  1. They’ve always added something big every 10 years or so, sometimes with smaller investments in between. Unfortunately they’re a small park which means sometimes they have to subtract in order to add.
  2. Visitors can check the daily operations page for ride information. Hopefully that list will look a little better in the upcoming days & weeks. https://www.kennywood.com/dailyoperations
  3. Palace didn’t do the best job with the park from 08-18. But have since hired new Corp leadership and a new GM. Starting to see some positive improvements this year but it’ll take time.
  4. It’s expected to open this weekend.
  5. VIP tours are returning in June.
  6. Widow is waiting for repair but is expected to be ready in the upcoming weeks. Steel Curtain will likely be single train ops all season.
  7. Steel Curtain is expected to open this Friday (possibly with single train operations) if anyone is planning a trip.
  8. It wasn’t closed because of issues. It was a combination of COVID and improvements/modifications that they decided to do to the trains. It would have been open to the public this past weekend had it not been for unexpected weather.
  9. The only big coaster that was down this past weekend was Steel Curtain but that may have been weather related since there was rain/hail and low 40 degree temps. The VIP tours stand wasn’t open so I’m not sure if they’re planning to open it anytime soon. Perhaps after they have the park fully open after Memorial Day. You should also know that they are having their food & drink event during select days in June. So that’s likely going to boost attendance on those days.
  10. I don’t think so. As far as I know it was the first in North America but the 5th or 6th overall.
  11. 2018 was the last time that it operated with riders. It tested several times in 2019 while maintenance worked with Zamperla to troubleshoot but ultimately it wouldn't reach full height. Took over 6 months to get the custom gearbox which eventually arrived and was installed but also failed. Sat idle all through the limited 2020 season and was reportedly fixed after the park closed in September. Staff still working in the park at the time confirmed that it completed tested. It's expected to be ready for opening day this year.
  12. It rarely operated. Maybe 1-3 times a year average. The park started using shuttles in recent years. One less ride that they had to staff. Sent from my SM-F916U using Tapatalk
  13. No, just cleaning up years of neglect and bad decisions. Sent from my SM-F916U using Tapatalk
  14. Idlewild has plans for a new major attraction. I believe it is scheduled for 2022 but may be delayed due to covid. Sent from my SM-F916U using Tapatalk
  15. There's not been confirmation on what will become of those rides. I would think that the park will retain Kangaroo and Bayern Kurve due to their uniqueness. Maybe refurb them over time and unretire them at a later date. Paratrooper and Volcano were both fairly old and have had some reliability issues. I can understand wanting more reliable operations and not being nickel and dimed for non-warranty repairs. But you can still buy brand new versions from Huss and Beston if they really wanted to. 16. Depending on who checks the seat belt, just getting it to click isn't enough. They want you to pull on the loop and show it tighten at least 1". Sent from my SM-F916U using Tapatalk
  17. Rougarou is a decent ride. I’m just not a fan of that style of restraint. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Blue Streak, Corkscrew and Gemini are all testing now. Looks like they’re training ops. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. That was due to the engineering at that time. Loch Ness, Vortex, Steel Phantom, Anaconda, etc. They all had that Arrow quirkiness with flow, transitions, trains and restraints. By today's standards it's all antiquated technology and engineering.
  20. It's a decent ride as far as Arrow loopers go. Suffers from the same issues as others designed the same way. In my opinion the only thing it really needed was fresh trains and a paint job. But I only get to ride it 2 or 3x a year so more seasoned riders may disagree. My guess is it came down to not wanting to invest more into the ride. They can do a lot with the space.
  21. With college classes starting they have a harder time staffing everything. So that usually means staggered opening of rides and stands. I would expect all rides open except for Black Widow which is down for repair. Pittsburgh Plunge and Raging Rapids will depend on the weather.
  22. Sticking with my previous guess of an Intamin dueling coaster.
  23. Perhaps this could also be a dueling Intamin like the one that opened in China. I know folks want the Raptors but I'd argue that Intamins design would result in more riders per hour which is something that a busy park like SFGA would benefit from.
  24. I'm thinking more about the Two Face story. Complex duality could be his split personalities. Chance and fate are his obsession. The creature in the trees could be a bat. So perhaps a reference to batman. Perhaps dueling coasters. Batman vs. Two Face
  25. Since it's the #12 with confetti in the background couldn't it just be that many days until the announcement?
