[RCT3] SFDK Recreation
Angry_Gumball replied to Angry_Gumball's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Greetings...I'm using this old thread since I'm re-attempting this Bay Area park. It is coming along nicely and now that Zonga no longer stands there and neither does Pandemonium, I felt this might be easier...not to mention Google Maps combined with street view inside the park making this far more easier...Honestly I did not think I was actually going to start the whole-on project, was just messing with making a RCT rendition of S:UF...followed by making station, supports, surrounding area....and so it began! I began it yesterday (12/18/12) and have made some good progress with the few hours I spent on it so far. Enjoy! Starting off with the entrance of the park, V2, and Roar. Another angle of the entrance plaza, with the coaster that started this recreation, Superman! V2...I do have the CTR for the Intamin impulse but can't get it to actually show up (yet). Anyone know how to install it/get it working? Superman: Ultimate Flight! Another angle of S:UF Overview of what my park currently looks like. More Superman... Inside the station... Oasis Plaza is starting to rise...no Medusa yet. May get a CFR to include Sky Screamer. Inside entrance area, Kingdom Market ... And I'll end it with every bay area person's favorite Vekoma coaster! -
Agreed, row 1 does happen to have that nice skyward launch. You still get air coming back down but it's a little easier on the body, comfort-wise, and you aren't slammed quite as hard into the seat. About Superman, I forgot to mention that initially I thought the shin pads would feel very restricting, annoying, and uncomfortable but in the end they are quite soft and not that bad. I'm really wanting to ride it again! (See what our SFDK trip started?)

So yesterday was a great day out at SFDK, definitely one of my more solid visits and probably the most uncrowded SFDK I've ever seen! Scooterdoug, Double0Kevin, RawkinCoaster38, Robman, JeffyJosephNorcal, Cal1br3tto, my cousin and myself met up for a great time at the park. While waiting for Kevin, Jeff, Rob, and Cal1br3tto, we decided to take in the first ride on Superman...or first several rides I should say. The line was nonexistent, maybe waited 1 train load. This was my first time riding it (yay new credit!) and it blew me away! I first tried it out in the front when I noticed the "S" plate missing. This created a nice, unobstructed view and before we knew it, we were dispatched! Initial launch was mild but after passing back through the station for the second time and heading skyward, I felt the most graceful moment of airtime, ever. Passing through the barrel roll was a bit freaky but amazing at the same time. But wait...I was not expecting the drop into the non inverting loop to do much but I was airborne the entire trip down to the base of the non inverting loop. One last bit of floater air coming over the top before coming to rest. Unfortunately my 10th ride delivered an unpleasant experience in row 3...I decided to look upward during the backward launch, thus kinking my neck during that forceful section. Neck is fine now but it was sore last night. Amazed, I had to try it in the back where the ride felt like a completely different experience, with a little more 'violent' airtime, lasting a bit longer. I noticed the positives were quite forceful too on the reverse launch, and at the bottom of the non inverting loop...so pretty much you're going from being pulled upward to slamming downward rather quickly. If not paying attention it will catch you off guard! Off Ride POV, holiday-style After we all met up, we hit up Roar (which felt like it was dragging along) and V2 (which felt rather...weird and tame despite the more forceful initial launch). After getting my stuff out of the lockers (ugh...well can't complain, I did get a complimentary ticket, thanks to Scooterdoug!) we headed over to Medusa plaza where I got my first star flyer credit as it was running this time. That can definitely use more height because at the top I felt like we were only half way up the tower...but nope, that was the max height. Very frigid up there. Relaxing, mellow, and cold. Next was Medusa which again felt weird and rather tame...Spoiled by Superman perhaps? After that we headed to Kong for a not so bad of a ride! Honestly I can see why people say this is the better of the standard SLC coasters. Only annoyance is the close-to-the-ears padding. Back over to Superman for ride #7 and off to claim our goods from the other locker and check out the flats, dolphin show, and back over to Superman for 3 more rides, a night ride on Roar, and finish the night off on Medusa (4 ride marathon). Had a great time, glad to meet 3 (well 4...Gold Porn? You know who you are ) TPR members. And of course we had to finish the night with dinner and conversation of primarily coasters. Arrived at destination...but first need lunch I see you peeking out of the trees! View from Carl's Jr...yes I had to get a panoramic of SFDK from the street. And finally, at the moment I've been waiting for since July! Swooooosh! Peppy: Do a barrel roll! (Press Z or R twice) Just moments before being slammed back into your seat from being nearly yanked out from it. All clear, dispatch! V2.5 Roar/GCI porn Roar and V2 Over to Medusa Plaza Sky Screamer's queue offers nice views of Medusa. Rob taking his instagram zero g roll photo Did I say how jam packed it was today? In the mean time, I develop another craving for Superman before we all cave into Kevin and my decision of heading back to S:UF. Nerd Shot In case you forgot what we were riding (and finally put my Sky Screamer pin to use) See you in a bit Medusa Plaza, we got a Premier Launcher to ride again! Being a skill toy enthusiast, this caught my attention...sadly, these toys aren't so popular these days...And yes I still play with these! Hello S:UF! (Ride #7, commence!) And now off to head up the hill for some flat ride fun! Taz "Oooh, let's do Monkey Business!" More fun than a barrel of monkeys! Ready to get this thing spinning! (very tiring on the arms) Thrilla Gorilla, such a fun ride! Time for dolphin show as the rain decides to pick up the pace. Dolphin Airtime? TPR Musical...where we spontaneously break out in song, singing about that new 500 foot inverted 4d wooden intamin aquatrax tera-coaster! Airtime seemed to be the big trend during the day. Back over to Roar plaza for our last 3 rides on Superman. And a final 4 rides on Medusa, a mini ERT-like session. And Sky Screamer appears to have gotten stuck. Yup, not running anymore tonight. Good night SFDK, see you sometime soon! And finally...as mentioned, our dinner table was definitely quite the nerdiest Go-Box artwork was a must.

I'll probably get mine up tomorrow, definitely some fun antics I just wish I shot more photos but got kind of lazy...could have just left the DSLR at home and relied on my phone since I used that for most of the photos. Definitely had a blast hanging out with everyone...and dinner never felt as nerdy as tonight Let's just say, Superman is amazing! I've never had so much airtime on a coaster before, followed by suddenly forced hard into the seat. There, I got that off my chest.

Actually, this past year when one of those events happened, most seemed nonexistent...most evidence of the event going on was the scent of burritos and carne asada being cooked up. From what I remember last year on the TPR bash on a summer Saturday, there was some event going on but the crowds were still tolerable. I think we should be ok...hopefully many think it's 'too cold' to go out or have xmas shopping to do Totally ready for today, hope it won't be too bad in terms of crowds..want to get plenty of rides in on Superman!

What is your next park?
Angry_Gumball replied to onewheeled999's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
SFDK as well tomorrow (Can't wait! Too bad you couldn't make it down this way Joey...) followed by CGA/GWW in a couple weeks (after Xmas/before the new year). -
Again, I'm excited for this! Before adding all the bells and whistles to it (peeps, spending money, mechanics...) I primarily want to see how far we can take our creativity with this software. Seeing the particle effects demo, it makes me wonder if there will also be fog emitters, for those who may want to create a 'creepy' feel to their park. Seeing the smoke from the fire made me think of fog/gave me hope for fog. The fountains looked good and falling water looked pretty realistic! Only strange thing is seeing how it looks 'striped' down towards the base of the fountain. Otherwise, looking great! Jumping coasters? Fun idea, definitely not realistic but enough to draw some GP into it without straying too far. It takes me back when I was younger and used to doodle coasters (in a very GP-like manner) that involved jumps. One question I did have, by the looks of the blank map, are there going to be 'pre-chosen' spots where we can place a station and are the paths fixed (as in can't reposition them, remove them, etc)? It made me wonder when I saw several cement pads in which one of them was occupied for the coaster. I did like however seeing that you can in fact rotate your coaster after it's been made! Should make creating our dream parks or recreations (assuming the software will allow us to go that far) much easier to handle...always dreaded spending X hours on getting a certain plaza/coaster all set up only to find that it's in too close, needs to go out further.

I'm now curious about this snow hill they have set up, perhaps there may be insane moments, comparable to the first weekend we did at CGA's Winter Wonderland's super potato sack slide of death The rain has arrived here but it's supposed to be overnight from what I hear. But it's too late, plans are made! Maybe crowds will be minimal tomorrow, meaning more Superman rides!

Is this a requirement? I'm not sure I have a coaster related t-shirt or a camera... AHAHAHA.. Who am I kidding, 90% of my wardrobe is coaster stuff. Wow, I need a life. Now I don't feel bad My wardrobe consists of CGA/Haunt stuff, along with some video game shirts I would bring my DSLR but I kind of want to avoid any locker use...may just resort to using my iPhone since my pockets are going to be full anyway (Wallet + iPhone + portable charger after taking photos = bulging pockets!). Bright yellow? Closest I have is my yellow Firefall "First Rider" T-shirt we got at last year's CGA TPR event. I will most likely however be in a Santa Cruz Giant Dipper hoodie and a TPR t-shirt. Same, can deal with those odds as well. KTVU originally showed AM showers but just changed it to 'chance.' Judging from all these forecasts, the rain will be a hit and a miss. Just like when I did CGA's opening day last season there was a chance of showers...and it did rain, just not inside the park...was like we had some kind of bubble over the park/in the park's vicinity as everywhere else was getting dumped on by wetness. It was cold though, cold enough for snow to be on the hills in the distance

You could technically visit CGA but wouldn't get the full potential out from the park since it's in a real limited op mode (Only 6 of their rides, plus a handful of carnie rides) with the Global Winter Wonderland event we've been attending the past month. That closes after the new year and CGA won't be back up and running until the end of March. I have a feeling that Star Tower's line will be more or less the same minus all the landscaping, but instead surrounded by wood and concrete pad. The actual 'switchback' area of Star Tower's remained untouched among all the leveled dirt, concrete, and construction. Back in the day when we lived off of the proposed rendering of Gold Striker, it showed the queue wrapping around the Midway Turn (Out by Celebration Swings) before making way up to the station. Could be different now though, we shall see as this project continues to unwrap!

So, just a thought, any of you think we should make a 'confirmed' list of who's coming Sunday, that way we all have an idea of who we are still waiting for and such? I know for sure my cousin (who really needs to reset her password here since she forgot it) Rawkin, and myself are confirmed. Weather update, still looking good, seeing the percentages drop, one source says it will just be overcast. Looking forward to meeting new faces and seeing familiar faces this Sunday!

On the subject of puke, perhaps there could be a 'Gold Edition' of TPS that includes computer controlled puke-scented air fresheners. When one pukes, a signal is sent to the device to fire off that hotdog-scented vomit or sweet funnel cake vomit via aerosol can And can't forget to add sprayers that squirt you when the virtual peep up-chucks next to you or when one spits in the loopty loop Could be the world's first PC game with a 4D experience!
