat rides plopped down inside. And I really like this atmosphere. It's much more relaxed than your typical amusement park. People tend to just come here to relax, hang out, maybe get a ride on Tornado or two, before heading back to Copenhagen. Or at least that's what I'd do if I had Bakken as a home park. Cause it may be small, but it's got some really good rides. Rutschebahn - Sadly, I heard that this Scenic Railway used to be much better back when it still had a brakeman operating it and you got some serious ejector air, so I was told. Well, at least its still a decent ride in 2014. Tornado - Without a doubt, the most insane spinning coaster ever. The lift hill is basically a launch, it'll karate chop your neck if you don't brace in time, and it is just fast and crazy. It saddens me that there is no other spinning coaster like Tornado in the world, cause it's really the best kind. Easily the most intense spinning coaster and my 2nd favorite (Winjas still takes the cake). I definitely recommend giving Bakken a visit when you're in the Copenhagen. It's got some good coasters, good flat rides, and just a good atmosphere (Oh, and also make sure you check out the Ropes Course. Still one of the coolest things I've done so far and definetly worth the money. Thank you again Robb & Elissa for putting this as an option on the tour). Now, onto the photos. Well, the bonuses are over and the trip has officially begun. Time to head on the bus to our first park (lovely view of Copenhagen). Yay!!! We made it!!! Bakken is reportedly one of the oldest amusement parks in the world, dating all the way back to 1583. Yeah, this park is almost twice as old as the United States. Just let that sink in for a moment. All right. Let's get ERT started with Rutschebahn. One of only 5 Scenic Railways left in the world. First up, we went to the secret maintanence area for a history lesson on the roller coaster, which was very interesting. Love the funky non-straight lifthill. Enough History!! Let's ride!!! Now for some bad news about the ride. A couple years ago, they got rid of the original cars with the brakeman you saw in the maintanence area for newer cars with automatic braking, which sort of neutered the ride. =( Well, at least the new cars look nice. Hey, at least they still kept this, which made me very happy. I know some of my American Friends were quite surprised to hear about this (and this isn't even the most f*cked up thing on the trip). Well, its still a fun ride, even if I was told it used to be much better. Rutschebahn may be a historical classic, but this is without a doubt, the star attraction of the park. Do NOT underestimate Tornado. It'll kick your ass and karate chop your neck if you don't brace in time. I really hope Intamin builds more spinners like this cause it's insane. Hey look!!! I found Santa Claus!! Don't bother going to the North Pole in the middle of the Arctic Ocean. Just head on over to Bakken. Let me on the Teacup Carousel!! I have such a great history with these things!! All right. Lets get the other credits, starting out with the low capacity Wild Mouse. D'oh!! Everyone else stole our idea!!! Not a bad Wild Mouse, but I've also ridden better. Wee!!! Cha-Ching!!! Hey Caesar. How much to eat at your resteraunt? Continuing on with getting credits, we're now onto Racing, which is basically just outdoors Space Mountain. Why is this ride called Racing if you're not racing anybody? Are we just racing the other cars on the track? RACE FASTER CAESAR!!! I'M CATCHING UP!!! But in all seriousness, it was a fun ride. Onto Mine Train Ulven, which is basically just outdoors Skull Mountain. Geez, Outdoor Space Mountain, Outdoor Skull Mountain, I think I'm sensing a trend here. Hey, it was a really good ride. In case you forgot, Bakken also serves as a local park for those living on the outskirts of Copenhagen. Just one last credit for us to get. That's right. It's sad and pathetic time over here. Well, we got the credit. Cha-Ching!! Well, time to get on the most intersting flat ride in the park. Sky Roller. This thing has to be the most frustrating ride ever!! I kept trying to get it to flip, but I couldn't get the weight right. It's not like Brain Surge or the 2 person Top Spin where you just let all hell break loose. You gotta get it just right, and I couldn't get the hang of it. Ugh. I need more practice with this ride. =( Yeah. I'm in Europe all right. All right. Time for lunch. Lunch was good and...what's that? YES!!! EUROPEAN FANTA IS BACK!!!! Ok, that's actually Miranda, the Pepsi version of European Fanta, but still!!! European Miranda Knock Off > American Fanta!!! Why yes. I would like dessert as well. I am determined to eat a waffle at every single park on this trip. Time to ride Desperado (the 3D Shooter, not the Arrow Hyper). "No need to aim or even keep my eyes open. Just use the force and the targets will come to me." Come on now. Let's go see the 5D Show!! So we're gonna see a show about going to an island inhabited with dinosaurs that you brought back from the dead. Gee, if only someone had been smart enough to make a movie based off that. Brooke's favorite park mascot ever. The log ride was fun and all, but the water quality...not the best to say the least. We were told to come back to Extreme at 3:30 for a special ride. HOLY CRAP!!! THIS THING WAS HAULING ASS!!! I mean, it was all right before, but with the operators giving us their special ride, this went from fun to even better than Tango. "No. A roller coaster does not go through my vagina. Now quit staring." BEST SIMULATOR EVER!!! So glad they have this single riders line so I can get more rides in on Tornado. Well, I had a great time at Bakken. Thanks for everything. European Bus Drivers are scarily good at their jobs. I mean, just look at how much room we're squeezing by in!! And now, time for the most insane part of the day. The Ropes Course. See how big the building is, yeah. That's how high off the ground we're gonna be. There was a Heavy Metal Festival, Copenhell going on right next door. I wouldv'e joined them if I wasn't doing the Ropes Course instead. Yes. For the sake of everyone around you. Please take a dump before you jump. Just one of the many obstacles to go through on the Ropes Course. Yeah. This shows you just how high off the ground you are. It's 50 meters (164 ft) above the ground. Once you're done with the Ropes Course, you take the series of Ziplines to get down. I really recommend doing this when you're in Copenhagen. It's an amazing experience. The dinner they served us may not be anything fancy, but it was a good sandwich. Thanks for reading and feel free to leave any comments you may have. Tivoli Gardens Photos will be up soon. -

Kevin's Adventures of 2014 (with TPRs Scandi Trip)
XII replied to XII's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
All right. We had fun in Copenhagen, now it's time for the amusement parks to roll in on the TPR Scandinavia Trip. Now technically, the trip hasn't begun yet and this is just an add-on. But hey, I thoroughly enjoyed today as a large number of us ventured into Sommerland Sjaelland. Now if one were to only research the park by going onto RCDB to see what roller coasters they had, they wouldn't see this as anything more than a quick credit whoring stop that would take about 30 minutes before just leaving, but we not only spent a whole afternoon here, but the way the park treated us was absolutely great. The coasters weren't anything special, but we were given a private tour of the park, rode many of their rides, hung out with the owner of the park, and we just had a great time. If you are looking for a small little park to hang out in, then this is a good place to go to. Two thumbs up and I'm certainly glad that I got the opportunity to go here. Onto the photos. Well, we had fun in Copenhagen. Now it's time for the amusement parks to roll in. Oh, and the breakfast at the hotel was awesome. That Danish was simply unbelievably good. I love windmills. Not only because they're a great source of clean energy, but they just look beautiful. Yay!!! We made it to Sommerland Sjaelland!!! Today was bonus park day. So a bunch of us decided to head on over to Sommerland Sjaelland for some bonus credits and we just ended up having an absolute blast. Hey Nolan!! Now you can get that Coke you so desperately wanted. Oops. Never mind. Guess you'll just have to wait till lunch. First things first, lets check out their Driving School. Hey Nicole!! We found a ride just for you!! All right. First credit of the trip. Oh boy!!! Another Wacky Worm!! I'm so pleased to be riding this one of a kind ride!! Every single one of you guys is sad and pathetic. Wee!!! Self-Operated Zipline!!! Who cares if the train is moving? Hop on board and lets go!! Hope you like all these American themed areas. There's gonna be A LOT of them on this trip. Hey, if you're pathetic enough to ride our Wacky Worm, then surely you're pathetic to ride our horse ride. Hop aboard. ♫ "I'm riding a horse. Riding a horse with my high heels on." ♫ If you need help tying your cigarette in a knot, please contact an attendent for assistance. Love the lunch you put on for us Sommerland Sjaelland. Please look away from the food and direct your attention here for a history lesson on Sommerland Sjaelland. NO!!!! MR. T!!!!!! ='( Ooh. Love the look of that water slide. Just drinking my beer before driving the go karts. What? Do you have a problem with that? Just in case you forgot where we are. Hey Disney. Call your lawyers cause we're riding the politically incorrect Jungle Cruise knock off. Release the King Kong. You know that waterfall gag gets old really fast. Where can I apply for this job? Time to get the other credit at this park. Oh crap. Time to pop my Pinfari Looper cherry. Ugh. Sign of true quality. I'm gonna need another beer to get through this. The most shocking part of all this? I actually liked the ride!! It was relatively smooth and there actually was a good pop of airtime. It was just a fun little ride. Hi random spinning flat ride. Hows it going? Whatever the hell that pink goop you Danes keep putting on your ice cream, keep doing that cause it kicks ass!! Pathetic fools who think this'll help them for tomorrows rope course. Dude!!! These bouncing pillows are awesome!!! For some reason, they're just much better than normal trampolines, which made me very happy to learn after this trip that there's actually one in SoCal apparently. After that fun day at Sommerland Sjaelland, we went back to Copenhagen for dinner at a chain resteraunt that for some reason isn't popular in America, Wagamamas. It's not my all time favorite chain or anything, but I really liked it. I could totally see this resteraunt thriving in several different shopping centers, particuarlly in Orange County. Mmm. Creme Brule *drool*. And to top off this awesome day, we had the 2nd ever Snack & Alcohol Exchange. And after just how crazy the last alcohol exchange was, I was really looking foreword to tonight. I didn't even eat anything from the Snack Exchange. Oh, don't get me wrong. I took plenty, I just shoved it all inside a brown paper bag and snacked on it throughout the entire trip. It was kind of like grown up trick or treating. That red stuff right there, SO F*CKING GOOD!!! I had at least three shots of that. Grr. I'm torn between my love for all things apple flavored and my hatred of moonshine. Bah!! Screw it!! Gimme the whole bottle *chug chug chug*!!! The blue stuff was also really good. Thumbs up from me. "Need more booze!!! We need more booze!!!" Thanks for reading and feel free to leave any comments you have. -
