  1. That´s right. You could feel something is wrong with it. Even if you rode it in 2015, you would feel the difference (at least riding in the last row). A friend of mine who was with me last year rode it once and said "never more". Anyway, I just have feeling that all Merlins park are going downhill. I just looked at the ride list of Heide Park and cannot get rid of that feeling that park is going to turn out into family park without real big and adrenaline attractions. Anyway, yea I don´t think I will visit Merlin parks anytime soon and I hope they seriously re-consider this. Although as you can imagine, for them it´s about nothing, but money, so I wouldn´t be worried to say Colossos is gone already
  2. If you can definitely go in the winter. It's wonderful. Taron in the dark is just amazing. Ahh, I just want to go so bad. I fish I had more friends willing to go though.
  3. This year was also my first at Phantasialand and also very impressed. It got to my nr.1 park too. Not big park, but bscly any ride is just gold <3. Definitely going again next year and still considering going there in winter too. Just would like to experience it in Dark.
  4. Heide Park was the first park where I realized how much I love Rollercoasters. It all happened after I took my first ride on Colossos. It has quite special meaning for me. I used to love that park. But then I visited it two more times and it was worse and worse each visit. Thorpe Park is the same, it could be quite nice park, but the way they run it is obnoxious. I mean, Thorpe Park is infamous for having problems with keeping rides up and running too. Demolishing Colossos will very likely remove Heide Park from my list alltogether. Seeing how Merlin stands right now, I doubt they would be able to replace it with something as good and as big as Colossos. Without it, there is pretty much no reason to go there. Flug der daemonen is fine, but that´s it... And yes, I do think this is Merlins fault, because they simply do not maintain their rides well. Their policy regarding maintaining rides is pretty much visible, especially in Thorpe Park (wondering, how long will the Colosuss last, it doesn´t look healthy too). I haven´t seen much coasters going this bad within only 15 years... Anyway, planning my next trip to Phantasialand again, as that is the park where they clearly care about everything...
  5. What´s possible "inappropriate"? about posting that here? Honestly, I sometimes don´t understand this wannabe "correctness", especially as in some other threads you can just click and see deadly accidents... And people will find it anywhere else, if they want, so I would just post it. If anything, it can only bring in some more awareness about this security concern...
  6. In one way, it makes sense and would explain why people flew off (even though I think after it snapped, it can easily cause restrains failure as well). I honestly doubt that simple eyewitness could notice all this. It clearly happened quite fast, I doubt even you would notice what operator was doing if you saw people falling off the ride....
  7. Thanks for all the tips. I didn´t know how amazing this park is. Every ride is a hidden gem. Totally love it
  8. Thanks for tips, going this weekend and I cannot wait. So far, do you have any idea if it´s worth taking taxi from bonn airport to get to Phantasialand? Or better to stick with public trans?
  9. Hi, I have bunch of questions. How busy are weekends in May so far? Is it worth getting fasttracks? I was also wondering whatever is the Ninja still closed due to the accident or is it operating? Planning my trip for 20th May and besides this any tops of not so distant sightseeings or interesting places is also welcome. Thank you
  10. I have never been to Chessington and I doubt I will, so not sure hows the attendance, neither about how exactly are they restricted in terms of height. I´m also being more or less sarcastic. Not sure what they gonna do about it, maybe they are just going to put it somewhere in museum or something.
  11. They took it down for this season only. They will do major refurbishment to make it more relyable and turn it into VR ride . Well, maybe if they don´t scrap it and have intention to move it somewhere, maybe to chessington?
  12. VR on The Smiler? Yea, that´s what stroke my mind right away. And I hope it´s not the case. The smiler doesn´t need such a treatment and if made obligatory, it will just ruin entire coaster.
  13. There were huge woodworm problems which were literally eating away at the supports and track and they spread a lot before there were noticed. Isn´t expectable for woodies? I think oher woodies suffer the same problems? I could imagine maintenance crew could check this more deeply from time to time. Maybe that would help to solve the problem before it got wide spread.
  14. I was just wondering what happened to it? I rode it for the first time in 2015. Then in 2016 (a month before it closed) and the ride was significantly more rough and I was surprised it got that bad just within less than year... I know it´s a wooden coaster, but I don´t think 15 years is that much...
  15. Exactly. Other coasters are not exactly bad, but Colossos is just king of the heide park and I wouldn´t be afraid to say one of the better coasters in entire europe.
  16. I was wondering, why not start a thread where people could gather and try to arrange trip together? If you guys don´t have anyone to go with, why not find that person here?
  17. I hope one day, you will just enter the park, put on the VR stuff and ride the rides. There is no need to build real rides anymore, because VR FTW!
  18. Maybe it is just me, but wooden coaster was decision I didn´t understand. Instead of that, they could have built something more unique to get some more diversity in this area. I haven´t ridden it, but as long as it is airt-time oriented as for instance colossus at Heide Park, isn´t it somehow just competing with Silver star?
  19. Sadly, I cannot have this experience in my hometown, nor in my country. I always have to travel hundreds of kilometers.... And I expect nothing, but unique ride from EP . Also yes, family oriented park doesn´t mean it shouldn´t expand on the thrill rides, because I would expect such a park to be also oriented on thrills for older family members... EP haven´t done anything thrilling for a while and I´m just worried they won´t do that in upcoming years, but we will see. No way saying this is a bad park, because it´s probably the best one in the world. Just saying what I would like to see from them in the future.
  20. I´m not saying it was indicated, just what I was hoping for, that´s difference. I´m not even calling for coaster, just a thrill ride. These four years, EP did nothing related to thrill attractions iirc. Drop-tower would have been appreciated
  21. I also expected B&M or something else, just thrilling. I understand this is mainly family-oriented park, but it looks like they gave up on coasters and trhill attractions completely, which is dissapoiting for me, as I´m thrill-seeker.
  22. Thanks guys for tips. I wanted to visit this park for a while already and finally got there. I wasn´t dissapointed and had a great time. Planned to do a trip report, but sadly, my camera died right after arrival . So maybe next year, plan to come back and make a trip for Black pool and Alton Towers as well.
  23. Thanks guys for tips. Got my fasttrack and accomodation close the the park. What´s the better way of transport around London BTW? Should I go with UBER or use public transport? We are going to arrive to Gatwick in the evening, so not sure whatever it is good to go via public transport....
