Killing two birds with one stone. Perhaps just a hair faster tha Thunderbird? I'm skeptical because I've never heard any rumors regarding a new entrance until literally today. -

Okay. First and foremost, why in the world would an employee tell a guest that?!? Especially a high schooler during a band visit day? No hate, I'm a senior in high school. Anyways, that makes very very little sense. Park employees don't just go around telling people the future expansion projects. ESPECIALLY since you said you didn't even ask. Were you talking about the park getting a new entrance, then an employee butted in that information? I've heard my own fair share of blush-t from employees at the park, and it's generally from the employees who hate working there. I'm just flabbergasted that anyone would tell you that, well, because I'm pretty sure they wouldn't. HOWEVER. If somehow this is true information and someone wasn't blowing smoke up your rear, the entrance would have to be gutted and rebuilt- there isn't much room near the front entrance. And IF there is a coaster coming with it, the entrance would have to be in either Scandinavia or Orient. Scandinavia doesn't have tons of room around the front gate, except for the big wooded area behind Tivoli Hall, but I'm pretty sure that is where the park compiles trash..? In orient, I suppose they could re-use the old express entrance, but the haunt list is at 13 this year which means either another one must be built or this one is staying. What kind of coaster would it even be? I don't even know at this point... I sadly would guess a standard wing rider, nothing special in regards to record-braking stats. I'd love to say giga, but of all places the front entrance is not where the room is at. I suppose I'll believe it when I see it. I was really banking on the existing portions of the park being cleaned up before something like that. I also am expecting the park to eventually expand outwards behind the wind seeker into the giant field all the way to the Timberwolf. I'm skeptical to say the least, especially since this is a completely new concept and generally the parks already have some sort of game plan, and the fact nobody has mentioned this expansion before further pushes my feeling the employee was a jokester. As much as I love idea of a coaster entrance- or just a new entrance, even, I don't see it. Honestly, I was almost positive the entrance got refurbished in between 2011 and 12. I've never been strikingly concerned over the entrance because I don't think it is that bad. I'm hoping I'll eat my own words come this fall WOF normally gets the shaft, so I'm now extremely anxious for the next season and it is May. -

The only place you could really see it was the Mamba's second and third hill, so I definitely didn't want to try. There was a sign about it being closed for the early part of the season. The new haunt building was completed though, that was cool. -

Is there any information at all about what may be replacing Skyrider? Now that they have removed it, i'd say the only thing missing from the park's coaster line up is a stand up coaster... -

Well a Friday in the middle of June won't be a walk in the park. It probably won't be too packed, but. I mean, it's a Friday. In June. I'd expect rather lengthy lines- ride Mamba and Patriot as early as possible or as late as possible. Boomerang's line doesn't ever get too long, the highest wait I've seen was around an hour. Ride boomerang in the back. The Prowler will almost surely be busy, and it's a pretty decent woodie. Depending on how things play out, Timberwolf may or may not be open. If it is, you can hit that whenever because it generally has short lines in retrospect to the other coasters. Spinning Dragons has a horrible capacity, so that will probably take a while regardless. Should you find yourself with down time, I highly recommend Cyclone Sam's. It is the only ride at the park that is "one-of-a-kind". The line for it will be long though, as you will be going in summer and Cyclone Sam's is the only air-conditioned ride. Bamboozler is also a nice flat, and Thunderhawk. Regardless of how busy it is, you should have a great time. WoF is one of Kansas City's better attractions! I just realized the first annual BBQ and Brew at the park is the 19th. If it turns out as big as Cedar Fair would want it, id highly recommend fast lane passes. -

I went to Worlds of Fun yesterday, and the Timber Wolf was closed as I expected. Screamscape has some interesting information on the coaster, claiming there are talks about GCI and RMC bidding on it...? I think that is wonderful- but when I was there yesterday I noticed that part of the track has LITERALLY been removed and it looks like they are building it over-again there. This is making me think CF wants to get a few more seasons out of the ride- presumably making the hybrid come not in 2016, but 17 or 18. This made me sad, but it also makes me wonder what the next two years have in store! On a side note, WoF has signs everywhere this year proclaiming "Around the world in just one day!" The park seems to have put quite a chunk of money into the new maps and signage, and it appears that the theming of "Around the World in 80 Days" is being reimplemented. Phenomenal news!!! The Spinning Dragon's line took over an hour, and only 3 cars were running. That was great. Most of the operators seemed new and the Steelhawk ambassadors kept having people get out and switch seats- in my group I didn't get to sit on the outside because heavier persons have to, and I'm tiny. Is that for all wind seekers or...? It was really slowing the lines down. Thunder hawk was running all day, boomerang was down from 4 to close, and mamba had a hiccup at around 11:30. On the plus side, the mid course breaks were not noticeable. Mamba really needs a new paint job.. All of the coasters do, really. The octopus sign was still up, and the lot for it was empty. However, the ride safety thing listed the site as "scrambler". That was interesting. And once more- move those bumper cars! There is ample room in the Europa woods for a launched coaster! Those things just need to be moved for an entrance plaza Every section of the park had a sign like this. The arrows to different sections were a pleasant touch. -

Isn't cedar fair shelling out 120 million this year? What coasters are seem like solidified ones for next year? The drop coaster at Cedar Point where the theatre was? Valleyfair, Michigan's Adventure, and WoF need to be next in line. -

I feel like the park's being given the short end of the stick- time after time. WOF has more potential than perhaps any other single cedar fair park. Why isn't it used? Perhaps numbers aren't impressive. Attendance not high enough, no staggering profit..? I don't quite get how you can't see WOF as being "made for being a great park". The whole statement you made was sort of contradicting on itself. WOF definitely could be phenomenal, no doubt about that, but we need to wait and see if cedar fair will let that happen. You can't expect larger numbers and higher attendance without something to draw people into the park. Invest well, then watch the return make money in the long run! -

The timeline on World's of Fun's actual website states that 2015 is the addition of Splash Island and the new haunt, which I guess has been named Blood on the Bayou? This is interesting because I thought it was going to be murder mansion. It gets even more interesting once we think about the carnevil haunt in the Thunderhawk's midway, which is where this new haunt building is going. So a backwoods Louisiana-style indoor house with an entrance in a clown area? I mean I suppose this is all subject to change as it is only April, but it is probably something to be watching... I've also been thinking about the retracking of the Timberwolf that is supposedly in the works. Say it is retracked for 2016, and let's say RMC does it. Is cedar fair going to rename it? Would it get a new station? The coaster would definitely bring more traffic to that americana midway thing, but with the Thunderhawk down literally 50% of the time the park is open, what would that do? I know that a disk-O and flat ride package are coming, I just am skeptical where they should go. I wait for the year the Thunderhawk will close, and I've pondered about what could replace it. I could see an S&S screamin' swing, but that doesn't look anything like cedar fair's current game plan. Something to consider. I also know the octopus ride was sent to valleyfair, and now the scrambler is there to replace it. This leaves an open space where the scrambler was, so I really could see the new flyer flat rides right there. The only thing is, planet snoopy was completely facelifted in 2011, so does it really need anything else? Perhaps the entire ride package could be along the asphalt path between Africa and Americana, the one on the back end of the taxis. It's a pretty boring midway-if it even gets that name- and the only times it gets used for anything other than walking is in September when London Terror rolls out. Almost done ranting, but why does the park have two carousels? The one in 2013 was nice, it does a lot for the environment of the entrance. However, why is there still one in Europa? Of all the sections in the park, Europa is the only one that doesn't have a coaster-let alone a thrill ride. The carousel could be removed and that spot could be used for something useful -I like to dream of a drop tower even though it isn't reasonable. I was really expecting windseeker to be placed there instead of where the old entrance and Go-Karts were. And bumper cars. There is a significant amount of land behind them, and the kiddie bumper cars are in an awkward spot outside of the kids area. I say take out the small ones, then relocate the bumper cars from Europa to that spot. The bumper cars being moved opens up a space for an arrow-styled mine ride, something like King's Island's Adventure Express. The park needs a family coaster that doesn't spin. That whole creek bed and woodsy area is really a good spot, right in the middle of everything yet unused. Look at google maps, there is ample space for a 60' high family oriented coaster. And I'm just going to say it- the windseeker paving opened up that whole field for expansion. Will cedar fair do it? Time will tell, and maybe it won't ever happen. There is enough room for a whole new section to be added, especially since the Orient Express's old station has the pathway leading to it for Haunt. Perhaps connect that entrance by the ferris wheel to the windseeker's plaza? A whole new section can be built all the way around the backside of the Patriot to Steelhawk. Hell, let's call it the rest of the Orient section because the one there now is minuscule and needs SOMETHING...Food for thought! The more I look at it the more land I see that isn't used. It actually is frustrating. I'm happy the waterpark was cleaned up, because it used to be like walking into an 80's movie. Honestly, what is the park's competition? Silver Dollar City? Not really the same park by any means, and SDC doesn't have any large metro to attract. Perhaps Six Flags St. Louis? With some TLC this could be Cedar fair's next Carowinds. The closest "major" park is probably Holiday world or Valleyfair. Honestly, what does the company have to loose? WOF has barely any serious competition, and ample room for expansion. The question is why CF didn't choose to invest in this park. Perhaps Worlds of Fun won't ever get to be something the whole country knows by name, like Cedar Point or Disneyworld, but it has been 6 years since the last coaster in Kansas City and the rumor mill is for Canada's Wonderland and Valleyfair to get new coasters in 2016. Seriously, it's not like nobody lives in the Midwest, there just needs to be reason for people to visit the park! -
Official RCT3 Help Thread
baileybrucem replied to mcjaco's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
I purchased the RCT3 platinum edition this past August, and the game has been working fine for me until a few days ago. I have a multitude of custom scenery items and CFRs, but this issue started happening after two weeks of my last CS or CFR installation. The game loads to the to home screen fine, and from what I can tell the actual loading process for the parks works fine, too. However, within 3 minutes of my custom park opening (which already takes about 6 minutes to load), the game closes itself and gives me everyone's favorite "RCT3 has stopped working" message. I have tested between pause and play, and the game just crashes faster when it is playing. I don't know what else to do; I have tried every single compatibility mode: restarted my computer, run the game as an administrator, and turned firewall off. The only thing I can think of is to re-install the game, but I have so much custom scenery I worry I will do something stupid and jack the whole game up. Plus, the park I keep trying to load is very large and I don't want to start from scratch! I am using a Windows HP Pavilion TouchSmart 14 sleekbook with an external disk drive. It is a 64-bit, and has tons of memory still on it because I only use the computer for RCT If anyone can help, please please please do so because I really really really want to keep posting my park on this website, and I struggled with the one I have already uploaded. *I also tried making my park size file smaller, with success, but the park still crashes within 3 minutes* Thanks! Bailey -
Greetings! I've been playing rollercoaster tycoon for about 5 years, and I have recently acquired the third installment this past August. I read through all of these fictional parks others create quite often, and I decided it was about time I created my own. This is a project I have been working on for about three months now, and I would love to know what everyone thinks: 02/28/14 Currently under construction is WonderWorld, a theme park located in Monroe, Washington state just outside of Seattle. Owned and soon operated by a new franchisee Funtime Parks™, this thrill seeker's paradise will feature 2 extreme rollercoasters: A Holiday World-inspired Thunderbird, and the wooden Wildcat! WonderWorld also is introducing over 8 brand-new thrill rides, which include a log flume and a windseeker! Divided into two sections, Main street and a carnival-themed Grand Faire, riders of all ages will find something to love. Admission will start at $19.95 after taxes, and parking is $3.00! Wonderworld will be opening for its first season Saturday, March 29th, and is projected to attract over 100,000 visitors by the season's close. The Main Street section of the park is almost completed, and is expecting some finishing-touches based on improving the footpaths. The Grand Faire section is currently installing the remaining light packages, and is also adding a few touch-ups to certain areas of pavement. There are currently plans to add two enclosed dining areas by the end of July, offering climate-controlled seating and fresh food. Rollercoasters: Wildcat: Towering over 120 feet tall, The wooden Wildcat is certainly a coaster all its own. Designed and manufactured in partnership with Great Coasters International, this wooden beast drops riders at speeds approaching 60 miles an hour with only a lap bar restraint! The track weaves in and out of itself, delivering huge thrills in a rather-small footprint. During the ride, passengers will encounter over 6 seconds of 'air' time, a full 360 degree helix, multiple headchopper effects, and dizzying hights! The track itself is 3,800 feet long, and riders are guarenteed to love every inch! Thunderbird: Does the name sound familiar? Inspired by Holiday World's 2015 edition, the Bolliger and Mabillard wing rider, Thunderbird will launch riders at 70 miles an hour, then take fly them through SEVEN disorienting inversions! The bright orange track features a zero-g roll, an Immelmann Loop, and a diving loop! Not to mention the terrain-utilizing 140 foot elevation change! Stay tuned for updates throughout the season(s) I will be uploading larger pictures without the tools on the left, but my RCT game is being stupid and keeps crashing. So, momentarily, there will be no updates Comments and criticism welcome! The parking lot is very large, so the company can focus on planned expansion in the future. The entire parking area, which is lacking the asphalt because of how zoomed out it is. The grand Entrance. Upon entering the park through the extravagant entrance gates, park guests are greeted with Main Street, which includes a variety of shops and over 4,000 gallons of water splashing in fountains. This section of the park is almost complete, and is right on schedule to open for a 2014 season. The bathrooms located to the right of the entrance are air-conditioned and have Dyson hand dryers *fancy*. A view down the almost-completed Main Street. Main Street's central food court, with everything from pizza to funnel cake. The park already features the Circus Center, a large dining hall for special events! The Circus Center is behind the 140 foot tall Ferris Wheel, located in the Grand Faire section of the park. Guests will get some of the best views from the highest point in this giant wheel! Every major ride has a safety rating to allow our guests to decide if they would like to ride the attraction. This particular sign belongs to the park's Disk-O, a spinning ride taking guests almost 60 feet up, and appearing to fly right off the track! The midway(s) of this section of the park are full of things to do, so even non-riders can be occupied! This outdoor game area includes a coconut shy, a test-your-strength, a ball toss, and a ring toss! The midway games cleverly hide a Halloween building... interesting The log flume ride, Clowntown River, takes riders through a quiet journey in the woods. However, No woodland journey is complete without a few drops, one over 60 feet tall! Areal view of Clowntown River Across from the flume ride is the Chainsaw, a permanent carnival classic that jostles riders 70 feet in the air. The park's 120 foot tall GCI wooden rollercoaster, Wildcat, features an intricately designed entrance with beautiful "wild" landscaping. Wildcat's jaw-dropping, G-force filled layout. A classic flying carpet ride, the Ali-Baba gently swings riders around in a circular motion. This mild thrill ride can reach speeds up to 20 mph! Across from the game center, there are more outdoor games which cover the entrance to another Halloween-only attraction. The Grand Faire will also features a classic swing ride, Calypso. This ride will take riders 30 feet in the air and swing them, giving amazing views of the surrounding midway! It looks even better at night! Moving back into Main Street for a moment, the Windseeker dominates the skyline with the SlingShot. It includes bins for personal items and a ride operator booth. More bathrooms across from the Windseeker, which once again have dyson hand-dryers. What would a Carnival-styled theme park be without the classic Scrambler ride? There is even a Loop-the-Loop, the Center Ring Loop "Coaster" that spins riders around a ring and momentarily suspends them 50 feet in the air! The main attraction for the park is the Thunderbird, a launched wingrider manufactured by Bolliger and Mabillard. With a detailed entrance and que, not a single thing about this ride was ignored. Thunderbird's break run. An areal view of WonderWorld The majority of Thunderbird's terrain-hugging layout.

That is the most depressing thing I have heard in a long time. I was hoping it would be a midway expansion to later be tied around by the windseeker area. Oh well. I guess there can only be one carowinds at a time. -

So I noticed some construction to the right of the thunderhawk and the Timberwolf's double helix. There are markings and the land has been flattened, there are three different construction vehicles... I wonder. The thunderhawk has been closed for the past week, and hasn't had anyone there. Perhaps the Thunderhawk is about to disappear? I thought they had finally passed all of it's mechanical issue. Peculiar To say the least I wonder if this is about to be a flat ride... Hmmmm disko anyone? or I could dream Big and say a coaster station, but let's be honest
