  1. Oh my gosh if I were to be honest WoF could really benefit from an arrow coaster. As much as people like to dream about giga coasters everywhere, WoF could probably fit that ride in particular towards the middle Europa section of the park. It'd be nice to see it just moved and refurbished, not end up as a pile of scrap metal in a dump somewhere.
  2. This thread in particular gets so boring
  3. OMG "Intimidator 305" at KD then "Intimidator" at Carowinds, now "Fury 325" at Carowinds and "Fury" at Kd? WHAT IS THIS?!
  4. CNN already has it on their website
  5. I'm not sure about when the Scandinavia entrance first opened, but the Amaricana entrance closed its gates in 1997, 2 years after cedar fair purchased the park. If it were still there, it would take up the land that the wind seeker occupies.
  6. I just question where a new entrance would even go. I suppose an entire new plaza could be built sort of to the left of Patriot's lift hill (when coming from the parking lot), right smack where the Orient Express used to be. That would expand Orient, and finally make use of some land close to the parking lot. PLUS that opens up more areas to expand along the western side of the park. You know, the one with the HUGE FIELD? We would have to say goodbye to the old Orient Express station (the haunted house there is the weakest of the bunch anyways), and the Ferris wheel would probably need to be moved... Interesting thoughts. The entrance is just very cramped, and it's not like they can remodel and expand it because park services are literally on the other side of the gate. There just isn't ample room to build a grand enough entrance unless it is relocated elsewhere. The problem is, the entrance can't leave the parking lot haha. I completely agree with you on the land to the left of prowler. The Finish Fling ride has a lot of land behind it, and if the entrance WERE to be redone it wouldn't be too hard to get a coaster with a station in Scandinavia that wraps around over to the entrance. The thing is, that wouldn't fix how long the Tarmac path is from the parking lot. *sigh* Let's just demolish the whole entrance and park services buildings, then start from scratch
  7. There are two issues with this idea: 1) Worlds of Fun already has a tall, non looping steel coaster 2) why would a park place two of the same coaster models within its gates...? I could see maybe one GTX, but definitely not two. The things the park really needs (coaster-wise) are a family coaster and a sit-down launcher. A complete gutting and remodel of the Europa section would be met with open arms as well. I'm skeptical of new entrance rumors, because is that honestly something the park desperately needs? I love the idea of a Carowinds-esque gate, but let's be realistic. The inside needs attention more than the front entrance. It's pretty nice for now.
  8. I'd take timberwolf out of the question. While it is full of enormous potential as an RMC coaster, it has already been confirmed that the whole ride is being retracked with GCI, and they are already about done with the first of 3 phases. I really think the mine buster or Mean Streak would be a great test coaster
  9. Thanks for the explanation. I was always under the assumption that the Kansas City metro was on par with the likes of Minneapolis (not including St. Paul) or Charlotte. Since making Worlds of Fun more of a regional destination will not happen it would be nice to see them take the route that Kings Dominion took by at least bringing back some of the small things that the old CF regime took out and restore the park back to its original "Around The World in 80 Days" theme. Also any idea as to how well the Worlds of Fun Village does for the park? This year the "Around the World in 80 Days" has definitely been re-implemented. There are signs everywhere. The maps are spread out by sections and they have themed music by area this year. Huge improvement from last year, I'd have to say.
  10. On a complete side note, why is the octopus still in the parking lot? i took these earlier today WAT. I thought this was at valleyfair... Oh and the swans have arrived.
  11. It appears they have only completely overhauled the first drop and turnaround, I highly doubt it is almost done! It will probably be done in sections
  12. I don't remember where, but somewhere in this thread somebody asked about pictures of the Timberwolf's retracking. OH! The scrambler's old spot is still there, but the path to it has been removed and there is grass there now. The Viking voyager also has quite a few new adorable signs. They have quite a bit of work going on! Look at all the wood they have. I'll be curious when this actually is finished up... They are really tracking the whole thing over. #iwishRMCwouldhavedonethis The parking lot also has a big landscaping divider that DEFINITELY was not there last season. Random side note
  13. The scrambler is officially now called the "Scandi Scrambler". Why? Who knows. Wonder when it will open... How cute. The sign looks just like the chicken shack across the pathway. Colors the exact same. The ride got some nice TLC, which makes a difference.
  14. I don't know what to do with that. I mean. I'm pretty sure cedar fair, herschend, sea world, and six flags all have multi-year plans. I don't think us speculating led to Carowinds getting a $50,000,000 investment in 3 years. I also don't think us speculating has much impact on the theme park industry in general, because if it did there would be 12 million rollercoasters every year lol. Just like every other industry the world has, money is what determines who gets what and when. It's a nice idea to think enthusiasts have a say in what happens in parks across the globe, but let's be honest. Moneymoneymoneymoney. That's why parks get improvements, expansions, new rides, new food, etc. Regardless of what we want to believe the end goal for all of the parks is increased attendance, which means an increase in profit. IMO, a theme park would see an increase in attendance if a large new attraction was built. Especially in a metro area where there isn't any nearby competition. And room for expansion every which way. OH WAIT. THAT WOULD MAKE SENSE FOR WORLDS OF FUN. INTERESTING.
  15. I thought California's Great America had a height restriction because of the airport nearby?
  16. There is so much speculation I don't know what to believe
  17. I'm assuming people are starting to hear about the new entrance Kings Dominion is potentially receiving? Would CF do more than one park entrance in one year? This thread gets so dead so quickly..
  18. Check out screamscape. I'm almost convinced that TW is just being patched up so they can squeeze another year out of it.
  19. Spinning Dragons is in the bottom left corner, and Boomerang is right behind the Mamba. And they used Prowler, not Timberwolf.. Lol I guess we should just wait and see. I'd bet on a new flat ride package over a new entrance. Heck, I'd bet on an RMC Timberwolf conversion before a new entrance. While I'd love to be wrong, let's look at what we have solid evidence for before running off crazy And let's not forget the dark ride that will most probably make it's way into the park, where would it go? The park doesn't have any large structures that aren't used often.
  20. I'm pretty positive that is for no reason. Dorney, Valleyfair, Kings Dominion, California's Great America, Knotts, and Michigan's Adventure all have coasters on their "skyline" that aren't actually in the park. Don't read into that. Cedar fair makes those, and they aren't anything to base information on.
  21. There are two paths that lead visitors to the entrance. One comes from the standard parking lot where guests are first directed to, and does indeed come from the right in retrospect to the entrance position. However, the other path comes from the more eastern parking spots, and also is where the VIP parking is/ was. That pathway follows a gate to the entrance from the far left, just passed the nurtury. I don't think it would be reasonable to expect any Fury-styled coaster, because the entrance is sort of cramped behind the park services building and what not. Maybe a gatekeeper type coaster, maybe...
