^^ Okay, well, yes it is a miracle that one foot could be reattached... but someone could still be sad. Think of the girl, yes, she might be happy for one foot, but you bet that she is sad for the other. Of course people will be sad. That is normal when things are not 100%. As you said, the chances were extremely low... but there still were chances. -Andrew

B&M vs Intamin
adc9787 replied to alpengeistdude321's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have only ridden one Intamin... Stormrunner. However, I thought that the ride was really amazing. One thing about B&M rides is that I can sit on them and actually be bored. That forces on some are strong, but since they all (except Hulk) use the same go up, go down, inversions or hills, pattern... it can be boring. Intamin, to me, at least trys new things and up the thrill factor all the time. Personally, I love launching coasters... and Intamin seems to do that the best. It is really hard to compare the two companies as their product line is very different. Overall, I would have to say Intamin! -Andrew -
Photo TR:Hersheypark and the new Boardwalk!
adc9787 replied to drewelap's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I just got back from Hersheypark and I thought that the park was really awesome. Has anyone been there on a day when they are blocking off multiple rows on rides for no reason other than the fact that there are fery few people in line. On Ligntning Racer and Wildcat, the middle four cars were roped off. Even worse was RollerSoaker, which they were not seating anyone backwards making the line go so slow. Has anyone ever seen that before? -Andrew -
Shockwave is truly a grat ride. Even better is that there is almost never a line. Of course, if there is a line, well, you picked a horrible day to go to the park! -Andrew

NEWS: New Darien Lake website up!

What I thought was really funny, and lazy, is that Superman: Ride of Steel's ne name in just. Rode of Steel. Hobody took the time to even come up with a new, more creative name. -Andrew -
Mr. Freeze to turn RED!
adc9787 replied to adc9787's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think that the Aquaman re-theme will probably look better if or when they paint the entire ride and add the other features. The park really seemed nice this past weekend. All the effects in rides were working, even everything in the batman queue. The only problem was new staff but that will get better over time. -Andrew -
Mr. Freeze to turn RED!
adc9787 replied to adc9787's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I was at SFOT on opening day and Mr. Freeze was running just as good as ever. In fact, I have come to like the new colors. They really do look great in the sky! -
^I never really understood the "family spending more money / teens don't spend any" idea. Whenever I go wtih my friends, we all spend plenty on food and junk we probably don't need. If our parents are there, we have limits because they have the money. For me at least, it is the opposite of what Shapiro thinks. -Andrew

^ Since both of the rides that you are referring to happened to end up i Texas (Sarajavo Bobsleds became La Vibora at SFOT / Shockwave eventually became Batman the Escape at the former SFAW), I have been on both. Scarajavo Bobsleds (La Vibora) is a great ride for children, a bit painful when the cars would enter the blocks spread throughout the track and the cars would shake. However, it has HORRIBLE capacity. Shockwave (Batman the Escape) is a simple but fun ride. It is not great by todays standards, but it was stiall plenty fun. -Andrew

Those are all good points... and I see why the park will be better without the coaster. I think it is great that the company is making the parks nicer because kid or adult, a nicer park leaves a better feeling. However, while SFMM does need this treatment, some parks (SFOT off the top of my head) do not as they already are plent family friendly. Oh well. Sorry to get off topic... I also agree with who said that Deja Vu looks really good standing alone. -Andrew

Why is everyone so overly joyed with thie rides removal? I rode Psyclone for the first time this summer and yes, I thought is was very rough, but I think some people are being a little too, happy, that the coaster has been torn down. Don't get me wrong, everyone is entitled to their opinion and I have no problem with what people are saying. However, even though everyone here knows that most likely its replacement will be nothing but a simple family section, I dont get why people are cheering. No one was ever forced to ride it. -Andrew

Walibi Belgium Discussion Thread
adc9787 replied to Dark Vampire's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Personally... I think this project is extremely unique... I mean a ski lift company is trying. BUT... that happens to be the rides problem. It strays to far from a "roller coasters concept." Think about it. Not a single feeling on this ride... save for being on a "wire" above the park... could not be replicated, or even improved upon by using proven technology. Also, I do agree with many that the supports for the ride are horrible... but be thankful there are only a few! -Andrew -
Best Coaster "Voice Over" or Sounds
adc9787 replied to PKI Jizzman's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
For me... it has to be Hulk. I mean, for someone who has never ridden it before... the first time takes you by total suprise because you are listening to a story... and not an actual countdown. Just a quick question... on LIM launched rides like Mr. Freeze or any of the "spaghetti" ball coasters... do the ride ops have the final button press at the time of launch... or is it push button and then the rides computers handel the actual countdown? -Andrew -
Safest Restraints and Manufacturer
adc9787 replied to Mr Stratosphere's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Honestly, for some reason I really like the Vekoma restraints on the GIB's. For some reaso nthey feel really neat when you are forced into them while being pulled up or lowered into the station. -

Can anyone please tell me why Giovanolla (spelling?) got out of the roller coaster trade... or are they still there just not custom designing rides anymore. In my opinion... they made some of the greatest rollercoasters! -Andrew -
I rode X for the first time this past summer when I took a trip to California... and all I can say is that I was glad I did get the chance before it went down. In my opinion... for many tourists... X is the main draw to the park. (Tatsu is also a main draw... but X is just so unique that I think people who don't live by roller coasters will see X as a crazy thing and kind of pass over Tatsu when choosing a park to go to) (Even though Tatsu is AMAZING) But... I am glad X is back open... it is a great fun ride (only a little rough) and perosnally... when I went to the park... if X had been closed I would have beem mad like no other! So... good job on Magic Mountain going to the post office and recieving that package that took so long. (It must have got lost during all the holiday madness! ) Also... did I read ^ that they were CLEANING! (no way!!) -Andrew

Your favorite track support!
adc9787 replied to jarmor's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Thank you for all of your answers. I never really noticed that B&M supports were much thicker than other companies. My home park being SFOT... the Titan has probably some of my favorite supports... the ones around the double helix of lost consiousness being my favorite. I've never really noticed this... but Titan and for that matter Goliath at SFMM are like B&M style track with almost an Intamin style od complex support system. (Maybe that's why the ride is almost perfect!) -Andrew From rcdb.com -
Your favorite track support!
adc9787 replied to jarmor's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Just a question... but does anyone here think that Intamin sometimes over supports some parts of their rides. If these massive structures are really necessary than my comment will be taken back... but it seems that B&M can do what Intamin does in less than half the supports. I love the way they all look... just they seem a bit crowded. -Andrew -
I guess the off season is the time for a lot of pait jobs... and that means that many people will have an opinion one way or another. In boards about paint color that I have seen, there are always many people who seem to complain about other people just plainly voicing an opinion. No one is saying that they will never ride it... they just may or may not agree with the rides new appearence... and there is no problem with that. Most everything in this world is based on visual appeal... so why is it such a big deal when someone complains about a new color. "Its just a stupid color... stop complaining" That is what many people say just because they do not care. But to those people, lets say that the house that is next to you, or your own house for that matter, went from a nice red brick to purple wood. You would complain and if it was your house, you would probably be disgusted with it and wonder hoe houses change what they are made of and color overnight. All I ask is that people stop coming on these threads and making complaints about... well... complaining. That, in my opinion, is much stupider that a complaint about color, which is reasonable in may ways. Thanks... - Andrew (I didn't try to offend anyone on here... so... yeah!)

Look... everyone already knows the real reason it is being painted. Of course it is because they have extra paint from Mr. Freeze and want to use all of it up!! But really, I dont think they are done painting the track part... and if they are going for a snake theme, they will make every section between a different support a different color. I really hope that Six Flags decides to re-name the ride. I think it is smart to try and make simililar (some identical) rides at their many parks seem different.
