  1. From day one, there were talks about something big. IIRC, ground was already broken from opening day last year. There were a couple teasers in park that I'm sure were posted here such as the blatantly visible box with "GC seats" spray painted on it. Of course, there was the leaked renderings the night before the announcement, a trend seen across Cedar Fair parks last year. I do sort of agree in the sense that Wonderland doesn't tease as much or in ways as other parks do. Hell, they used a quote from Dick Kinzel as part of their teasing. As for this whole brake run thing, I don't know why people are coming up with alternate endings. The last time I saw Leviathan was when the lift hill was halfway up and the brake run was completed. I cannot see any more space for track, and I would personally find it terrible having more track hover above Dragon Fire.
  2. For me, Behemoth is two different rides during the day and night, the latter being more intense. I can't imagine what night rides are like on this beast. Is there any special lighting on Leviathan like chaser lights? One more thing... I noticed there's a lot of speakers on Leviathan. Is the spiel a bit longer or something? Anyways, thanks a lot for the coverage today!
  3. I know it's not even the first public day yet, but how is the flow of the trains so far? Do two trains end up on the brake run a lot or is that just an occasional occurrence?
  4. I actually like the Arcadium sign with the streamers. They should add more of those medieval-type banners around the area, especially near Riptide. When I think of the Riptide area, all I think of is concrete.
  5. Going through the other 5 coasters they already have operating according to RCDB, the quality doesn't seem as horrendous as I was expecting. But I'm very concerned finding this on their website: http://www.jiuhuarides.com.cn/product/liste.asp?product_id=209
  6. Now that I've seen the sign closer, I actually like it! The only thing to do now is to paint over the green parts of the entrance building with the same light blue and it will be perfect. The red awnings compliment the sign very nicely. If the footers for the tunnel are already in, I wouldn't be surprised if they have the tunnel up within a couple days. Does anyone know how the buses are routing through the parking lot now? It would be nice if Wonderland could have two bus stops, one near the first drop and one beside the front gate seeing as how that island protecting the footer makes a perfect loop for a bus. In any case, I hope they get the #4 going through there again.
  7. Sorry guys - are are not supporting the group that published this video. Link removed.
  8. In the first testing stages for the coaster, there is probably no automated program to run the ride. It could be that the train (mind you that it's empty so it's lighter) was stopped on the brake run very hard in a way that part of it was still hanging off so it had enough weight to pull the train backwards. That's the best that I could come up with with this story...
  9. I know there was a change at the top with Mr. Ouimet, but I think many of the new additions this season can be credited toward the park management. Since Raffi went back to Knott's, as far as I am aware, the top management at Wonderland are all veterans of the park. I can see why it's just now that Medieval Faire is starting to go back to what the area was meant to be, and with the announcement of the placement of the entrance sign like it was back when the park opened in the 80's. With food being improved over the last few seasons, I would love to be able to buy mexican food on International Street again.
  10. It was just mentioned on Facebook that the front gate got a makeover with the sign going onto the entrance building and the Canadian flag added to the row of province flags. I noticed this on the new park map but didn't think much of it. Has anyone seen it yet? And I'm guessing this means the very last Paramount element is gone, that being the row of star brick pavers. With Leviathan, Dinosaurs Alive, Starlight Spectacular, and the park entrance makeover, I'm curious to see what the grand total of all of these projects are. With more side projects being announced continually, they're doing a good job keeping my attention. CF is really treating this park well and I can only imagine they have more surprises by the time we get to Haunt. BTW, check out this video from Global News: http://www.globaltoronto.com/video/the+morning+show+conquers+the+leviathan/video.html?v=2224538321 Here's a nice screengrab from the news clip. (lol @ the news ticker)
  11. Other than it possibly being ugly, I think it will only add to the experience if they add effects to it. V Stellaclose: I was thinking the same thing too, but a large fence would be sufficient enough. There are other coasters in the park where guests can walk up close to a coaster's track (like Vortex and Skyrider).
  12. So did anyone figure it out yet? I figure if it's any time, it's the night before seeing as that's what happened with the Leviathan announcement. And Dinosaurs Alive. And the new Windseekers. I'm thinking it's either a tunnel that will be added somewhere on the ride or park hours will be extended later (perhaps SPPN extended to midnight?)
  13. Great photo walk through of Dinosaurs Alive! I was just wondering, do they hand out any sort of pamphlet with the same information found on the signs? I found myself going TL;DR for many of them in your pictures because there's just so much text on it. I can't imagine a park guest standing there reading these long signs. I think it would be a great idea to hand out some sort of literature with the same information so kids can read it while in queues or on the drive home.
  14. That isn't the first time I've heard of a valley in that spot in spring. If I remember correctly, they have a winch that will bring the train up to the warehouse scene.
  15. With Cedar Fair changing their ad campaign, I personally think CGA needs one that pokes fun at this whole thing. Is it a hot topic with the GP? Either way, they need ads that tell people to scream louder at the park.
  16. HAHA, that looks worse than those S&S frog hopper rides.
  17. Wow... They installed the dampers already, right? With it being new, I thought it would be stiff and need time to break in but the seats are swaying back and forth quite a bit.
  18. So... has the official drop height been determined yet?
  19. Not to mention the one right there isn't even from CW, but one of the many copies of that video... I'm still not sure if I'm going for a season pass, but it seems more likely with every update. I'm impressed with what they've done in the area. I realllllly hope that one day they will retheme Drop Tower when it's due for new paint. Also, with the way they were talking about Starlight Spectacular, it seems as if it was meant to be a one-season attraction. I always thought it was to stay until it somehow got stale.
  20. Ride crews will begin training in a matter of weeks so I'm sure rides are coming out of hibernation all over the park. I'm sure the park is taking advantage of this gorgeous weather we've been having lately. I'm stunned by the contrast between the first test run and this recent video. I hope it continues to run this way. It even looks like you can get a small pop on the brake run.
  21. Wonderland just posted a POV, where the camera appears to be mounted on the empty seat on that test run. A third of the video is the lift hill, so you non-lift enthusiasts may skip to around 0:50 mark. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_x1b2FAK500 You can actually see the dummies floating as the train goes over the hills.
  22. Not quite sure what you mean. It's funny, I can't picture it without it. I always thought the original Knott's topper looked weird.
  23. I remember when I hit that magical height mark many years back, I rode Minebuster with my cousins and we all got freaked out by the amount of airtime, though I'm not sure if it was because we were kids or because of how awesome the ride was back then. It was a sad season when I rode it only to bump along this drawn out hill and be jackhammered at the end of it (which was fixed just a few years ago) I know this isn't going to get much approval, but I actually enjoy Wild Beast slightly more than Minebuster. It's rough, so I can only ride it once or twice in a visit, but I'll take excitement over smoothness. I get a kick out of how strong the forces on it.
  24. All off the videos I've seen covering the story are pretty creepy, despite not being able to understand what people are saying. I hope that Intamin is part of the investigation even if it isn't their fault. I think these tower rides have gotten a lot of bad publicity to the point where blatantly obvious modifications could be made to restore some confidence in riders. Also, on the topic about cars being out of service, I always thought they didn't use a car if wind was blowing into it.
