  1. lol. I have wanted, on so many occasions, so apply there to be in operations in some form. I just think that someone needs to be on the teams at all times watching them. If there isn't a reward system... maybe punishment for not performing well lol. If you can't beat them, join them. I wasn't rewarded for moving fast at SFMM, but we still did. It's funny. I made double working for AT&T and did so much less work there, yet still hustled.... I think because we got in trouble if we didn't. At the time I worked there, it was back in '09, and we weren't utilizing trackers yet. I don't even remember doing competitions. So I know for sure you can have great operations without additional tools. I am glad to hear you are a hard worker =] makes me feel a little better that not every employee is a snail lol
  2. I have never even seen 'brisk' work being done. Even people I go with that aren't enthusiasts ask me, "why are they going so slowly?" I never see them chatting or fooling around... I literally just seem them not caring and moving at a glacial pace. I will film it for you next time. I used to work in operations for SFMM on X2 and literally never had an accident.... but we hustled... even on days where it was 100 + we were working our butts off to make sure we were getting people on and out as quickly as possible. Being safe doesn't mean moving painfully slow with a look and an attitude that you don't care. If they were smiling and having a good time and moving quickly that would look better, IMO, than moving sluggishly and looking miserable. I literally am going to film for you next time I am in line. That way you don't need to take my word for it. They need immense improvements.
  3. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see RMC put in one of their T-Rex track coasters. As far as operations at Kennywood.... They are terrible. I have NEVER been to that park where the ride ops were doing a good job. Never. It literally infuriates me every time to the point that I don't make attempts to visit really anymore but maybe once or twice a season... and only because I was invited. It just shocks me that supervisors there just don't care... at all. Even a little hustle from the employees would make a difference.
  4. Waiting is the hardest part. I only have two Yellow Tail Chromis in my 60 Gallon SW tank right now and I am still in the early stages of cycling my nano upstairs. been running for a couple weeks yet and still haven't had any spikes yet lol.
  5. I finally got multiple trains running on one of my coasters in my park. Good thing too... this queue tho... lol (I apologize for the poor quality. I had taken this picture with my phone to show someone lol) This coaster is running four cars with two typically out on the course at once.
  6. So I will be home in January and will be bringing my partner with me to come visit. I'm taking him to Disneyland as well as SFMM. I was just curious what the crowds are like the last weekend of January? I still have yet to ride Full Throttle and Twisted Colossus. Definitely looking forward to having this experience together for sure.
  7. Not a big deal. Just seeing if there was a reason or whatever. Not a big deal and I appreciate the replies.
  8. So for the last month or two, it is showing that I have 1 new message in my PMs. However, when I click on it, I don't have any new messages. I was just curious if there was a fix for this? If it's something I need to do, just tell me how and I am happy to do it. Thanks!
  9. So I did some searching through the threads here and couldn't find anything... which means it needs to exist lol. I did find some talk about this, but no dedicated thread so I figured I would get one started! I am fairly new to the hobby. I got into it in March. My first tank is my 60 Gallon. Everything they tell you when you are first starting out about: be patient, don't rush things, don't add too many things to the tank at once, etc. It is all true. I started my tank, tested the water constantly, and waited for the cycle. I was using a product that helped the tank cycle as well as adding in a raw shrimp to get the cycle started. Testing the water for a couple weeks and finally had results in the tests that indicated that the cycle had completed. I started to add fish. One at a time. I got a couple from online and a couple from some local places. In Pittsburgh we are lucky to have at least 4 stores that are pretty well dedicated to SW fish and are employed, obviously, by other hobbyists. **If you would just like to share and skip over my long winded story, I marked below where to pick up lol. I figured that I could save those of you who aren’t all that interested some time lol.** I am going to make a long story short here. I was running a pretty successful tank for a good month or so, and one of my fish ended up with Ich... and it was REALLY bad. I had coral in the tank at the time, but I decided that the lives of the fish were worth more than the corals. So I dosed the tank with a product to help eradicate the parasite. I now know that it is always present in SW aquariums regardless but I wanted to save them and didn’t have a quarantine option. Ich is another topic/conversation in and of itself. Anyways, So I dosed the tank really early morning. My dad and his girlfriend were in town visiting us and we were taking them to Cedar Point that day. I had dosed the tank once before, but it states to only dose the tank once every 24 hours. Anyways, So dosed the tank in the am, then off to CP. When we got home that night, had been about 12 hours, friend decided it was a good idea to dose the tank again. I said to him, “it says to only dose once every 24 hours and no more. The corals are already going to die. If you really think it’s a good idea though, you can do what you think is right.” So he did. Keep in mind, he has been helping me with this from the beginning, doing research of his own as well as along side of me, and really getting and understanding the same information that I was. The next morning when we woke up, we came downstairs. Everything had died. Two clown fish, a coral beauty, a cleaner shrimp, two snails, a diamond goby, and 3 Emerald Crabs. It was absolutely devastating to me. I waited a little while before trying anything else. I ended up getting another clown fish a couple weeks later to try to keep the bacteria in the tank alive so I wouldn’t have to cycle it again. I tried a couple other fish with it, and lost them just as quickly as I added them. With the clown fish still doing ok, eating, and acting just fine, I decided… I really need to do this right. I’m going to take everything living out of the tank, quarantine the clown(there are a lot of people that believe you should always quarantine your fish for at least a month until introducing them into your main tank. Other people think that it is actually ok to add the fish directly to your tank). I knew what my mistakes were and I was determined to make things right. The tank kept its appropriate levers for pH, Ammonia, Nitrite, and Nitrate. My goal was to quarantine for 3 weeks(the lifespan of the Ich parasite), and then bring the clown fish back into the main tank. On day 20 out of 21; the clown died. At this point I was done. Drained the tank, posted it on CL to sell it and everything I owned. I was dead set on being done until recently. I drive for Uber and was actually taking a break near a really cool fish store in our area. It is called Wet Pets and Friends for anyone in the Western PA area. I don’t know if I should have stopped in or not, but it reignited the spark for me. Today, My tank is up and running, and it has been for a little while now. My vow at this point is to ONLY do what I am told to do. I have a really awesome place down the street from my house, and the lady I work with has been doing SW tanks successfully for, I believe she told me, seventeen years. Needless to say, I trust what she is telling me. At this point I have only one fish in there that I added today. A little Yellow tail Damsel (pictured below). I did decide that I also wanted to have a Nano-Tank in my room. So I have a little Fluval Evo 12 doing a fish-less cycle. I have the temp right and the salinity right in it, so I am getting ready as we speak to aquascape and get the rock in there. I am literally starting this tank with all fresh stuff. I have an RODI filter so I mixed brand new salt water, added brand new live sand, and i ordered brand new dry rock. I really wanted this thing to start from the very beginning. As soon as the rock goes in tonight I will be adding the Nitrifying bacteria. **HERE** So anyways, I just wanted to get a thread started for anyone else who might be in this hobby so we had a little piece of TPR to come and chat about our tanks; both Fresh and Salt. I am definitely hopeful that there is at least one other person on here that is into this as well lol. Share pictures and tell us how and why you got started. What have your successes been? Downfalls along the way? Really interested to hear your experiences! Regardless of however many other forums are out there, I figured we could also use this thread to help each other out as things maybe come up. Who knows, maybe we can even inspire others to get into the hobby. I got started in SW on a budget. I know you can be successful whether you have thousands to spend or if you have to save up for a couple months. It is a really fun and rewarding hobby.
  10. Philrad, I will probably private message you on friday to see if you are around lol. That sounds awesome!
  11. ^^ lol!^^ I really appreciate that. We do have platinum passes so I think we are going to try to take advantage of that.
  12. I am loving everything. This is not a complaint at all, I am just curious when we might start seeing multi-train operations and maybe dual stations even.
  13. ^^ The post RMC made about getting their bid with Cedar Fair wasn't enough? Lol They were even at CP in their picture they took for their post.
  14. This looks ok. I've never done a trap door slide so I might have to check it out for that reason, however, riding skyscraper was one of my favorite things to do when I'd visit the park. We'd go have lunch at Fridays, get tipsy, then ride Skyscraper. It was our ritual lol. I was sad to see it go.
  15. So, my partner and I were just having a discussion recently. We just had our first visit to King's Dominion(which was a fun trip), but we live close to CP and visit often. We have platinum passes and enjoy hitting the park for early entry. Between CP early entry and the early entry over at KD, I have not ever once attended an early entry day where everything operated. I get the point of Early Entry. It's an awesome perk for hotel guests and pass holders, but it's hard to see the value in it as an up sell when all the advertised attractions either aren't opening for early entry or the are down. Now, I am sure that most of the time everything is just fine; but it's a pretty interesting coincidence that for the amount of times we make the early entry, and the one time we visit KD, the rides aren't available. I definitely think that on days where, say, a ride that is supposed to open for early entry but is having issues from the start of testing, make another attraction available. Easier said than done, better on paper I'm sure, but not a bad idea IMO. Just thought I would put my two cents in on ride breakdowns. That is the only time it has every bothered me. Other than that, it's pretty typical to see rides break down periodically.
  16. So I need some assistance guys. No matter how hard I try, how much time I spend, or how closely I look... I can NOT for the life of me get my coasters smoothed out! I use the smooth tool, but I just can't get it. What am I doing wrong? lol What's the trick? I see other people have really nice smooth coasters. How are people achieving this!? Thanks
  17. This looks insane. Unfortunately the older I get the less tolerable I am to rides like this. I typically avoid spinning rides now days lol
  18. This really bums me out. I don't understand why they don't at least stay open to the idea of selling it to someone who wants to keep it open.
  19. ^ man... It's almost hard to picture people being disappointed by an RMC mean streak makeover. I know it'll happen... It's just hard to picture lol.
  20. Disagree. Mean Streak does lend itself to that. Mean Streak's overall layout is similar to the Texas Giant, which was the first RMC transformation. I agree. My point was that Cedar Point tends to build record breaking roller coasters. If they want to break the World Record for tallest woodie they would have to build a drop that is taller than 197 feet (218 feet if they wanted to top Son of Beast). That would be a 36-57 foot first drop increase. Not saying it can't be done, just saying it is not practical. Based on the location of the track that goes under the drop, they would have to increase the height somehow so the drop will clear the below track, or make some kind of double down drop. Just my opinion from when I was looking at the layout.
