Efteling Discussion Thread

It seems CSM have produced track for Mack a few times. And worked on Pulsar and Helix. Kind of like how Stakotra produce track for Intamin. https://www.csm.be/nl/productgroepen/pretparkattracties/ -
New Wanda Parks in China.
Gutterflower replied to Gutterflower's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Want to see something really quite strange? Intamin's new launched racing invert/sitdown coaster for Wanda Guangzhou in China has shown up at the Stakotra plant in Slovakia. During the launch and first inversion the track shares a kind of double spine track before splitting off for 2 separate duelling layouts. A big shout out to Mario M. at coasterfriends who dug this up. Sources: Stakotra via Coaster-Friends -

I did a quick search couldn't see this mentioned. Python at Efteling is being replaced. But in the same way Hulk was replaced with all new track. The weird thing is that it isn't Vekoma replacing the track Bad translation incoming. https://www.tvl.be/nieuws/achels-bedrijf-mag-legendarische-eftelingattractie-renoveren-51458?utm_content=buffer8bbf4&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook.com&utm_campaign=buffer https://www.looopings.nl/weblog/8922/Fotos-dit-is-de-nieuwe-baan-van-de-Python-in-de-Efteling.html -

This is quite an amazing story. 35 years ago a Schwarzkopf Jet Star was sold to Parque de la Ciudad in Argentina. The park was the subject of a national scandal during construction and its early years. The scandal involved misdeeds under the former military dictatorship and as a result, the park was never properly completed. Many of you will know the famous Intamin racing coaster Vertigorama from this park which was built but never operated. The Jet Star befell a similar fate and was never set up. The ride sat there for decades until eventually the ride was sold and entered storage in Santa Fe (Argentina not New Mexico) and seemingly vanished. Fast forwards to the present and the ride has reappeared, refurbished and repainted. Now incredibly 35 years after its original sale a Schwarzkopf Jet Star is getting its first riders. The Ride is currently operating in Saenz Peña at Ferichaco. [fbvideonew] [/fbvideonew]As a word of caution... I'd turn the sound down a bit for this video

New Wanda Parks in China.
Gutterflower replied to Gutterflower's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
yes assuming the stats the park give are correct (Not always a given in China) the ride is 60m tall. Which is around 197ft. Which easily takes Gatekeepers record for tallest wing coaster but also takes Flash's record for tallest inversion (52m/171ft) Here's a few more shots from inside the park. -

The Mystery Russian Togo.

Sorry for digging this up 3 years later but there is shock horror an update It has always troubled me that it clearly came from somewhere and didn't originally come from Maviland which opened in 2002 but I've never been able to track down where. Today a lot of searching and a fair bit of luck lead me to discover the ride's original location. The ride originally operated in the Russian city of Tula at the sweetly named Metalworkers' Palace. The ride operated from the early 1990s until 2000 when the ride shut down and was eventually moved to Maviland either in 2001 or 2002. Metalworkers' Palace also closed itself in 2003 following a fire and now sits home to a sports complex. Below are a couple of pictures of the ride operating in Tula during its final season in 2000. -
This kind of slipped under the radar but it seems the BBC (as in the British Broadcasting Corporation) will build a theme park on the Island of Hainan in China. Joining the 4 already under construction theme park projects on the extremely popular holiday destination. It sounds like the same kind of licensing deal that Six Flags has struck up in China and Dubai with another company paying to License the BBC name. It seems there will be 2 parks (although it could be one with two areas. The articles are a bit hard to parse) one themed to Top Gear and a second themed to Planet Earth The park(s) will be built somewhere in the Moon Bay region on the eastern side of the Island. More info on this as it appears I guess. Sources: https://m.sohu.com/n/493750590/?wscrid=95360_7 (In Chinese) http://www.sohu.com/a/135057859_663440 (Also in Chinese)

With the latest addition to the "is it a coaster?" debate. Suzuka Circuit in Japan has announced Duel GP. Advertised as the world's first "two-seater coaster that passengers can steer by themselves" http://www.suzukacircuit.jp/gpfield_s/duelgp/ I have literally no idea quite what type of ride this is or how the "Steer it yourself" bit works but it looks like it will be an nice addition to their already quirky line up. I mean this is the park that has a coaster where the launch speed is determined by how loud you can shout on the launch track. I think the best thing here is that the track is a mini replica of the Suzuka F1 circuit itself.

I see they are taking the Helix approach of changing the design every few weeks to keep us on our toes I like this design quite a bit better. I still kind of prefer the old Vekoma one but I'm loving the additional air time and the tunnel at the bottom of the first drop. Plus who doesn't like a water feature? Well with Vekoma building a new flyer at Phantasialand and rumours of another one heading to China for 2019 maybe they'll fix that issue. We can only hope. Of course personally I'd prefer the Stingray to actually be running when I visit again no matter what the harness system. Not that I'm bitter at all -

Out of interest why do you call the Wanda one a Knock off? I get it with the identical SLC's but the tilt coasters have their own layout and their own track system. If B&M built a tilt coaster I doubt people would call it a Knock off but it seems because its Chinese and it uses a similar element to another ride its a knock-off now. Not to start an argument but it just bugs me Golden Horse have actually sold 2 more tilt coasters. One should pop up at the new Suzhou Amusement Land location when the park is relocated at the end of the year. It seems after years of nothing the tilt coaster idea is coming back. It's a shame no one picked up the Giovanola Tilt Coaster concept when they were still around. Back then Vekoma even had a Hyper coaster version of the tilt design available but obviously no one ever bought one. Hopefully with the new Vekoma Renaissance recently any new tilt coaster designs might actually take off. -

More from Changsha and some nice shots of the new Vekoma. Also showing off the different ending when compared to Formula one at Energylandia. -
While not anything very new it seems Gerstlauer have a model of the 2 coasters they have planned for this park at this years EAS. This matches up with the description of the rides for the park given WAY back at IAAPA in 2014. http://www.coastersandmore.de/rides/achterbahnneuheiten2014/achterbahnneuheiten2014.shtml (IN GERMAN)
