  1. Valleyfair News Today, What? 1) Valleyfair announced a contest on Twitter that features trivia and goes on daily for 40 days with 40 prizes such as tickets, behind the scenes experiences, and other food/games/etc. Sounds fun! 2) The 2016 Park Map was announced today. Nothing new --> other than Coke Fill up or refill stations are listed at 4-5 places around the park. I'm curious to wonder but fast to assume that these locations are with the new, spiffy Coke Freestyle machines ! So another reason to buy all season drinks! 3) On the map, 40th anniversary photo locations were listed. I imagine these to be just some cut-outs with hashtags on it so you post it on your social media.
  2. What are some of the minor things that are going to be announced?
  3. I've heard that these are not the best --but they are possibly able to be snapped.
  4. Cool! Also, if anyone's curious, Crayola Experience is open on May 26, according to the MOA website, and sells annual pass for $35.
  5. I wouldn't bank on it being open before the eight. Sometimes it just opens periodically for a couple of hours, and there's no use calling them to see when it's open from my experience. If they aren't giving a discount or free voucher out as well, I would just wait the 6 days. Oh, also, the owner/GM said that they had additional footage of the following places: Canada (from their sister location), China, a 90-second Christmas themed add-on, and possibly more.
  6. I believe it is simply a soft open -- did they have you fill out a survey for a free voucher? I also agree that the transitions could slightly be improved. Some items, you could see the squares made out on the screen. Which safety video did you see? I saw one that they borrowed from their Canada location and it had the stupidest, cheesiest moment EVER when two kids were running and the guy told them to stop and then gave them this wierd high five. Maybe make the safety video it a little more straight up and basic --> that just made me say, "Oh he is the worst actor ever!"
  7. WOF Fanatic and Buffalo Wing Rider, you are both the most annoying little fanboy brats in the world. Why don't you jut shut up and not ruin the thread with all of your crap. WOF Fanatic, Worlds of Fun hasn't got anything decent in years, and they aren't going to be up for another coaster in a long, long time. Their flat ride collection sucks as well. And there's no reason to be boasting and talking about WOF on a Valleyfair forum, so let's just be done with that. Now, on another hand, I think that the CGA announcement is impactful for Valleyfair. We all know that Oumiet told us that we are one of the three parks where we could see expansion. We hadn't heard about this for quite a long time. Knowing that even CGA is getting a large expansion and even a rezoning should be VERY good news for Valleyfair fans. A major expansion is now inevitable at Valleyfair and fans can shriek for joy at an addition of a coaster in the next couple of years. My guess is that next year is still a possibility --> I just think the park needs thrilling flat rides a little more, and either a starflyer/wind seeker, a Gerstlauter spinny thing that CW is getting, or something else could be coming to Valleyfair. Who knows? Guessing is the fun part!
  8. Flyover America @ Nickelodeon Universe Trip Report Alright, let's get started. After coming out of a movie, my party and I walked down from the fourth floor to see some lines coming out of Flyover America. Being curious, I went down there, and they said that they were doing testing -- the first tests open to the public. Unfortunately, they charged for testing, but it was only half-price compared to the normal everyday price. When you purchase your tickets, you will either get in line and ride within the next 30 minutes, or they give you a return time to come back and ride. They then check your tickets and make you take the infamous green screen pre-ride photo, which you can view in the gift shop at the end of the ride. After you take the photo, you will wait in line for the "next available flight". The flights run once every 15 minutes and the attraction has a capacity of 60, so don't be surprised if you have to wait a cycle. When you get in, they put you into three different lines which refer to the three different levels that you'll be seated on. They then put on a safety video, guide you up to your seat, where they tell you to put everything in a bag below your seat and buckle your seatbelt. The experience then starts. I just had to say that my expectations were completely blown away. I thought this would kind of be like a cheap 4D theater, but man was I wrong. This was a really, really good attraction and I'm even going to say it (and I've been on both Soarin's) --> It's better than Soarin. At the end, in the gift shop, they had a survey you could fill out to get a free pass for another day! It was great! Now, a Nickelodeon Universe ride wristband is not needed to ride the ride, and no discount is given for having a ride wristband. After experiencing the same old small rides in Nickelodeon Universe for years, I would definitely reccomend this -- now my favorite "ride" in Nickelodeon Universe --> second to Log Chute. Keep Reading Below!!! The CEO was scanning tickets and greeting! Queue Line... Green Screen Photo... meh This is the part of the line standing queue. Trivia appears on the walls though, which is nice. These show you how much time is until the next loading. Your shoes glow up! Safety Presentation -- pretty good and funny! They didn't have their own finished, so they used their other location's up in Canada. So plenty of Canadian stereotypes in the video! They assign you a spot to stand on. Not the best of pictures, but those are the three levels that they send everyone to. The doors lit up and everyone came in! The rows of seats with cushy backs! No on-ride photos, sorry. Here's the gift shop! More gift shop! Thanks for reading! Definitely go check it out! GRAND OPENING ON APRIL 8, 2016!!
  9. At Flyover. They are doing a spur of the moment opening. Expect a full trip report to come later today or tomorrow.
  10. I called them today to see if they would be doing any testing earlier this week, and apparently they are moving back their opening date because of an animation issue. They said it would open hopefully in early April.
  11. I would be cautious to call Flyover America an investment to Nickelodeon Universe, while it enhances the space in it by providing a quality attraction, it is a separate attraction not run by the mall. They had an open area, and it was leased to Flyover for a certain amount of money. Flyover isn't owned by the mall -- the mall owns Nickelodeon Universe and Moose Mountain though. If you look at what MOA has installed in the past several years, it isn't much better than Valleyfair (Shredder, TMNTurtles, Zipline, Brain Surge). I think the next investment that NU will make is going to be major though (roller coaster). It would be a shame if Valleyfair didn't beat them in the coaster race.
  12. One of the managers said it, as well as the sales and marketing coordinator.
  13. I would imagine them doing that. On another note, where have people found the cheapest wristbands to Nickelodeon Universe? It seems to me that the cheapest ones are the 2-for-40 pack that you can buy at Costco.
  14. It looks like it is a single theater with a capacity of 60 with three rows of 20, and a airport seatbelt is the only thing restraining you. Price of admission is $16-17 without any discount or packages added. I'm not sure what they would do for any sort of discount-- maybe someone reach out to Robb or Ernie to see if CLUBTPR would ask them about a special discount? Otherwise, it sounds like a pretty good attraction. I might go out there on Wednesday or so and take some video. I'm on their media list for another theme park media source I contribute to. I'll post pictures here when I get them.
  15. 2 Things in Reply: - You have literally the same ride at Nickelodeon Universe and a very similar ride in Extreme Swingz. - Mondial supposedly has a contract with Adventureland in Iowa that promises that they won't build up to 250 miles away.
  16. Would be nice. But the Valleyfair Cynic in my head sneers, Are you kidding? This is the park Cedar Fair wouldn't even toss a secondhand Boomerang (Geauga to Carowinds) or Invertigo (CA to DP)... Historically, VF gets Dorney's castoffs and these trains strongly resemble Thunderhawk's former PTCs. I'd love to be wrong about this, as those high-backed seats suck almost as much as the lapbars. Good luck with your lift-hill chats this summer! Yea, but Valleyfair has received numerous decent or better additions in the past 5 years and Dorney Park has just received crap year after year, so VF will be a larger park in the future for sure
  17. The carousel is going under a complete restoration. This "off-year" is starting to look a lot better -- new ride, new theater, new trains and restoration on high roller, restoration on carousel, great meals on the dining plan, and some kick-ass special events.
  18. Just a reminder that all who help MN Theme Parks, the charity that bring lower class kids to theme parks in MN for free with the link below (very easy and doesn't cost you anything) gets an amazing prize pack when they send me a DM. Please help out. It means a lot to the kids and to us when we are able to get new materials and resources. Thank you so much for your support. https://www.pearup.com/mnthemeparks/rally
  19. The likeliness of a coaster or any new attraction going in the back part of the park is extremely slim. Other than a new parking lot, a front gate coaster would make much more sense.
  20. They are allowed if you have 100 posts Even though I don't have 100 posts, this isn't really an advertisement, it's a link that I'm not sponsoring to a website that performs charitable work.
  21. Fellow TPR Members, Now that coasting for kids is "in the books", here is a Minnesota group that has a large impact on many youth. It would be great if you could support them. This is easy and does not require any donation of sorts. MNThemeParks is a very small group that has a big impact in the theme park environment. They run events for poor children in theme parks that would not normally be able to go to a theme park. They cover all the costs, fees, everything. Right now they are looking to get tshirts for their leaders. If you go to the link below, you can complete several activities of no cost to you that give dollars directly back to the organization. A great way to support a great charity. Also, if you complete the activities as recognized, shoot me a private message and I'll send you a theme park prize pack. I love this organization and want to help them as much as possible. Thanks! https://www.pearup.com/mnthemeparks/rally
