In other news... I do find it a bit racist that they are only using white water dummies. sorry couldn't help it. -

At Dollywood now and they are running water dummies on both trains every 4 minutes or so. Praying things are looking up! Edit one train has water dummies and the other train is empty. -

Folks the LSM's are working fine. The rollback videos have all been failure to launch by a censor before the launch. This censor issue is also happening at the break runs. It seems the more weight the train has the more censor problem they are having. That is why the train works so well when testing and then shuts down with a car load is in it. The only times I've heard of real rollbacks have been in testing when they made it rollback. I have a feeling (could be gas) but I think it is totally a train and censor problem and having RMC their seem to back it up. A good point has been made that RMC has never built trains to launch and these are one of a kind that seem to have a issue playing nice with the LSM's and the censors. That is why it's been so hard to keep it up and running in my opinion. Feel free to disagree. -

All parties involved in the construction and operations of Lightning Rod are doing all they can to get it running more reliable. Dollywood has all options on the table and working through them to get to the source of the problems. RMC has been at the park multiple times this season trying to get to the bottom of this. Dollywood had things running pretty well for the the first month and a half and then the problems started popping up. They haven't gotten to a point to have enough up time to really get a feel for what it needs to keep it up. The multiple sensors on the track seem to be having problems with catching all of the fins on the train. That causes a fault that shuts it down. Not trying to be a Fanboy for Dollywood, but I guarantee you if they could they would be running it. Everyday they try, but can't open if the computer gets a fault of any kind then they must track it down and figure out how to fix it. They can leave one day thinking things are good and the next morning it won't go. They know this is frustrating to the public just as much as it is to them. Best thing we can do is pray for lightning Rod to come to it senses and work like it was designed to do. Amen!!! Giving Dollywood grief is not going to speed up the opening and only hurts the chances of us getting more record breaking rides in the future. I've had the opportunity to ride it probably 50 times over the past 2 seasons and I can say it is a world class coaster. If you are coming from a great distance and this is the only reason for your visit please wait till it get more reliable if possible. -

I'm surprised that what ever the problem is that the vender isn't doing more. The Dollywood maintenance team seems to be doing all of the work. If they keep having to fix something over and over at some point you gotta think you might have to change something. It's very frustrating for everyone involved and I know folks in Dollywood maintenance are doing all they can. I'm sure they would tell us if they could, but contacts probably forbid it. -

If you get a chance go to the WBIR-TV Facebook page and check out the factcheck story they did on LR never being open. The story says it's only been closed 6 out of 47 days and people on Facebook are not buying it. The post below from the comments section was kinda funny! Enjoy -

I know for a fact Dollywood is pouring a lot of money in to getting LR up to the 98% mark they strive for with all of their rides. I am Not sure though how much longer they can continue to do this with out someone getting a notice to court. It cost them money and man hours everyday it not open. I pray and hope they get this worked out sooner then later. It is a awesome ride! -

Today would be a great day at the park if you have a poncho and some rain boots! We have had some very heavy rain over the last 24 hours. Hardly anyone at the park today. I saw another regional park carowinds closed early today due to the weather. -

I had the opportunity to stop by Dollywood for about 2 hours on Friday evening. Spoke to one of the a Lightning Rod op's and he said that it was working great that day with no downtime and no rollbacks. He did mention about the front of the train leaking a lot of oil and they put a pan full of kitty litter down on the track to catch it. He said when they first put it down they used a metal pan and when the train started out of the station it stuck to the train due to the magnets on the train it self. They had only one train going that day and the park attendance was under 5000. The wait for Lightning rod was 25 minutes. The day before when everything was 0 on the app times a employee told we they had under 2000 on that day and with the rain most went to shows. -
