  1. ^ That is super cool. My favorite coaster in the park. So I guess it's a good thing I didn't find this.
  2. Diamondback is easily my favorite coaster at KI. Airtime bliss is a perfect description. Granted, we only ever rode in the back. With Mystic Timbers being right next door, that's a fantastic one-two punch.
  3. I have to admit that I was a little underwhelmed by MF. Awesome first drop obviously. The rest of the ride is fun, so I'm not bashing it by any stretch. Unfortunately only got to ride once, so I look forward to trying a few more times whenever we make it back. Side note: That moment when I realized I may have converted my girlfriend into a coaster lover (she'll never be an enthusiast). She used to always ask me if a ride is "scary." After riding MF, I told her how tall it is and her reaction was completely no big deal like, "Oh it didn't seem that high."
  4. I can affirm that the self scan lane worked fine with both our platinum passes (we left and returned so I scanned the girlfriend's the second time). But I also saw the car ahead of us having trouble with scanning (eventually worked).
  5. I noticed the park is open daily throughout September. I could have sworn that changed since I checked not long ago. That might work well for a quick visit when we're in LA for Hamilton.
  6. I bought a couple of buffs from REI specifically because of reading about muffleheads on this forum. The park wasn't open late enough for night rides but we saw plenty of them coming back from dinner in Sandusky.
  7. As we were driving out from Breakers today, I saw some of the ledgers for the section going through the structure under the lift area and it looks pretty nuts. Time will tell but I already know we need to come back sooner rather than later.
  8. This is definitely my kind of thread. I just hit unique beer #777 with Shandy Shores at Melt inside Cedar Point, but I'm really not familiar with the east coast breweries. Thanks for the Carolina Beer Temple info. We'll be at Carowinds in August so I'll have to keep that bookmarked. EDIT: Looks like they've opened a location much closer to Carowinds, so that works out perfectly. Not sure how helpful I can be. On our two trips to Dollywood last year (that damn/awesome LR), looks like we got our craft beer fix in Knoxville. We visited a brewery called Crafty Bastard and a restaurant called Tomato Head had some good food and tap selection.
  9. We saw Lumberjack Adventure last November and had a great time. Judging from your photos, it looks like they didn't change too much—maybe tweaked a few things and altered the storyline to align with Dolly's life. Thanks for the report.
  10. What, that's not a giant new sandbox? Reminds me of this place in Vegas called "Dig This" where you can play with an excavator or a bulldozer.
  11. Well crap. Visiting KI for the first time next month and I never even thought about having to pick which coaster for night rides. I guess we definitely have to do a quick night visit the day before our main visit. Sunset is just before 9 each night and the park closes at 10. p.s. First world problems
  12. Quick thought I had a few days ago when I found the official unofficial twitter account... Maybe they paused on the lift construction until after they complete the section of track that possibly goes under instead of over.
  13. Same here. We're heading down for the festival two weeks from tomorrow. I figure it's worth a try if there's not a long wait.
  14. Just know that they weren't an option last year, so it CAN be done. Haha. Hands up all the way through for me. By the end of the quad down, my jacket was bunched up by my armpits! Amazing coaster. I'm glad they added that option. I remember guests trying to figure out what to hold onto.
  15. Just to chime in, I'm a fridge magnet nut, though I recently removed the "fridge" from that equation. I bought a 24x36 galvanized steel sheet from Home Depot and put it in a 24x36 frame from Michaels. Looking forward to adding Cedar Point (and Kings Island) to that collection in a couple of months!
  16. I rode it at SFMM in the winter of 87-88. Don't remember much about the actual ride experience, but it was noteworthy because I had never heard of a stand up roller coaster at the time.
  17. It works both ways. I think third party sites get a pool of rooms that they can sell. I've seen the hotel web site sold out whereas I was able to book on Hotels.com. Anyway, just one more week until we're back in the Smokies!
  18. Excellent news. If I get to ride it once in a couple of weeks, at this point, I'll consider myself lucky.
