Not going to lie here, but as massive as Goliath is, in the back row even with a little wiggle room (not being insanely stapled) there was a single moment of floater airtime...Diet Coke vs the full on Coke if you want to say. Goliath is quite forceful though after the 2nd half. You're referring to SFMM's Goliath, right?

2014 TPR Tour Questionnaire is out!
Angry_Gumball replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I still need to submit my response , but would go with the "somewhat interested" option for WCT and mini hotness. I definitely could not do both but would love to at least do one of these. -
My plan of attack for the SFMM day, though I have all of my SFMM credits (excluding Full Throttle) is to hit up the low capacity stuff...like Green Lantern immediately after ERT, then pretty much work counter-clockwise around the park. With SEFK set up for evening ERT, that's 1 less lower capacity attraction to worry about during the normal operating hours. I'm figuring this: most of the crowds will be hitting the closest coasters at the front of the park while the back of the park should be pretty relaxed for a short moment. Eventually the crowds will be everywhere. When I went to SFMM on a Sunday back in April, it was the tail end of spring break for most schools in SoCal. It seemed a bit busy for a Sunday but now thinking about it, I'm guessing that many were wanting to get their last bit of fun out before Spring Break ended. In the end, this is all like predicting the weather. Something I noticed in high 90's temp when at CGA, most of the general park crowds were pretty dead. There were tons of people at the park but they all flocked to the water rides and the water park. I'm only predicting a similar scenario with Hurricane Harbor being next door. But I don't know SFMM well enough to know its crowd patterns like I know CGA. I am glad that the 'big ones' (as in the ones I'm primarily after) are included in ERT. I'm less worried about the B&M's (Scream and Batman) when it comes to crowds as they can tend to be people eaters. I found stand up coasters to be a tad slower at loading due to the seating setup.

Superman Ultimate Flight...I've seen a phone fly out as the train went skyward on my last visit, much like what happened in the TPR video. As far as objects falling out on rides, secure cargo pockets are the way to go. With those, you can guarantee your goods will stay with you in the craziest hang time moments.

The "Say Something Random" Thread
Angry_Gumball replied to robbalvey's topic in Random, Random, Random
I think I'm planning too far ahead but with work and all this week, I've been spending the day figuring what to pack up and take along for West Coast Bash this weekend while keeping luggage to a minimum. Yes, I'm feeling anxious for this weekend's events! -
^That video was pretty neat! I had actually never seen any behind the scenes auditions for Haunt and some of those actors (especially the females) were pretty convincing! A discussion about Wind Seeker's removal yesterday while at CGA...the nerdy discussions we have waiting in line for Gold Striker... We thought it would be neat to see a Gerstlauer Sky Roller or Sky Fly. But we are suckers for rider-controlled flat rides anyway.

SFMM goers... Question for you. I saw on a Facebook page I recently started following (page creators are SFMM goers) about X2's closure and a fancy sign they went and printed out for it. I had asked about Pocky/Apocalypse and they mentioned that it's running again but with a single train (and fire working too!). Has anyone been to the park lately and able to confirm this? I found it a bit humorous that they felt like X2 could open next weekend...nope not happening

Crossing my fingers it opens soon. I'm going to be generous and give it some time, planning on hitting up the 'Walk sometime soon (after WCB of course)...Not only do I want to ride Undertow and Giant Dipper, but there's a certain flat ride that I want to hit up before the 'Walk goes into limited op mode...this flat ride lives indoors and is set up to a fancy light package and techno music...that is, Wipeout!

Yup, I've gotten adverts for food products when entering the lots at SFDK... I usually forget the coupons by the time we're parked and entering the gate. Still though, it leaves a weird first impression...not to mention the string of billboards with advertisements as you pull up to the plaza. I rode Scream for the first and only time back in April and honestly that whole corner of the park felt like it was the forgotten area, almost felt like the back alley. And the fact that Scream's fadedness is present adds to it. Speaking of scream...I was using a polarizer on my camera and honestly it made the ride look that much more faded when the sky's blue deepened. Here's a few shots I got of the coaster back in April (in which I still have yet to write up my trip report from the said visit). Faded track and polarizer don't mix too well. "Back Alley" exit Shooting in RAW and pumping up the color still can't save the ride's appearance. I've actually never been a huge fan of its color scheme to begin with.

Funniest Ride Experiences
Angry_Gumball replied to Coasters 4 ever's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Let's make post 6000 about something that happened last weekend at CGA. We had crammed 5 of us (Max capacity, clench 'n squish) on their log flume and at the end of the ride when approaching the turntable, our log stopped and didn't engage the table. Another log comes down and eventually nudges us. Of course we didn't go anywhere and actually drifted backwards with the log behind us. The next log came and nudged both of us...but nope, still didn't go anywhere. The ride operator then tried pulling our log to get it to catch. Somehow, finally our log moved forward and engaged the turntable. Was pretty hilarious! -
Taking a break from Mario & Luigi Dream Team, I went back a few years and decided to play through Pokemon Platinum, started with Chimchar (Fire/Fighting type ape Pokemon)...why did I do that anyway? That first gym was a bit rough...much like starting off with Charmander on Pokemon Red/Blue/Green as the first 2 gyms have advantages over you...and finding something strong en route to both gyms is going to be tough...and lots of level grinding to be done. 2nd gym was a breeze as I had 2 monsters with advantages over the second gym. Yes I still like playing the Pokemon games (seriously, there's a lot of depth to this game that makes me think it's just as hardcore as it is kid-friendly) and I'm actually anxious for X and Y to come out.

I guarantee, once you ride Gold Striker, your mind will be pretty much saying "What's Grizzly? Why do they still have it?" Yes I know it can be seen as a "family" coaster but it isn't due to the height requirement...being same as Gold Striker. Due to it having a somewhat demanding requirement defeats the purpose of having such a tame ride in my opinion. Had it had a height requirment similar to Psycho or even Woodstock, it would be another story.

Funny conversation I had with a guest behind me last weekend while in line for Gold Striker...It was their first time riding it and one had just got off Grizzly. She asks (because it's wood) if the ride's anything like Grizzly. When I told her that it's far crazier than Grizzly, suddenly she got really worried/nervous...and was ready to bail on her friend. We all (including her friend) convinced her into trying it at least once. When they pulled into the station (were on the train ahead of us, they filled 2 of the empty seats), the anxious one didn't look like it would be something she'd do again as it freaked her out Her friend that was convincing her considered Grizzly as a "Baby Ride" and that she should graduate onto the better ones.
