I took my first trip to Six Flags America yesterday, and I was very surprised! The park looked very nice and clean, and the employees were very polite and nice. The park was empty because of the weather, so the one-train operations didn't affect anything. I was there for the Jeepers it's Spring event, so I saw some presentations, a backstage tour of Superman, and Superman ERT at night! Here are the rides I did: Batwing x 2, front and second-to-last rows - This ride is very smooth for a Vekoma! It was like Superman: Ultimate Flight at SFGAd, but more fun in my opinion! On my second ride, there was some kind of power-outage I think, so I was stuck on the ride for 20 minutes. But it was still fun! Wild one x 5, front row three times, and back row twice - WOW! What an awesome ride! It's running really smoothly and fast, and there are some KILLER moments of airtime! This is by far the best ride in the park, and also the laterals and helix are awesome!!! Classic ride. Ragin' Cajun x 1 - Just a regular spinning mouse. It's okay, but it's certainly no Exterminator. Voodoo Drop x 1 - Good drop tower! A lot of fun. French Quarter Flyers x 1 - It didn't snap because it's a Larson, but all flyers are still fun! Superman: Ride of Steel x 7 second row five times, back two rows once each. - The trains are pretty bad. The leg/ankle restraints are painful, there is not enough leg room, and the lap bar is a bit uncomfortable. The seat belts are also too short. My dad couldn't ride because he couldn't get the seat belt on, even though the lap bar fit fine on him! I was almost rejected for being too fat on the second ride because of the seat belt, even though I can easily fit on literally every other ride, including the infamous Superman/Bizarro trains at SFNE. But I could get on fine. The ride is fast and fun with a lot of airtime, and the big helices are awesome! I eventually found a good way to sit in the train. You keep your feet on your toes, not flat on the ground, then you move your feet to the edge of the leg restraints, so there is less pressure in one spot. So yeah, the night ERT was awesome and I got to ride four times in a row at one point without getting off. This is probably my third favorite ride in the park. Joker's Jinx x 2 front row and second-to-last row - Fun coaster! It's not that intense, but it is just really fun. It has to be re-painted though! Riddle Me This x 1 - I'm a big fan of round-up rides, so this was so adorable! It's just a mini round-up, but it still has some good forces! I think this ride would be good at other small parks like this. And I could easily see one of these at a park like Quassy. This ride is just so cute I want to cuddle with it! Rodeo x 1 - This is like a mini break dance! It was surprisingly fun and forceful. Cool ride! Roar x 3 front row every time - Another hidden gem! The re-tracking has helped a lot, since it feels like a brand-new coaster! It really feels like it was built this season! There are a few good airtime moments, the twisty turns are just so much fun, and I love the tunnel section! It's not intense at all by any means, but it is just super fun and addicting! This was my second favorite ride in the park. So I had a great visit! Never in a million years would I expect a Six Flags park to take such good care of their wooden coasters. In fact, I thought the two woodies were the best rides in the park! This park has a bad reputation, but I didn't find it "ghetto" or "crappy" at all! The operations left a LOT to be desired, but the park was empty so it didn't matter! I wouldn't plan on going back anytime soon because it's a little bit far from my house and it's kind of small and I did everything I wanted to ride. But I had a great time! Hell, the trip was worth it for Wild One alone! Also, DO NOT MISS ROAR IT IS SO SMOOTH!

Disney! Sky Rocket I or Sky Rocket II?

I'm going to the park for the first time tomorrow. I'm there for an ACE event with Superman ERT. There is apparently supposed to be a VR "Demo" for the event. I'm not sure if this means the VR will be an option during the ERT, if they will give us the headsets without riding it, or if it will be limited to a few people, or what. Is anyone going tomorrow, and does anyone have any tips? I'll post a written, non-photo trip report probably on Sunday to tell everyone how it was and what the deal is with the VR demo. If I get a chance to try it, I'll report on how it was!

Here's a portion of a one-star review of Quassy Amusement Park. It's simply golden!: Most overly priced place I've ever been to... How do u charge a 6 yr old an adult price just because he is tall.. No other amusement park does that.. 1. The park is very reasonably priced. 2. The price is that way since he can ride every ride, not just a limited selection. 3. Yes, other amusement parks do that. There's another review on the same page featuring a super true and totally not made up story: the rides and water slides were completely unsafe my first water slide I went on the tube flipped me over i hit my face and my arm got cut and was bleeding the life guard stood there and didn't do anything Yep... seems legit!

I actually really loved the second half a lot! The zero-g roll and corkscrew both have a nice whip to them, and the helix is pretty forceful. Also you interact more with Le Scoot, and there is more theming, so it is very creative and smart how they did the layout so that you would have the less intense part be very scenic.

The snappy cobra roll on Alpengeist really throws you around and it feels like the train will fly off the track, but it wasn't too rough, and it certainly isn't painful. The turn into the mid-course brakes is pretty harsh, but it's fine if you brace yourself for it. I would actually put Alpengeist into the "pleasant surprise" category. Because it's an old-school B&M invert on a giant scale, so I knew it was going to be awesome. But it ended up being in my top 3 steel coasters of all time! I wasn't expecting that.

I think the back is slightly better, but it is awesome in the front since you get the better view, and the wind going right in your face gives you a great sense of speed! But the back is much more forceful. Usually on less crowded days I ride the back and then wait a little extra for the front, too.

When I was in elementary school there was a rumor that someone died on Kingda Ka. The story was that a guy was at Six Flags Great Adventure on his birthday, and when he rode Kingda Ka, the ride suddenly slammed to a harsh stop on the top hat. Then he just randomly fell to his death for no reason. ---> Another rumor at the same time was that Great American Scream Machine was re-themed to Medusa, and then re-themed to Bizarro.

So I went back to the park again today with my brother and sister for a shorter, calmer, more low-key day mainly to go on Safari Off-Road Adventure. There were more family coasters and flat rides than thrilling coasters, but the point was to mostly go on rides that my siblings would be okay with riding. I got there with my family at opening, went on some rides, went on the safari, and had lunch. Kingdom Gyro is finally open, and that is one of the few places that I like to eat at the park. Then we saw the tiger and lion cubs, did some more rides, got water ice, and left around 3:00. So we were actually riding things from 10:30-2:30. The park obviously wasn't as empty as it was on Monday, but crowds were relatively light. The operations were mostly slow, but they were fast about 1/3 of the time. The weather was beautiful and the park was clean and looked great. After visiting twice this week, I'm starting to become very hyped for the Joker, which will hopefully open in 2 or 3 months. Here is the final ride list: Poinsettia Takis Cult Mountain x 5 back row marathon!!! - My family loved this ride in the back, and the coaster was running well today. One of my main goals was to get my brother to see the truth of the greatness of the first drop. Mission accomplished! We were able to ride all five times without leaving our seats! The operators were working very hard, despite the fact that there was no line. Runaway Airtime Train x 1 random row in the middle - The ride was fun and jerky, and the ejector hill was great as always! The operations were HORRIBLE though! Long live Runaway Mine Train! tehclitofrun-awaymientrane.blogspot.com/ Kingda Ka x 1 second row - A little bit rough and the operations were slow, but it was fun and fast like always! Safari Off-Road Adventure - Everyone knows how great this attraction is! Swashbuckler x 1 - I'm a big fan of round-ups, and I was able to get my siblings on this, believe it or not! Zumanjaro: Drop of Doom x 1 - Man, I always love that ride! One of the best flat rides out there. The operations were HAULING, even with no line! The weird brony kid was especially good at loading. Twister x 1 - It ran the 4-flip cycle, since there was a line. Buccaneer x 1 top row - This is a decent swinging ship, but it isn't as good as the ones at Hershey Park or Morey's Piers. El Diablo x 1 - Good flat ride. I didn't have a chance to ride it last time, but it had a short line so I did it this time. So this was a shorter, but successful trip. I had a great time, even though it wasn't focused around the big coasters.

If you get there early and go to the low capacity rides like Fahrenheit first, and follow a good schedule, the lines shouldn't be a problem if you know what you're doing. I usually like to go to Fahrenheit first, and do the rides near the center of the park. Then I like to go to Great Bear, then go to the other rides near the front of the park. Then I wait a while, eat, or take videos or pictures, then go to the back at the park when most of the crowds are at the water park. It also depends on what rides you want to do. If you want to get every coaster credit, you could definitely get it done in one day easily. If you want to go on water rides (Coal Cracker is one of the best log flumes I've been on), or flat rides, it will be a little bit more difficult. But it can still be done in one day. If it's possible, I would recommend getting the Preview Plan. This lets you get into the park 2.5 hours before the park closes on one evening, and then you get the whole day afterwards. This lets you do the rides at the front of the park while most of the crowds are near the back of the park. If you do the Preview Plan, you can do everything done with no problem. I've been going to this park for almost 10 years since I was very small, and this is what has worked for my family the most. This is one of the best parks in the country, and I hope you have a great time!

I decided to take my first visit of the season today, and it might be my best trip to the park yet! The park was empty and it was raining in the morning. There were no lines at all that I waited on. The operations weren't great, but they were better than usual. The operations obviously didn't matter today. Some of the rides were occasionally closed during the morning, but all the important ones were running eventually. So I must give credit to the park for not giving up! The park was very nice and clean. I got to the park at about 10:45, and started riding things around 11:00. Later in the day, I met up with Coaster Studios and some of his other fans, we rode some coasters together, and we helped him film a few videos. I did have food in the park at Johnny Rockets, and it was one of the only places that was open, but it was decent enough. I also saw the lion and tiger cubs, otters, and baby goats. DO NOT MISS THEM!!!!! I finished riding things around 5:00, and left at 5:30 Here is the final ride list: Sky Screamer Swashbuckler - Slightly different cycle this year. It used to always finish with half a rotation, but now it ends with a full rotation. Zumanjaro: Drop of Doom Twister - Has a new cycle which includes 6 flips instead of 4. Houdini - I was completely by myself, which was kind of weird Bouldikus Skull Skank Poinsettia Peak Takis Mountain x 3 back row. I was VERY skeptical of how strong the drop would be in the back, but it really delivered. I now see the true love that the Skull Mountain cult is preaching about! Nitro x 1 back row. Ran very well! Batman: The Ride x 2 front and middle rows. This thing is FORCEFUL this year, especially with the wet track from the rain! Dark Knight x 1 Kingda Ka x 1 front row. A little rough, but very fun. It had some technical difficulties, but it eventually opened. Bizarro x 1 front row. It was pretty rough today, strange, it was a LOT smoother last season. Oh well, still a great ride, and I still "got twisted" I guess. That's what really matters. Runaway Mine Train x 1 front row. I had a great ride on it. Classic Arrow mine train coaster. The ejector hill on it may take the crown for the best airtime on a kid's/family coaster away from Skull Mountain for me! Superman: Ultimate Flight x 2 back and middle rows. More fun than I remembered! EL TORO X 3 BACK, FRONT, AND MIDDLE ROWS. THE WORLD'S GREATEST COASTER WAS RUNNING FANTASTICALLY TODAY WITH ITS WET TRACK. TONS OF POSITIVE G'S, LATERALS, AND !!!!! So this was a fantastic visit, and the perfect way to kick off the season!

Thunderbolt has some of the most ridiculously insane laterals you will ever experience! It is a very unique coaster. Also, The Racer isn't that intense, but it is still a lot of fun. -
I was planning to take my first visit of the season tomorrow. It's supposed to rain during the morning, there is a smaller chance of rain around noon, and the rain is supposed to stop completely around 2 or 3. So I can confidently say that Kingda Ka and Zumanjaro will most likely be closed at least 60% of the day. But I'll probably go anyway, since the other coasters should be running extra well, especially Toro and Batman. Plus, the park should be empty, since it is March AND it will rain. I'll update with a report about my visit, and I might try to meet up with Coaster Studios. If the rain ends up being too insane, I'll just go on Tuesday instead.

I have a lot of theme park dreams, and sometimes I have different dreams on different nights which are connected like a story line. One time as a part of a series of dreams I had when I was on a tour around the country of different parks visiting only kiddie coasters. One of them was at a family entertainment center, and there was a kiddie coaster which had a tiny loop and winged seats. You would get into these plastic seats, similar to alpine coaster seats, but it was sitting on the track like a winged coaster. And there was only one seat, with only one wing. So the hill/drop was literally 10 feet, and the loop was about 3 feet. In real life you would crash into the loop and you would die due to its size, but for some reason it just worked in this dream. That was one of the weirdest dreams.

Hey, those sound like great additions! Let's spend the next five pages discussing the height requirement for the cannoli stand. I'm not saying that this cannoli stand is bad, I'm just saying that it doesn't make sense for them to add one, since the waffle cart at Six Flags Great Adventure's holiday in the park has a much lower height requirement! And the rotten stale pretzel carts at all the parks have a low height requirement for all ages. Even though the park needed a cannoli cart, and all the cannoli stations at Kings Dominion are too small, I'm just saying that they should have added a rotten stale pretzel cart. I'm sorry, I just had to do that joke!

I haven't been to Dorney Park yet, but we're getting Cedar Fair platinum passes this season! Now I'm really getting excited for Thunderhawk, since I'm a huge fan of classic PTC coasters, even when they're on the rougher side. But I hope they re-track the coaster in the next few seasons. Because the fresh trains will smooth the ride out temporarily, but only for the next two or three seasons.

Year-long weekend schedule. Hershey Park or Kings Dominion?
