Valleyfair (VF) Discussion Thread
millertpr replied to the_rock401's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This is a crazy thought, and I don't think it will happen. But just a thought, so I thought I'd throw it out here: Within the past few days, Knott's closed Timberline Twister, a very small and compact kids coaster. What if this was transferred to Valleyfair's Planet Snoopy to go in the plot of land formerly occupied by Snoopy's Junction? If it could be moved and the ride still works, I think it'd be a good addition for a park that's heavily advertising to families with small children. The park needs something in between the powered coaster and Mad Mouse. -
Went to MM for the first time today. What a horribly run park. Today, one of the busiest days of the year (Saturday in July), all of the following were closed: Riddler’s Revenge Justice League Lex Luthor Ninja Apocalypse Log Flume Backwards on Superman Ride ops were terrible. Parking was almost to capacity. Just a terrible day. Is the park dead on Tues/Wed nights?

Did anyone notice that Valleyfair removed the small Snoopy's Junction kids train ride behind the monorail? I've always thought this would be a prime expansion pad, especially given that Valleyfair seems to be marketing more to families. Any work being done? Are the train tracks/sign/station still there? Or is it all gone? Have to remember that in the last 5 years, Valleyfair has added 0 new rides, and now, they have removed 5 attractions: Snoopy's Moon Bounce, Snoopy's Junction, Dinosaurs Alive, Looping Starship, and RipTide... -

Are there reservations available for 6/26? I don’t want to buy a ticket and find out that the day is all booked. If someone can help me out, that would be greatly appreciated. -

Chickie and Pete's is not returning for 2020. It looks like Valleyfair will be bringing back Stadium Grille. This was the name of the sports bar several years ago. Personally, Chickie's was one of the better food options in the park. Sad to see it go - even though the building remains. -
According to the website listed below, Six Flags Over Texas will be receiving a Mack Power Splash. This is found in shipping archives, and is known to be accurate. It has been confirmed by industry insiders. Should be a fun edition! I believe SFOG could receive the same. https://panjiva.com/Six-Flags-Over-Texas/2136796

I personally believe Cedar Fair’s next move has to be adding on to the water park. Right now, we have a good foundation - but there needs to be more. I think that if Looping Starship is removed, there is enough room for a large addition (i.e. mat racer). Completely separate- I think the outdoor stage by the Galaxy Theater has seen its last days. This year, the Chick-fil-a stand is right there. While this plot of land is so small that it’s not really usable, I could see a more permanent Chick-fil-a restaurant/stand being built. Valleyfair’s attendance seems down this year. Let’s hope for some change this offseason with a new addition. -

Going back to the loose article policy, I think a lot of the concern draws from the fact that many people are literally addicted to their cell phones. Even 5-10 years ago, this wouldn’t be as big of an issue. I think now, people always feel that they “NEED” to check Twitter/Snapchat/Instagram every 15 minutes. Yes, I get it would be nice (and pretty standard) to have your phone in a line that long, but it is really sad to see that people seem to believe they can’t survive without it. -

No FastLane needed; I suggest this order: - Steel venom - High roller - Mad mouse - Renegade - Excalibur - Wild Thing - Corkscrew -

This is a bad thing? I'm kind of baffled as to how this is surprising. If I’m a paying guest at a theme park, I shouldn’t have to hear many, many ads about buying something; I’m here to see a dog show — not watch ads. -

Anybody else see the new dog show? I thought it was OK. Good: some good tricks, visually pleasing Bad: lots of advertising (buy this souvenir save the dogs), very repetitive, dogs don’t always do what they are supposed to -

Chick-Fil-a is at VF now? That is news to me. Where is it? Must have missed it on my couple visits this year. Chik-Fil-A has taken over the Chicken Shack by Planet Snoopy on select days. Locations outside the park are sponsoring(?) it. So it does not appear to be a permanent Chick-Fil-A location. Temporary this year but the manager said there are plans to bring Chick-fil-a full time to VF next year. I’m not lying or exaggerating. -

I am looking for information on getting a job at Valleyfair this year as an instrumentalist, but I see no openings on the Jobs website. Does anybody have any Valleyfair entertainment email addresses? Or if an outside company produces the shows, do you know what company that is? -
Golden Ticket Awards 2017
millertpr replied to A.J.'s topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'll bet if you asked most of the people who voted in the Golden Tickets they wouldn't even know what Flight of Passage is. They probably would think it's some B&M Wing Rider at a Happy Valley park. We really need a new "Mitch Hawker" style poll so we don't have to rely on a "best of" list that is a complete fucking joke. I rode both this summer and Mystic Timbers is a much better ride. -
Went on them a couple weeks ago. As a person who doesn't really like inverted coasters, I don't mind them going, but I am concerned about the replacement. If Universal ends up making an "all-screens" roller coaster like Gringotts, I will be upset! I hope they make something like Revenge of the Mummy, where the car continues to move (and doesn't stop at every set) and has a thrilling piece to it. Universal has changed. That's fine-- and IMO, it's mostly for the better. But why Universal continues to keep The Lost Continent open shocks me. 2 meh at-best shows with a HUGE piece of land would be a prime place to expand Harry Potter. While I personally don't really care for the ride (I really like New Hulk), I think it's an odd move for Universal.

The Route 76 area is supposed to be the family friendly section of Valleyfair. We know this addition has an inversion or goes upside down. To me, this has to be Enterprise. It would fit well there, and if the smoking section was removed, there would be a large enough plot of land. As for Tilter's destination, my bet would be in the plot of cement by Auntie Anne's. -

I personally can't see it; the first sky warp is set to be announced by Skyline Attractions at IAAPA later this fall, not on Wednesday. I think the Skywarp goes to a smaller, independent park. And personally, I would prefer almost anything else to a Skywarp/or Larson loop. -

To me... 1. Enterprise is returning or... 2. RMC Raptor I may be crazy, but adding high thrill rides such as SolSpin in back-to-back years doesn't make much sense @ all. I think that it would be incredibly hard to market a Gerstlauter Sky Roller with one at MOA and Matt Hehl, one of the best in the business now in Wis Dells. Aqua loop tends to be a capsule drop slide; we have those already. Very excited for Thursday! Please post if anything has been submitted to the city! -
This completely shocks me. At Universal, rides like Rockit', Hulk, and Dueling Dragons have very high GSAT scores among guests. Yes, Dragons was the lowest rated of the coasters, but it was still a great pair of roller coasters. What is Universal's most frequent complaint? Repetition! People don't want to spend $100 to ride the same rides to a diffferent IP! They get boring and unimpressive. All we can hope for is something more on the line of Mummy or Space Fantasy, which would be great, as a coaster should be coming.

I like the red, white, and blue, but I absolutely hate the rainbow colors... not a political statement by any means, but the orange, green, and purple colors on a big red pole just don't fit. -

Speaking of Thunder Canyon: - This year, they added bins to the platforms; you can leave loose articles in the bins. - The geyser near the end of the ride rarely works. - The sprinkler at the end of the ride is either turned off or has been removed; this is the one that got everybody VERY wet. - Only about half of the water guns near the entrance actually work well. - Valleyfair doesn't seem to see the need to staff the ride operator booths that are in the ride. These ride operators used to have a microphone and tell people to sit down/fasten seatbelt, etc. So, why would I speak elaborately of all these changes? It seems as if Valleyfair is not putting much work into Thunder Canyon. While I love the ride, I could see it leaving in the future. No one would walk all the way back JUST for Thunder Canyon. Now here's an interesting idea, however. What if Thunder Canyon became part of Soak City after Excalibur was removed? If they removed the clothing rules, that could work very well.
