  1. Looking back, I kinda regret not giving some of those coasters another chance, but when I was at the park and rode a coaster I didn't like I'd rather just ride something I know I like. As for Blue Streak that was such a painful experience that I wouldn't try it again. Maverick wasn't at all rough, but the restraints don't lock and keep pressing down. Im thin but tall which means the restraints go down very far after the first hill and my shoulder gets a lot of pressure. My brother hated Magnum more than anything else at the park and I didn't know about the seatbelt trick then. Corkscrew didn't exactly hurt but I was so close to wacking my head to the restraints (during all my time riding coasters I've never had a good headbang except one on Dragon Khan). Also, it takes a good 5 hour drive from New York (which we only visit once every two years) for me and my family to get to Cedar Point and I feel I'd rather try some new parks in the area the next time.
  2. Never been there but I wanna ride Stunt Fall so badly, I've heard that it's the best Giant Inverted Boomerang in the world. Blackpool Pleasure Beach?
  3. I feel kinda oddly about Valravn. Firstly, I thought it was pretty intense since I greyed out after the first drop atleast two of the three times I rode it. Secondly, I thought the restraints felt uncomfortable, even though I had absolutely no problem with GateKeeper's. I suspect both of those things has to do with the fact that I rode Valravn much later than the other rides and were probably sore and tired. I did however feel a lot of airtime during both of the drops. As for ranking I'd put it right under Raptor, which means 6th best for me. The theming was kinda halfassed and barely-existent in a way that you felt like they only did it so they could call it a themed ride (talking about the AR stuff). If I'm completely honest I kinda hope CP doesn't start theme their rides because that's always what I found charming with Cedar Point; it has the atmosphere of a giant boardwalk park almost.
  4. Anaconda in Gold Reef (The giovanola invert) looks kinda rough, but I like the loop-roll-loop element and the theming. *Haven't actually been there
  5. Couldn't have said it better myself, that's really what I feel about Cedar Point. Great Adventure has only one painful coaster in my opinion (Green Lantern), and who knows, maybe I'll even like that one when I return like 5 years later. Visiting Cedar Point on the other hand, I thought Maverick, Magnum, Rougarou, Valravn, Blue Streak and Corkscrew all hurt more or less, but at the same time the top coasters (including Maverick even though it hurt) are so amazing it's unreal. The rides I found underrated when I went there were GateKeeper, Gemini, Iron Dragon and Mean Streak (which in front row didn't hurt at all, it just rattled a lot). And as far as I remember there's not a lot of difference on GK between left and right back, except that on the left it throws you over the first drop which is awesome.
  6. Admittedly I have never ridden any of the other wing coasters, so it's going to be easier to compare when I've ridden Demon or Swarm. I'll also admit that sitting in the front or middle wasn't that great on GateKeeper. But during my three days at Cedar Point the thing that struck me the most was how amazing GateKeeper was in the back seat. I've never ridden a non-airtime-machine with as much time spent floating as GateKeeper. To all the people who got underwhelmed by GK even though they tried the back seat, I'm sorry you feel that way. But I think a lot of people don't really give it a chance, so I'm telling you; try the left back row. As you see in my signature I put it just under Millenium Force, and not by far, so hopefully that proves that not only "the GP" loves it. The best example I can come up with are all the enthusiasts who say "A dive coaster was a bad investment for the park". Have you guys seen the media coverage and lines on Valravn? Have you not heard the amount of people who scream "BEST RIDE EVER" on the break run? I understand it when people say something is a bad fit for a park, but when it goes into the "investments" territory it goes a bit too far.
  7. Same haha, but then again I realise we're getting an intamin hyper, another mack launch and a themed 170 foot dive coaster in 2018. And you'll probably get something good at Michigans Adventure within the next 2.. well maybe 20 years.
  8. The top three are all good but I'd say Balder or Helix, probably Helix Fuji Q Highland
  9. I'm going to answer again since I have a pretty controversial opinion on this one; but Top Thrill Dragster. The launch is so amazing in the front and on the third day I was there it was a walk-on. Maverick would've been better but since the restraints dont lock and instead keep pressing down during the ride it sucks for tall people like me as it pressures both my thigh and my shoulders. Next one; Magic Mountain
  10. Well, previously I would probably have said FlumeRide@Liseberg, but the last time I visited the park I went on Kanonen 25 times so it has probably passed. I'm super jealous of you americans who can buy a cheap Six Flags or Cedar Fair pass and ride Nitro/Diamondback/whatever how many times you want, while I need to pay a small loan of $200 for unlimited access to just Liseberg.
  11. Well... As a child I got so scared in line for Lisebergsbanan (family Scwartzkopf) that I started crying, although I got myself together and stayed in line. The most scared I've ever been on a ride was Kingda Ka, since it was my first coaster faster than 60mph and first coaster over 100 feet. The only rides I've passed on since I started riding coasters are Vertigo @ Tivoli Gardens and Slingshot Ride (but that's also because of the cost).
  12. I'm sorry if I came off as trying to defend him for making rude comments because in my opinion it's really irrelevant to be annoyed about a parks nolimits2 animation, and I agree with that quote wholeheartedly. Anyways, looks like an awesome coaster and I'm happy that you Floridans (or whatever you call it) are getting this awesome new woodie!
  13. To his defense [EDIT: To explain why he was making those comments, even though I don't approve with it,] it's a bit easier to be a cynic when you aren't actually going to ride a newly announced coaster. We Europeans don't really get the reaction "OMG, awesome new coaster in central Florida". That being said, this looks like an awesome coaster, kinda like an inverting Balder in some ways. I hope the speed of the inversion stays the same because that looks insane. I'm not sure whether I'm able to go there when I visit Florida with my family (maybe 2018) since I already wanna go to Busch Gardens, SeaWorld, Universal and maybe Disney (and ofcourse the polercoaster if it has opened by then).
  14. Silver Star if you ignore the lines, but Blue Fire if you don't (the lines are much shorter, especially single rider line), and yeah, that is a big deal to me. Following the European theme; Alton Towers
  15. That sounds really fun, but as far as I know they only exist in fairs and I never go on those (for geographical reasons). We'll be getting an Intamin Gyro Swing with lapbars next year but I can't find whether it boosts you on the way up or the way down. So judging from your comment I'd guess it's your favourite flat ride then? I've not really ridden that many good ones but my favourite is by far the Zierer Star Shape (like the one in the trip report, or more specifically Mechanica at Liseberg). Zierer make great flat rides and I hope they make more coasters in Europe.
  16. How would you rate XXL compared to an Afterburner (like the one in Thorpe) and Zamperla Discovery (SpinRock at Liseberg)? I've only ridden SpinRock and maXair and I love SpinRock but dont really like maXair (it hurts so much). Nice photos BTW, visiting England for the first time next year but sadly WW will be gone by then.
  17. I already miss Kanonen even though it\s not even been removed yet, I rode it 25 times last time I visited Liseberg. Im gonna try ride it again but after that if it doesnt end up close to Sweden Ill never ride it again...
  18. Maybe forceful was the wrong word for it, I was more talking about intensity as in how strong the launch feels. A big factor on how intense a launch is is how long it sustains high g-forces for. For example, Intimidator 305 feels more intense than a Vekoma Boomerang, although boomerangs have a higher maximum g (never ridden any of them myself so can't compare). Also, according to Lisebergs website Kanonen only goes 0-75 kmph (46 mph) in 2 seconds, while Storm Runner during that same time goes from 0-116 kmph (75 mph). Not necessarely disagreeing with you or saying you're wrong, but Top Thrill Dragster felt amazingly forceful while Kanonen has a pretty smooth launch. And for people wondering about the acceleration on Helix, let's just say you barely feel the launches, even though it's except for that a great coaster.
  19. I've only ridden one GCI and that's Wodan at Europa Park, I thought it was okay but pretty rough compared to Intamins woodies. Furius Baco is the worst Intamin I've ridden, it would've been great but it's one of the roughest steel coasters I've been on. Green Lantern (B&M) has a good layout and I like the concept of standing on a roller coaster, but my legs hurt so bad on that ride because of the blood pressure that I could barely even scream.
  20. I actually disagree. I think Kanonen is a perfect fit for the park since it's way more agressive and filled with laterals than the other coasters. I rode it 25 times the last time I was at Liseberg and but though I love it I don't think it's the most powerful Intamin launchcoaster, out of the ones I've been on (TTD, Kingda Ka, Furius Baco, Wicked Twister) it has in my opinion been the least powerful. Valkyria is going to be good, maybe even better than Kanonen, but with AtmosFear and Helix I think Kanonen is more different in feel.
  21. Parks I'll go to 2017: -Liseberg -Djurs Sommerland (First time) -Hansa Park (First time) -Heide Park (First time) -Gröna Lund Parks I may go to 2017: -Fårup Sommerland (First time -Tivoli Kopenhagen -Kolmården Zoo -Alton Towers (First time) -Thorpe Park (First time) Parks I may go to 2018 -Energylandia -Either Hersheypark (First time) and Great Adventure or Busch Gardens Tampa (First time), Seaworld Orlando (First time) and Universal (First time) Needless to say, I'm HYPED for the coming years
