  1. I enjoyed hurricane harbor a lot when I made my only trip there this year. It was suppose to rain all day but I was bored and took my chances and went anyway. The sun ended up being out until about 4pm when I was leaving at that time it started raining. Place was absolutely dead though. I'll go back a few times next year but I'll be taking my chances again on days when the forecast is iffy.
  2. While it's not death metal they could always partner up with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra for holiday in the park lol
  3. You know what they say about people who assume. Rutgers has a huge commuter population. That is, many students commute from places like Freehold, Toms River and Camden. And so Six Flags is actually closer to many of them than school is. Oh, by the way, I actually work at Rutgers and currently employ 10 students in my department, so Im acutely aware of their travel and job habits. 3 of my current kids live in Jersey City and commute to New Brunswick to work for me, and thus spend $21 round-trip to work. Nice try though. I also, at one point, worked at a near minimum wage job where many of my coworkers drove over 70 minutes to. Some people just have a better work ethic than you. Back on topic: If I take advantage of the flash sale, which includes free parking, am I charged for parking on the first visit, or can I show the receipt and they let me into the lot for free? Thanks. Are you paying them minimum wage? They are also working for you to gain experience in whatever field. The sacrifice is worth it in that case. There isn't a lot of room to move up at six flags in pay, between gas and tolls I'd be working for next to nothing for terrible hours and pay. It makes more sense to just go work local retail or fast food then at six flags, it has nothing to do with work ethic.
  4. My mom is in her late 60s and Nitro is her favorite but she will still go on any coaster in the park. I will admit as she keeps getting older I do get a bit concerned with her riding coasters but she loves it and she's the person who always took me to the theme parks so I enjoy seeing her still being able to have fun on extreme rides at her age. I hope I can still go on them when I reach that age.
  5. This is true, but it's always been my firm belief that if you give less than the very reasonable suggested donation you're a complete a**hole. I live here and already pay enough taxes so it doesn't bother me.
  6. Just an fyi for anyone visiting the met or the museum of natural history, it's only a suggested donation to enter them. There are some other museums like this as well. Sometimes the people at the registers will give you an attitude about it but you can give a dollar if you want.
  7. I love these trip reports as well lol I wouldn't make a special trip for it but I would still go for a day if I'm ever up there again.
  8. Hopefully this one is nothing more then a few bruises.
  9. I wonder why they put the netting so low, if it was placed up higher that would give a lot more leeway if the raft got air time but it would still keep the boat and riders from going over the side. My only guess is the ride wouldn't look as good with nets so high up.
  10. This news video from today shows that a piece of the netting looks bent Caleb Schwab killed on Schlitterbahn ride:
  11. Watching the pov videos of this ride, those nets seem awfully low. Has anyone here actually been on this ride? Maybe if they were up higher this would have been avoided?
  12. This video shows those tests where the boats and sand bags went flying Opening of world's tallest water slide Verruckt d…: http://youtu.be/56gYUxlRBHs
  13. Ugh I can't even imagine that happening, thoughts out to the family and friends, especially to the other 2 that were on this ride when it happened.
  14. http://kcur.org/post/young-boy-dies-verr-ckt-worlds-tallest-water-slide-kck#stream/0 The child who died was the oldest son of Kansas Rep. Scott Schwab, R-Olathe. Many lawmakers were at Schlitterbahn for Elected Official Day.
  15. Yikes that is awful. Just watching videos of this ride, thing looks crazy
  16. Other then slow operations how are the crowds normally at this park? I'm thinking about going next Sunday.
  17. I'm thrilled that this isn't on Nitro. This version sounds exactly like the fighter jet one with aliens except they just replaced them with gargoyles lol
  18. 100, 200 and 300 foot towers next to each other would have looked cool and could have been used better as a progression for people to up their thrills but like others have said maybe they couldnt go that high. Either way I'm looking forward to getting back there soon.
  19. I'm looking to maybe get Hershey Park season passes next year, what are everyones thoughts on the 230 buck season pass plus option that gets you in the rest of this year and next year? I'm like 2.5 hours away from there and really enjoyed it the last time I visited.
  20. All the clues are here http://www.hersheypark.com/2017/
  21. Hershey has been releasing clues the past bunch of weeks about what the ride will be.
  22. Anyone going today? I'm debating going to hurricane harbor if it actually opens since with his weather the crowds might not be so bad and I still haven't gone there yet.
  23. I agree, I really enjoy it. It's fun not knowing how many times you may flip and all my rides have been different so far. I just wouldn't wait any longer then 20 minutes for it.
  24. I found the skyscreamer in new England to be way more scary then zumanjaro and I usually don't have any problems with heights.
  25. I don't care either way about the game but unless it's a special event trains shouldn't be waiting so people can sync their phones up to play the game while on the coaster.
