  1. Nice to see Knott's showing Monte some love and hopefully this will keep it around for many years to come. Monte was first upside-down coaster and it was all my kids' first as well. I wonder if they are going to do anything to the flywheel launch? I'd hate to see it go as I'm pretty sure it's the last one left in North America.
  2. An indoor coaster makes a lot of sense for BGW, especially if they are going to operate year-round. Looks like a fun little coaster and a great use of the available space.
  3. I think you're right, the park's engineers have a lot more tools available to them now than when the ride was built. I think these changes are more to improve structural stability and alleviate stress points.
  4. I couldn't agree more, Knott's has just gotten more and more popular over the years, which has led to increasingly long lines. The only "people-eater" they really have is Silver Bullet, so another high capacity ride would be a huge boon to the park. Knott's is CF's highest revenue park, so it makes sense for an investment of this magnitude. I think CF also sees an opportunity to grab former Disney passholders who have become disillusioned by Disney's new policies.
  5. Agreed, just use the fast pass money on a hotel near Knotts and make it a two day trip. Parks should be pretty dead in mid-January, so two full days should guarantee you getting on everything.
  6. Great news that the Beast is getting some off-season love. The retracking did wonders for the Racer, so I'm excited to see how the Beast turns out.
  7. Haha, yes, I was kidding, sorry if that didn’t come through in my post. But I still think your time is better spent at Knotts than going to SW for just one ride.
  8. According to Is It Packed, both days will be alright. But personally, I think Chirstmas Day will be the less busy of the two.
  9. I would say no if you're just going to ride Manta. Spend the time at Knotts instead as the park will be dead and you'll be able to walk on everything.
  10. The 5-7 day Carnival cruises are actually pretty fun. You are usually on the better boats and it's mostly families. It's the 3-4 day booze cruises on Carnival that you want to avoid.
  11. I feel bad for the painters that got ill, but overall this works out much better for the park. It was a bad idea to have one of the most popular coasters in the park closed for the holiday season, so at least now Tatsu will be open thru the end of the year. I am glad they are showing it some love with the new paint job, but moving it to January makes so much more sense.
  12. Totally agree, it’s been running incredible since the re-track. Without the mid-course brake, it’s absolutely ridiculous from beginning to end.
  13. It certainly could be, looks like that was the only kiddie coaster in the late 70s and early 80s.
  14. I'm pretty sure there used to be a mini-colossus kiddie coaster at the park. I seem to remember riding one when I was a kid in the early 80's, but I don't see it anywhere on RCDB.
  15. I would get there at least 30 minutes before opening as Knotts opens the gates early most days. Once they're in the park, tell them to take an immediate left and head straight for GhostRider, it's the most popular ride in the park and gets the longest lines. Then I would head to the back of the park and knock out the boardwalk rides (Xcelerator, Hangtime, Berry Tales, etc). Xcelerator might still be down for painting, so warn them that is might be closed. Next up should be the log ride before it gets too crowded. After that, the ride order doesn't really matter.
  16. That red looks amazing, so much better than the faded pink!
  17. Exactly, if Cedar Fair wants to put a Giga in their highest revenue park, they will find a way to do it. Personally, I love the look of Silver Bullet looming over the entrance of the park. CF had done a great job over the last 20 years of keeping up the Knotts charm and nostalgia while adding rides to stay competitive in a tough market. I think a Giga would be a great addition to the park and would really round out the coaster collection.
  18. Xcelerator was running both trains during the day and during Scary Farm the last few weeks. It's not listed on the ride closures, so they maybe they are painting it after hours? If they do close it for painting, now is a good time to get it done before Merry Farm starts up.
  19. Prices look to be in line with the old Gold Plus season passes, for $80 you get parking and admission to all of the Six Flags Parks. It looks like the only pass or membership that doesn't include all parks is the basic $60 season pass.
  20. And to be honest, I doubt the GP knows the difference between a SLC and a B&M invert. Looking forward to visiting this park once it's up and running.
  21. The Knox County school district's last day is May 25th, so you will probably have a uptick in locals that week but overall it shouldn't be too bad. There's a lot of school districts that don't let out until June, so I wouldn't expect the park to be very busy that week.
  22. I think WW will be a great addition to the park and gives SFMM a much needed airtime machine. I would've rather they combined the money for WCR/WW and given us a Giga instead, but it's hard to complain about the park getting a 2nd RMC coaster. I've ridden the WW raptor at SFFT and absolutely loved it, so I'm interested to see how the longer model compares.
  23. How did they do the Vax check? Is a picture of your card on your phone enough or do they need to see the actual vax card?
  24. Yes, if you want to get multiple rides on the coasters and Mystic River Falls, I would definitely recommend their fast pass. As for food, the skillets offered at various locations are very good. The BBQ place next to Mystic River Falls is cafeteria style, but it has lots of seating and the food is also good. Plus it's right across from the cinnamon bread place!
  25. I was pretty disappointed with the rides ops when we went this summer. Every coaster except FITH and Time Traveler was running one train, which is inexcusable in the middle of summer. On top of that, Mystic Falls didn't open the entire day we were there. It's really too bad bc it's a great park and has some really fun rides, but I'm not planning on going back anytime soon.
