  1. ^You mean Georgia Scorcher (GA Cyclone is the wooden Cyclone inspired coaster at Over Georgia), and Georgia Scorcher is probably the only fully enjoyable stand up I've ever been on out of... Scorcher, Vortex (Carowinds), Vortex (CGA), Mantis, Chang/Green Lantern, Apocalypse, and Shockwave (KD). I don't think Vortex at Carowinds is bad though.
  2. ^I hope the new opening date is announced as soon as they are sure it will be ready. I canceled my time off work this Friday for preview day, but now I want to take off next Thursday since Dolly will be there, but knowing Lightning Rod will be running would really make it worth the time off and 4 hour drive! *waits impatiently for word on the ride opening*
  3. ^That is an amazing recreation! Thanks for sharing. I haven't played since my old desktop crashed but this makes me want to get back at it (not that I have the time with the amount of customization I put into the game).
  4. I hope they confirm if the new opening day is Thursday, March 24th, the same day as Dolly's visit. I need to reschedule my time off work and if it will be open that day along with Dolly being there, I will definitely go! I just need confirmation on that new date.
  5. Park Journey reports that they spoke directly with Dale, Park President and that Dale confirmed that Vekoma is doing the track work on Ninja, Ninja will receive Vekoma brand vest restraints (no word on if it will be new trains or retrofitted onto the existing Arrow trains that came from SFGAdv but I would assume new trains). He also confirmed the color change and hinted that the name Ninja may change, but that's still being decided. Additionally, he recognized that next year is the 50th anniversary for the park and that big anniversaries mean but things and that "you" (referring to the Park Journey person) would be particularly pleased, so that hints at a new coaster.
  6. It is relocated (they didn't even repaint the roof on it which looks really worn down). WhistleStop Park looks like a wasteland now. Everything is still there including the entry sign with the signage itself ripped off. It honestly looks really bad but I am thinking that area will be next year's expansion (hopefully a coaster). Also, I spoke with Dale last season and he said Whistlestop Park was still around with just the playground because it was a necessary haven for parents with small children. Shortly after, the kid's areas were announced and now Whistlestop is gone. He said that area would not be developed until they no longer needed the playground there, and that there is a plan to utilize that space.
  7. I rode the Fiesta Express when it was still at Wild Adventures with a bunch of small children. It was so slow and parents were definitely giving me the look of disapproval.
  8. ^SFOG does not have a hiring issue. They can't even manage to interview everyone who wants to work there. They get overrun with applicants every January and February. Additionally, historically opening day was not ever busy and many opening days Goliath was a walk on. The park obviously hasn't expanded their maintenance staff but have cut the off season in half. There really isn't an excuse for their operations right now. At least the staff was super pleasant!
  9. Operations were awful and with the ride down times, a few rides not being open, and one train ops, the park was running at what felt like half capacity with a large summer Saturday type crowd. The employees were extremely friendly though. Dare Devil Dive VR just isn't going to work. Had they not stopped VR at 12:30, the line would've been about 6-8 hours based on my calculations. It's just impossible unless they get many more functioning VR sets and have an employee per rider to adjust their set. The ride experience was crazy though! So good! It just really needs headphones built into the strap that goes around your head. With full audio it would be completely immersive. The VR was still ridiculously awesome though and made the ride very intense!
  10. ^Ninja looks the same still however they are doing fairly extensive track work to the top of the third inversion. They have done some welding. It looks like they may be slightly altering the track in a way that isn't really visible but may smooth out the jolt in the peak of that inversion. They also may just be reinforcing it and not actually altering it. I'm not sure.
  11. ^I was just there but my phone died. I'll be heading back over in a few hours and should be able to take pictures. Bugs Bunny Boomtown looks good but the entrance area is just kind of a sea of pavement and they took basically every sign of vegetation out. The rides look great though! DC Super Friends is just a dirt lot still. No construction. Joker Funhouse Coaster is still 100% Canyon Blaster for the time being.
  12. At the park now. Here is an update. New restaurants are not open yet if anyone cares. Food lines are long and park is very busy. DDD with VR is NOT WORKING OUT at all honestly. If you know the line, at opening the line was down to the bottom of the ramp before the station and it took 2 and a half hours to get on. The entire queue is full now and is probably a 6 hour line. The ride is averaging 60 people per hour. Dispatches are 6 minutes apart. At the end of the ride it took 15 minutes to get off because it takes that long for the 3 cars in front of you to clear. Many headsets were failing. Mine wasn't working properly. The experience itself is very cool although I wish it had headphone audio to make more fulfilling. Still a surprisingly intense and realistic experience. This just isn't going to work though. It's seasons passes only this weekend on the ride and the line is easily 6 hours.
  13. Heading to the park for opening day! Excited to try VR and check out Bugs Bunny Boomtown (RIP to one of our 6 flags over the state of GA). I'll try to post a few pics later.
  14. Someone random on Facebook has claimed a Dollywood rep confirmed on the news that it will open. Sounds like BS but that's something to get everyone in this thread further contimplating.
  15. ^Dare Devil Dive has some pretty strong positive Gs going into both of the first 2 inversions, and even in a few dips, where it is hard to keep your body straight. I imagine some people will be caught off guard.
  16. I think it's a great addition to the park. I just feel like their is a better use of a great lakefront view/property. To me it seems more like an ideal location for a seated restaurant and some kind of nice walk as close to the lake as possible. Still looks great.
  17. ^I can't really help with most of those questions (in fact I'm totally lost on a few of them haha) but I assume the park has 200 sets so they can cycle them to avoid overheating issues.
  18. It's actually funny how much people are getting bent out of shape over the fact that some of us don't like the map style they use now. Yes, we know it still does the job, it's just an opinion. This off season can't end soon enough!
  19. Agree. The current Cedar Point map is over-styled, and the clutter makes it quite difficult to follow. I prefer the park map from the late 80's/early 90's. It was easier on the eyes. This map is glorious. I would love to see them go back to this style. Also, wall maps are kind of my thing.
  20. This review has me excited to try this Saturday! I still think the people wanting to do this will clog up the line unless they dedicate all the station switchbacks to VR so there is plenty of room for non-VR riders to bypass. People get confused and can be really slow so I don't think the prep part will keep up with operations. Still super excited to try after reading this review!
  21. I agree. I find their maps very hard to follow and lacking detail. Six Flags was the same way for a while but their current maps are a good balance at least in my humble opinion.
  22. This project has gone back and forth from promising to disappointing so many times. It's torturous!
  23. This might make me hold off on visiting the park again until next year. I was considering going this year since it's a great park and I haven't been on Tempesto yet (I've been on SFDK's Superman so there is no huge urge anyways) but I will definitely wait to hear this announcement! I'm hoping it's an awesome coaster, but even if it isn't, it's clearly something major.
  24. Dare Devil Dive is getting the VR at Over Georgia, not Ninja. There is a chance they will be moving the VR to Ninja but there is no real evidence supporting that. SFOG is advertising Ninja as "The All New Ninja" coming in summer 2016. We already know it is getting a repaint (which is unnecessary but I understand it helps market it) but I think we will see new trains with vest restraints since SFOG's Ninja is a great ride, just with a head banging issue for people who aren't tall enough to be above the restraints.
