  1. Call me crazy, but my gut feeling tells me that there are possibly three RMC projects at Cedar Fair next year. Canada's Wonderland's announcement is still pending, KD's big hype turned into a big let down, and Cedar Point announced the closure of Mean Streak with no news on what's to come. Something tells me that Cedar Fair and RMC are still working out the final kinks in the designs, contracts, etc. and it may be due to RMC's troubled year with Lightning Rod and the recalls. It probably threw Cedar Fair off and they had to compromise with their capital announcements.

  4. Are you sure, could've sworn they were going to be up-charge?
  5. I wonder where Keith is now? Is he the same Keith McVeen that's senior production designer at Universal Orlando?
  6. Here's what I think it will roughly look like. Of course with the new kid's structure replacing the current one near Zoom Flume.
  7. I'm not too familiar with Worlds of Fun, but haven't been they rumored to get a Premier launched coaster for a couple of years now? Could that be one of the four additions?
  8. Words to live by. And to think, next year another world's best 'M' will join them. Mean Streak!
  9. The VR experience will never be fully efficient (at any chain/park) until the headgear is designed in unison with the trains/restraints, on a 3-axis adjustability and 360 degree (or at least 180) maneuverability, and not to mention self cleansing. Which is never going to happen.
  10. Any coaster you build can "break records" it all depends on how ridiculous you want to get. For example... if it's an Iron Horse they'll "shatter" these 3 records that Valravn "set"... - Most Rides at One Amusement Park - Most Steel Roller Coaster Track at One Amusement Park - Most Roller Coaster Track at One Amusement Park But I don't think the park is interested in investing money to break records nobody cares about when they can just make them up as they go instead. Don't forget, with Cedar Point you're bound to get another 5/6 records: world's tallest, fastest, longest, longest drop, steepest drop (and may even most inversions on a) hybrid roller coaster.
  11. Neither do Cedar Point's Soak City, Ocean's of Fun, nor Valleyfair's Soak City. My guess is it will go to Ocean's of fun or Valleyfair's Soak City because Carolina Harbor just opened with a brand new expansion and how dare Cedar Fair place a used ride at Cedar Point
  12. This discussion happens weekly, but the short answer is this: they want to make money. And to add to that, those little parks don't generate (relatively speaking) enough money for the chain to warrant the large investments Cedar Point, Canada's Wonderland, Kings Island, and Carowinds are getting.
  13. I'm at Carowinds for the first time ever right now. Taking a quick break before getting back to it, but I did notice something odd about Fury. The subsequent train seems to begin ascending before the train on the course hits the break run. I know the likelyhood of Fury valleying next to impossible with that speed, but shouldn't block procedures still follow? Or is it timed so that the train on the course finishes its course before the ascending train crests the hill, that way the chains can stop if they have to? Anyone notice this? Is this the same case for other gigas, including MF? I've never really payed attention. PS: really love the park! I'll post a full photo trip report later.
  14. That would be a water tower. The township I live in built one a few years ago very similar to the one CP is getting. They build the top part on the ground, then raise it up to its final position at the top. I was very confused on it as well when ours was getting built. Here's the final product (pending giant Cedar Point logo plastered on theirs.) That's unfortunate, I thought we were getting something pretty cool, like this:
  15. GCI coasters are great, but their retracking is pretty bad. The coasters turn out smooth, but that's about it. They turn out rather forceless and boring compared to their previous incarnations. Timber Wolf is an example. Use to have ejector airtime and decently steep drops. Now it has a little floater airtime and ramps. Always wish for RMC instead. ALWAYS. Knott's fans are in for a surprise if they think Ghostrider will be the best woodie in California next month. Okay, well I don't care who re-tracks it as long as they do a great job and maintain the airtime! I just wouldn't want to see Mighty Canadian Minebuster get RMC'd as I enjoy this coaster the way it is, especially since it has some historical significance of being modeled after the Shooting Sat at Coney Island (Cincinnati). RMC does simple wooden retracking too. They've done it to plenty of coasters. They used to. I think they stopped re-tracking coasters when the I-Box track was introduced.
  16. I wouldn't mind Boomerange and Time Warp at MIA. I know they're used and not popular umongst enthusiasts (I completely understand why) but it's a way to grow the park and bring more people in. It will set up the park for the future and one day we may see a B&M hyper and/or invert take their place .... What? One can dream a little!!
  17. Come to think of it, has there ever been an Intamin coaster that hasn't needed modifications from the initial design?
  18. I live in Sarasota and I went to Siesta Key today and noticed they opened new private pergolas, and it gave me an idea for Cedar Point. There's 1,200 feet (according to Google Earth) of unused beach property with lots of potential being neglected right now, stretching from Gatekeeper to Kinzel's home. What if Cedar Point were to add these premium pergolas/picnic shelters for families. Each can have a grill, fridge/freezer, picnic table, and a hammock. They can be designed to accommodate 4-16 people for different sized or multiple families or even group outings. They can be rented out like cabanas; families get premium parking in front of their pergola, drop their things off in the morning (fridge/freezer come in handy) and come back whenever they want to grill, eat, and relax on the beach. In the center can be a small marketplace with bathrooms, free propane, a Coke freestyle machine, and sell condiments, buns, burger meat, chicken, hot dogs, sausage, etc. if families come unprepared. At 1,200 feet of stretch, you can place 60 of these units if they're spaced every 20 feet or so. Cabanas at Soak City go for $100 a day, but I bet these can go for $200 to $300 (if not more) if they offer a 'premium' setting with high end grills and 'free' cleaning/accommodation/etc. $300 x 60 units x about 120 operating days = 2.16 million in extra revenue (I know that's not profit) the park is not currently making. Here's a rough drawing I did to kind of give you an idea. A sidewalk cutting across the parking lot will connect the main entrance to the central market place. The gray strip of 'paint' is the premium parking I was talking about. The green is the patch of grass where all the pergolas will be scattered across. I know Cedar Point has many plans to be worried about, and probably plans including this area, but is there any way for us 'normal' folks can get our ideas to them? Because I'd love it if they even heard me on this. Here's what I was thinking for the grill/fridge combo:
  19. O. M. G. Would you look at all those BOATS!
  20. California's Great America, Dorney Park, Valleyfair, Worlds of Fun, Michigan's Adventure, Wildwater Kingdom... Need I say more? You sir are blinded by fanboyism that you can't see good you have it compared to the parks I just listed.
  21. Oh god yes... Please please please let it be a darkride. If KI gets a new coaster before we do I just might boycott all CF parks Lol calm you saggy tits. Canada's Wonderland has gotten Behemoth, Leviathan and Wonder Mountain's Guardian in less than a decade. That's more than most Cedar Fair parks, let alone parks in general. In that same span, Cedar Point has gotten Gatekeeper and Valravn. No reason to be greedy, Wonderland will get it's coaster soon, just be patient.
