Anyone going now through sept 5th can get an adult ticket online for the same price as a child. Makes it 52 instead of 65. If you come after 3pm you can get he next day free and get two days for 52. Not a bad deal!

I went Saturday around 4pm. Lightning Rod went down 10 minutes in to waiting in a 30 minute line. They cleared the que and after about 15 minutes reopened the ride. Great ride with 2 trains running. Went back around 9pm for a night ride and they only had 1 train running. 45 minute wait and around 9:15 it went down again. They kept everyone in the que and around 9:30 said they needed to do one test run and we would start again. Well we got the opportunity to hear the whole fireworks show and then they said clear the que because they couldn't get it back up. I was ok due to the fact I have road it 6 times since I live about 45 minutes away I can come back, but some did not take it well. The folks at the exits to the park got an ear full from some park guest. It's sad that they are in a no win situation. If they keep it closed till they get it fixed then no one gets to ride. If they open it up with issues they piss people off that wait in the hot que and might not get a ride. Someone said they cleared the que yesterday at least 5 times. Anytime they work on it they clear que. Really not sure why except they don't want people seeing what they do.

Please don't waste your time reading below if you don't care if lightning rod is running today. I'm at the park today and for those that care no lightning rod. Sign still up closed all day. I saw one worker, but no work being done that I can see.

Not sure if anyone else found this funny or not, but when the front page loads the graphics says lightning rod is closed at the request of RMC and so on. It then says click here for more info. When you click the more info button it brings up a new box telling you the same thing you just read with out anymore info. Sound like that could be the case.

What the latest on the problem? So far we know Dollywood Lightning Rod and wildfire are closed.

I'm no speed or GPS expert and that could be it. It would be neat to do it on a few other coasters and see if it any closer to the speed they post. This was my first time trying it. When I went back for my next ride I was going to try a different speed app via GPS, but it broke down.

That was the max speed during the ride according to the app. In no way am i claiming the app to be accurate for roller-coasters, just sharing what it said. Feel free to agree or disagree on the accuracy of it. also the airtime was amazing. I rode it on 5-30 and then again today and both rides were great!!!!

Went up tonight rode about 7:30pm. Used my phone GPS tracker and it said my top speed was 50.9 mph. Not sure how accurate it is on a roller coaster, but in my car it is spot on. Also went back for a night ride at 9:15pm broke down for 10 minutes and then opened it back. After 2 more trains dispatched it broke again and they evached the folks in the train waiting to come in to the station. Finally closed it for the night at that point. No night ride for me.

Was it worth the trip???

Tonight is the 1st opportunity for GP to get a night ride. Dollywood is now open till 10 everyday of the week through most of summer.

Looks like this weekend is going to be a little warm at Dollywood. If over heating is a problem this won't help. Hopefully they have everything worked out soon. Hot time at Dollywood. This coming weekend.

Lots of rain in a very short amount of time. It has has some minor flooding before, but this is the first in a long time that I remember. Chance of thunder storms are in the forecast through Sunday. I don't know if some of the drains clogged up or what? Pigeon forge had some flooding as well.

Looks like this might be a hint at 2017. Maybe they are bring back flooded mine.
