Whats you favorite theme park.Sir Clinksalot replied to ddaver177's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! Disneyland/DCA I know alot of people don't like DCA, but it's hard of me to think of Disneyland without DCA anymore.

Here is my current desktop, the UI is based around OS X Tiger, with a dock along the bottom and an Autohidden one along the right hand edge for games. The wallpaper is a cool image from DeviantArt called Angel of Fire that I added a background to.

Confirmed: Toddler killed by LAPDSir Clinksalot replied to Mr.Six's topic in Random, Random, Random As far as I'm concerned the father killed the baby. No matter what bullet killed the baby, the child would be alive if the father wasn't such an ass hole. I can't believe the people protesting this. It honestly makes me sick to my stomach.

Gas Prices where you liveSir Clinksalot replied to RtherBOnACoaster's topic in Random, Random, Random Well, here its around £0.90 pence for a litre of unleaded. Thats about $1.50 in dollars. So, for a gallon here its about £4.09pence. Which would be $7.21 in American Dollars. So, if you think your prices suck, try living here.

It depends I guess, I think your example is slightly flawed in that The Getaway had lots of problems, dodgy car handling, terrible targeting and other problems. Whereas GTA is pretty good in most respects (Targeting could be improved though). GTA also has a lot of extra stuff to do after the missions are finished and it's a fun sandbox game. The Getaway didn't have anything after you'd completed the missions and you had no need to replay it as (for me at least) the story was lame. I think those points were more what made GTA more replayable. (and yes shooting was much more enjoyable in GTA) I think people get too hooked up on what games look like, RCT3 looks good (if not GREAT), it's functional and plays well (assuming you have a decent-ish system). Which is all you could hope for to be honest. People complain that they should be able to play RCT3 on their machines because they can play RCT2.... RCT2 runs on a Pentium 2 300 (Probably less) which is now positively ancient. Most of the complaints are people with barely entry-level PC's who would rather complain about RCT3 being crap than admit that their PC's are below average. Some people will always prefer 2D graphics, heck that's why the GBA is still so popular. But you can't deny that building a coaster is easier in RCT3 thanks to being able to easily look at the area you need to see, instead of guessing based on the isometric 90 degree views.

Where has anyone said the game is lifelike ? The question is are the graphics too cartoony or are they just right. The graphics in Rollercoaster Tycoon have ALWAYS been cartoony, in RCT1, 2 and 3. They have never attempted to be lifelike. As for the water effect being cheesy, that is purely your opinion, but I personally think the water effects, especially in Soaked!, with the water refraction and caustics look really good. The waves in pools can look a little angular at times but they do the job, especially considering they have hundreds of peeps interacting with them. Sandbox mode is a mode where you have unlimited money and can just build without worrying about actually having a well designed park. It is often used for playing with making coasters around terrain and such. To get to Sandbox mode you just click Play and instead of selecting Career Mode you select Sandbox. This isn't a dig at your opinion as you are entitled to it, at least you justified your reasons for feeling that way RCT3 is just as cartoony as RCT2, maybe the peeps are a tad more but only because you can actually SEE expressions and such now. People seem to forget that Chris Sawyer WAS ACTIVELY INVOLVED with RCT3. Perhaps you could argue that the graphics aren't as detailed as RCT2 for tracks and scenery. But people wanted RCT in 3D so a tradeoff has to come somewhere. Personally I like the art direction in RCT3 and feel that Frontier did a good job at capturing the FEEL of Rollercoaster Tycoon, if you compare it to Theme Park World (Sim Theme Park in the US) then it feels a MILLION times more serious than that game. People seem to think it's cool to slag RCT3 off or compare it to non-games like No Limits (which is great and has really fluid 3D coasters, but you don't exactly PLAY it, it's a CAD Design App (simplified maybe), not a game) If you prefer No Limits, Scream Machines, HyperRails or Ultimate Ride over RCT3 then that's your preference, it doesn't instantly make RCT3 crap. You ARE allowed to like more than one theme park/coaster game/sim ! This mine is better than yours argument is pathetic and reminds me of the Spectrum versus Commodore 64 schoolyard arguments.

SFMM, KBF, HelpSir Clinksalot replied to SonOfBeastSucks's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! Depends on what your looking for. SFMM has more "Coasters", but Knott's has coasters and other kinds of rides Knott's: Coasters: Xcelerator Montezooma's Revenge Silver Bullet Ghostrider Jaguar Boomerang Others: S&S Drop Tower, La Revolucion, Good Log Ride, Good Mine Dark Ride, Rapids Ride, Good Food SFMM: Coasters: Scream Goliath Superman Ninja Batman Riddlers Deja Vu Psyclone Colossus Viper X Revolution Gold Rusher Other: Some old style flat rides, a rapids ride, flume, mediocre food at best. Just save yourself the hassle and go to Disneyland.

no limitsSir Clinksalot replied to phazan's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness 1. It depends more on your connection than your computer. But shouldn't take that long. 2. Not sure, but I don't see why you couldn't. You do need a registration key for the full version though. 3. Yes 4. There are some pre-made elements, but for the most part custom. You can also copy elements from other coasters to use. 5. Yes

Walking speed is personal preference, I don't mind it myself but I can see it could annoy. As for "waiting for group", most families I know especially with kids go around parks TOGETHER. Usually that means waiting for some folks to catch up or waiting while little Jimmy runs to the Slide or whatever. To me, although I've only been in a few English parks, this makes sense (usually it's only one person waiting for group while the others finish what they were doing, buying a hat, riding a coaster etc.). I can understand some not liking the group behaviour and it would have been nice if frontier had included a toggle to turn groups off, but you can get rid of groups using custom peeps with madmabs batch file I posted about earlier. As for the peeps rushing to a ride when you plop it down. This is MUCH more realistic in RCT3, how many giant floating hands have you seen drop a new coaster in a park while you've visited ? NONE I imagine. in RCT3 much like in real-life you use advertising to get that effect. People want more realism, they get it and still moan

The one major flaw here is that, for RCT to be in 3D and REALISTIC looking, would take either a LOT more polygons or the use of more advanced graphics technologies like Normal Mapping. The problem here is that there are already hundreds of people complaining that the game won't run or run right even though Frontier aimed at relatively middling-spec machines. Frontier are handling A LOT MORE POLYGONS ONSCREEN IN RCT3 NOW than Valve do on Half-Life 2. Imagine if they'd used techniques and technologies that would make RCT look the most amazingly lifelike game on the planet but only those with 3Ghz machines and GeForce 7-series or ATI x800+ cards could run. They'd get far more complaining than they do now and they'd only make a tiny fraction of the sales they've made. They purposely made the game run on average machines, they even upped that spec slightly with Soaked. If they'd aimed lower so all the people with Onboard graphics could play you'd have either EVEN more cartoony peeps or a limit on the number of peeps in the park and no fancy effects like reflections and water refraction. People would complain that the game looks rubbish. If they'd aimed higher, even LESS people would be able to run the game, more people would complain and say that Atari/Frontier are stupid for expecting such high specs. But at least the 5 people that could play would be amazed by the graphics. Look at the debacle over Battlefield 2, you NEED a card from the last 6-12 months to even RUN it properly, they even stopped cards that theoretically (with a bit of tweaking) could run it from playing the game. You can't have your cake and eat it....
