Your guilty pleasure ride
Physical replied to DanTheBooker's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Flyers, especially Bisch-Rocco flyers. If I go to a park with Bisch-Rocco flyers I'll ride them more than anything else. (Exception being the flyers at Carowinds, because we were too busy riding Fury 325 and the flyers are on the other end of the park.) -
I got to ride Intimidator 305 eight times in a row without leaving my seat, and 21 times total that day. The next day I did 12 laps on Fury 325 without any re-riding. I don't count this though as there was about a 10-20 minute wait between rides. Other than that the longest/densest marathon I did was 25 times on Demon Drop in an hour while doing morning tests.

I really enjoy Fury 325's first drop. It truly does just go on forever. I had to take a breath to scream more the first time I rode it. Second place is probably tied between El Toro and Skyrush in the back seat.

The Control Panel Enthusiast Thread
Physical replied to Montu Maniac's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
All RMC coasters have control systems designed by a third party. So there is no such thing as a RMC panel since RMC's at different parks will have different panels depending on what company was hired. All current RMC's have nearly identical panels, since Six Flags built them all in-house. So the above picture is what all SF RMC's look like. The only differences are the switches, because each coaster has a different amount of gates, the layout of the PanelView, a variation in the color of a button color/type for the buttons in the upper right of the Medusa panel, and for TC, there is an additional lift stop and lift start because of the second lift. Outlaw Run is the only difference, which was also built in-house. Its entirely different from the SF versions. That's actually really interesting, thank you for sharing. Thanks to livai as well for linking one! Now I'm curious to see what Outlaw Run's panel looks like though -

Does anybody have any photos of an RMC control panel? -

Bisch-Rocco flying scooters. From my (albeit limited) research, they were only a few thousand new. -
What is the best floorless?
Physical replied to ddaver177's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The very last row on the left side is incredible. I couldn't find a bad seat on Dominator to be honest. The front had a slight rattle but it was nothing compared to Train 1 on Hydra in the front. The hangtime on the first drop on the right hand side in the front row was a true "wow" factor the first time I rode it. I guess now that the season is over I can tell this story. Basically the first time I went to KD we got there about an hour before opening, and because my buddy and I worked at Dorney at the time, we had employee ID's with us, we managed to clear security in to the employee parking lot and managed to again clear security at the employee gate. We were in the park 45 minutes early, so we decided to linger around Dominator until they were done with daily tests. We got to ride it 5 times as the only 2 people on the train before people started hopping on with us. Very awesome experience. -

I really enjoy Dominator. The entire first half of the ride is positive-g porn. However I've only been on three floorless coasters, Hydra, Medusa/bizarro, and Dominator. -
Big Surprises on Coasters
Physical replied to gerstlaueringvar's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I haven't ridden Jokers Jinx but I've been on Flight of Fear @ KD, that last corkscrew is taken in complete darkness, really caught me off guard the first time. Heck, the first half of the ride had me questioning which way was up. -
Which coasters are the "most fun" to ride?
Physical replied to A.J.'s topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
But that's just it, fun factor is just as important to me as well, and it's why I consider Phoenix my top coaster, among other reasons. I (slightly embarrassingly) like to go "boing, boing, boing" on each of the hills on the last stretch. I like to take my non-coaster-riding friends on Phoenix because I know that they'll have as much fun as I do (and they do), and because they're not as intimidated by it. I know where all the airtime is on El Toro, yet Phoenix still always surprises me (likely due to slight variations in the non-pre-fabricated track). El Toro is absolutely phenomenal, and it's technically the "best" coaster I've ridden. But I hit that coaster's brake run catching my breath, whereas I hit Phoenix's laughing. El Toro is a coaster I walk to with respect, Phoenix is a coaster I run, skip and / or excitedly jump to. I would actually compare El Toro vs Phoenix to a McLaren 570 vs a Volkswagen GTI, if you know enough about cars to make that comparison. I agree completely. I'd rank them both my #1 wood for different reasons. -
Big Surprises on Coasters
Physical replied to gerstlaueringvar's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
These are good ones as well. Those are 2 of the most surprising moments on any coaster anywhere... I'm always incredibly surprised that a coaster is capable of sucking on such an unimaginable level. By the way, speaking of headchoppers I think my favorite is either Fury's helix or the bottom of Gemeni's first drop. +1 for Fury's helix. That support is scary close. I know it's outside the ride envelope, but I tucked my hands in every time at that point. -

I find Steel Force in the back row to be very fun. Surprising ejector airtime when you least expect it, but it's not extreme airtime, or a very intense ride in general. It makes for a very fun ride in my opinion. -
Big Surprises on Coasters

Honestly after not being much for coasters until the 2015 season, Phoenix surprised me. After reading what coasters are /must/ rides in my area, and finally deciding to make the trip out to what I thought would be a podunk park. I was absolutely blown away. On paper Phoenix isn't impressive, but in practice, sweet airtime bliss. Knoebels really surprised me in general. The first time I went the group I went with planned on spending 2 hours or so there, riding all their coasters, then heading down to Hershey for the rest of the day. We wound up spending 8 hours at Knoebels and it still wasn't enough time. -
Guess this Coaster! (By the Layout)

Correct! -
A friend from the park that I worked with over the summer and myself were speculating a while back. We figure if Dorney moves the front gate from where it is now down to where the Ferris Wheel is (and removes the Carousel Grove picnic area) we could get a lovely front gate coaster that follows the contours of the park. Considering the whole place is built on a reasonably steep hill. It'd be interesting to get a coaster with a ~150ft lift, where the drop follows the terrain, leading to a 200ft+ drop.

well I'm not artist but I'll give a more complex layout a shot (last one I did was Steel Force) -

That one has me stumped, I'm thinking it's some lesser known classic woodie, but the layout could fit so many of them! Maybe Coaster at Playland? -
That's not a bad idea actually. They'd have to do some building over the midway that runs by Possessed, but if they re purposed the land that's currently taken by Dino's Alive something reasonably long could be built there. At that location this theoretical coaster could have some neat interaction with Steel Force and Thunderhawk as well.
