Pennsylvania Trip Planning

Plenty of parks to hit. The "do not miss" parks for me personally would be Kennywood and Knoebels. After that I would do Hershey then Dorney. With time Waldemeer in Erie is always worth a visit. -
I'm curious if they will be serious bidders for the Miracle Strip rides. Many there seem to fit in perfectly with what they were looking for in Europe. Also, not knowing exactly what all is included in the $7 million figure it doesn't seem all that outrageous if it included all travel cost, purchase of 7 rides, refurbishment of the rides and transportation back to the states. I will assume it doesn't include installation back here stateside.

Sorry, I forgot to quote. I turn 14 on the 19th but I am applying this weekend, will it still allow me to apply? Also remember these parks are trying to fill upwards of 2000-3000 seasonal positions. Depending on the size of the park. If you fill out your application properly, double check spelling, etc. (Please use correct spellings of words on applications and not internet or text shorthand, you're* for example not ur*)And do well on your phone interview (this will more then likely be how you'll be interviewed the first time) you really shouldn't have much to worry about. Not saying they hire every person they interview, but with that many positions to fill your chances of being hired are pretty high. If you do a phone interview one bit of advice is to go to a room that's nice and quiet. I was always turned off a little by people I couldn't hear or understand, you also don't want anyone coaching your answers. That was always a no for me if I heard someone in the background telling a person what to say. And don't be afraid to say it's a bad time to do a interview if it is, for example if you're out with family or at church, just ask to reschedule, you won't offend anyone by being open and honest. -
But the concept vid shows a RMC mega lite. "Concept" vid. Why do you have quotation marks around concept? I spelled it right, and it isn't confirmed to go to any parks, and I spelled it right. You should be putting quotation marks around vid, not concept. Perhaps he was using quotation marks for emphasis; in that case, italics would've been more appropriate. And let's not get too bent out of shape here, folks. Thank you. Changed it to italics, my whole point was if you're saying they couldn't use the Raptor track for a smaller coaster because a concept video was showing it being used for something else that's a little naive. It had nothing to do with spelling.

Shouldn't be a problem because you'll be 14 at the time you're hired and doing the paperwork portion. By law I don't think applications can ask for age other then over 18 or under 18 due to possible age discrimination. Not even sure if they have you list your birth date. But either way, just because you're 13 now won't effect you being hired as you turn 14 before the season starts. -

From past experience as a hiring supervisor at a CF park (Geauga Lake so this was about 10 years ago now) you're usually hired for your first choice of department that you apply for. Based on your age of course as some departments have age requirements. If the applications still ask for you to rank your departments in order 1,2, and 3 you should be hired for your first choice if offered employment. If your first choice department decides you're not right for them but still a good candidate they will then pass your application on to choice two. -

Possibly one of the most enthusiasty questions I have ever read. -

Corkscrews over the midway wouldn't be that hard to design into a new ride. All rides have a finite life cycle. It'll be removed when the business plan calls for it. -

When it comes to the new regime I wouldn't be surprised if a ride is taken out that is relatively new. WT wouldn't be the first Intamin ride built stateside that didn't have a long life. I'm not saying it will go, I'm just saying don't be surprised if it left before some older rides went. I would be all for Corkscrew to be removed, to me, it's a waste of space. I know it "serves a purpose" as being a intro to looping coasters coaster, but I feel that's how enthusiasts look at things. Not park management. I would love to see a nice compact looper take its spot, something like Impulse at Knoebels. Add a 3rd row to the trains, give it the ability to run 4 or 5 units to increase capacity, double load station. It could work, and would probably have a better output then Maverick. -

I think some of us are forgetting that Banshee and the B&M gigas have uncommonly long brake runs at the END of the rides. So essentially that block is there. It's just moved from the middle of the ride to the end. -

Not necessarily. B&M's have fairly fast moving lines, while Dragster and Maverick don't. These two rides are pretty much doomed to always have long, slow moving lines when they are actually operating. Best thing to do is try to hit the early and often, Maverick during early ride time. -
Do enthusiast opinions matter?
WolfBobs replied to neil009's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
When it comes to the financial bottom line, no, enthusiasts opinions do not matter to the park. We probably make up less then 1% of any given parks annual attendance, regardless of how many times we attend with our season passes. -

Tony brought this up on one of his Periscopes. Basically it's a low to the ground element that the smaller cranes could handle so they just put them in to stay on top of things. Once the lift is complete you MAY see more of this. Smaller cranes adding supports to other sections and waiting for the big cranes to catch up with the track. -
Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
WolfBobs replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'll throw my hat into the "remove Vortex" ring. The ride is terrible, boring and painful. I would much rather see a nice B&M, Mack (Bluefire) or Gerstlauer Eurofighter to take its place. Such a nice bit of real estate to be wasted on that ride. Kings Island needs a modern looper that's a people eater to compliment Diamondback and Banshee. Of course they'll probably get their giga before we see that.
