When I visited SFGAm last summer, I got a Platinum FP and I was allowed 2 reservations on JL. (It was the only ride in the whole park that had a reservation limit.) Given SFMM's track record with new rides, I would expect some kind of FP limitation for JL. In fact, I would bet that JL reservations would be limited to Platinum FPs for the first year like they did with Yolo and TC.

Knott's has posted all of the Boysenberry Festival food options on their website and there are a bunch of new offerings for 2017. They have also changed up the $25 tasting card and added a few of the new items. I'm really glad that they extended the festival to 3 weeks long, so I'll be able to hit it at least twice this year. If you've never been during the Boysenberry Festival, then you should definitely check it out!

My vote is for "Raging Boner Mobile" so people will have to say they can't wait to ride a Raging Boner at SDC -

Agreed, if Wave Breaker is half as fun as Cheetah Hunt, SWSA will have a huge hit on their hands! -
You have to put everything in a fluffy, fluffy bunny filled with medicine and goo on the roller coasters...it sucks... There will be fluffy, fluffy bunnies filled with medicine and goo near the entrance to the rides, but it's usually a clusterf---, especially by dragon challenge. That's what I was afraid of...are they free? I doubt it Yes, the 1ockers are free for a certain period of time, which gets adjusted for the wait time of the rides. But they are very strict with the metal detectors on the coasters, you can't even have change in your pockets. So just put everything in the 1ocker so you don't get denied at the metal detector.

Six Flags St. Louis (SFStL) Discussion Thread
VegasBaby replied to Homer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Just to be clear, MiA in no way makes as much profit as CP. In the last annual report I looked at, CF had approximately $108 million of EBITDA (profit) and $27 million of that came from CP. MiA had just over $2 million in profit, or less than 1/10 of the profit generated by CP. I don't know if SF breaks down profit by park like CF does as it would be interesting to see the actual numbers. But don't fool yourself and think that MiA is even close to CP in profit generation. -
Another factor to consider is that the companies that built Goliath and X2 are no longer in business. So when those lift chains broke, they had to find someone who could custom manufacture replacements and this resulted in extended down times. It's a completely difference scenario than if a lift chain went down on Batman or Green Lantern. On my last visit to CP, TTD and Maverick both broke down multiple times each day. However, I don't see people complaining about how terrible CP's maintenance staff are or how cheap the park is.

Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
VegasBaby replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This was my experience as well. We went for 3 days in late June 2015 and the longest lines were 45 min for Laff Track and 30 min for Fahrenheit. We stayed at the Hershey Lodge, so we got the 1 hour early entry each morning. There's only 3 coasters open during early entry (Comet, SDL, and Skyrush), but it's basically like an ERT session. We were able to get multiple rides on each during the early entry, most of the time without getting off the coasters. I also found that the park really thinned out around 8pm, which was nice since it was open to 10pm every night. Everyone gets a preview night, which gets you into the park 2.5 hours before close with a next day ticket. I would definitely take advantage of the preview night and the early entry if you can. I got about 4-5 rides each on Skyrush, Fahrenheit, and Storm Runner when I did the preview night. -
Exactly, if they give it the same treatment as Ninja/Blue Hawk at SFOG (new trains with soft restraints), I bet it would get a lot more ridership. The main complaint I hear from people is head-banging, so the new trains would do away with that. I actually still enjoy Viper and ride it every time I visit. I have a lot of fond memories riding it from my childhood as Viper was THE coaster at the park (at least until Batman opened in 1994). Of course I would love to see it replaced with a Giga or a dive machine, but I'm on board with a rehab if that doesn't happen.

Six Flags St. Louis (SFStL) Discussion Thread
VegasBaby replied to Homer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
SFStl is a well rounded park with some fun coasters, but it just doesn't have that signature ride. Every single one of the SF parks now has either a hyper or a RMC coaster, the lone exception is SFStl. (I don't consider Great Escape as a true Six Flags park.) I don't know why SFStl has gotten overlooked in the major coaster department. The troubling aspect is that SF has backed off of building major coasters in the past few years with the exception of the S&S Free Spins and RMC conversions. SF hasn't purchased a B&M since X-Flight in 2012 or an Intamin since Green Lantern in 2011. This trend doesn't bode well for SFStl getting a hyper coaster or even a RMC Boss for that matter. SFStl will continue to be a nice locals park but there's nothing really to pull in enthusiasts or the out of town crowd. -

Or a B&M hyper that uses the terrain, that would be my vote. But I could see a flyer or a dive machine since they already have an airtime coaster with LR. -
Adventuredome Discussion Thread
VegasBaby replied to gisco's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I really hope this is the case. Personally I would want something more thrilling, but for the Adventuredome market, a family coaster makes a lot of sense. I hadn't been to the Dome in years, but the opening of El Loco got me out there and now I've been 3-4 times in the last two years. If you go mid-week in the offseason, you pretty much have the whole place to yourself. -
Agreed, investment and competition between these two parks is a very good thing. CGA upping their game and following through with this plan should lead to SFDK making some big investments as well. NorCal has more than enough population base to support both of these parks, so it's going to be interesting to see how SFDK reacts if the CGA additions actually happen.

According to the Knott's website, Ghostrider is down thru Feb 3rd and the log ride is down thru Feb 10th. The park typically does its annual ride maintenance in Jan and Feb, so there is usually one or two major rides down at a time during those months. It will be worth going back for the renovated Ghostrider, it's fast, smooth, and relentless. Without a MCBR, you just blow throw the course.

I believe Superman you can only ride once per day as well. And it could be only with platinum. That is correct, you get one reservation on Superman & Revolution (Platinum only) and one on TC & Yolo (both Gold and Platinum). You can book a single ride on X2 for a $15 fee on Gold & Platinum. It's very frustrating to have these limits on the Flash Passes, especially when other SF parks don't do it. I can kind of understand the reasoning on Yolo and Superman, but there's no reason to limit FPs on high capacity rides like TC. When I visited SFGrAm last summer, the only FP limits were no double rides on Goliath (I still got 10 rides in with Platinum), and only 2 reservations on Justice League. I would hope to see less FP restrictions at SFMM in the future, but I'm not holding my breath. Also, the VR on Revolution needs to stop period. If they do continue it, it should only be during certain hours like SFGrAm was doing with Demon. It adds nothing to the ride and makes the line completely FUBAR.

And everyone complains about how Silver Bullet is an eyesore/doesn't belong where it does due to aesthetic reasons. So you want to add another coaster with the same, if not a bigger version of this problem? The only complaints I've ever heard about Silver Bullet's placement are on this forum. Not once I have ever heard someone complain about it at the park. Personally, I think it looks great looming over the front entrance like it does. The park already has several 200-300 foot attractions (Xcelerator, Sky Cabin, Supreme Scream), so adding another one wouldn't look out of place at all.

I've always heard rumors of a giga/hyper at Knotts, but I never knew they were actually in the planning stages. I think the aesthetic concerns are overblown, especially with the way Silver Bullet looms over the front end of the park. SB opened in 2004 and that is the last major thrill coaster built at the park. Since 2017 is a smaller expenditure year with Sol Spin and the slide towers, I would love to see a giga/hyper at Knott's in 2018. There are no B&M hypers in the western US and the park is sorely missing an airtime machine. I know some people will say there's no space, but I'm sure they could figure out a way to make it work.
