  1. Not going to happen, and it's not needed anyway. Holiday World's woodies are fantastic the way they are and they put a lot of work into maintaining them.
  2. Looks like I'll need to add this park to my trip to Holiday World, King's Island, and Cedar Point next year. This looks awesome. I wanted to go this year but the timing just didn't work out with their schedule.
  3. I could not agree more. Ride it in the middle row of the last car during the day and wait for the front row at night. The front is rough in spots, my feet were actually bouncing a few inches off the floor of the car at one point, but it's absolutely worth it.
  4. I never noticed this before but after you mentioned this, I just paid attention on my last ride (ride #13, left inside seat, last row) and there is definitely a nice pop of airtime going into the dive loop. Probably really nice in the front outer left seat, which I've ridden a couple times but never noticed. I still think front outer right is the best seat. Edit: I didn't see Sid's update until after posting this. So there you go. Lol
  5. They also mentioned there was extensive rehab over the off season that supposedly made it less uncomfortable..anyone who's ridden it this season agree that it's better than before? I didn't find it all that rough when I rode it a month ago, but my last visit to the park before that was in 2007 so I can't really compare. But like others have said, it's not the roughness that makes the ride suck. It's just boring with the modifications they did to it early on. If you've ever had a near trimless ride on it, you'll be able to appreciate what it probably once was.
  6. It's definitely unique, and with the size and shape I think I like it more than any other Immelmann I've experienced.
  7. When I visited a little over a month ago, Diamondback was consistently double stacking all day.
  8. This is awesome. I did this a lot the two days I was there for HoliWood Nights and I wondered if it was their policy all the time or if they were just making exceptions with all the people there for the event. I'm glad to hear they allow it all the time.
  9. ^^ Yes and ^ yes! I visited Holiday World for the first time for HoliWood Nights and I have to completely agree with both of these posts. It's definitely the quality of not just the rides, but everything the park does that makes it such a great experience. Nothing that I saw seemed to be just thrown together, it appeared that they put a lot of thought into every single attraction and most of the buildings in the park as well. The Dippin' Dots stand in Halloween was even painted appropriately! It's all the little things that Holiday World does that adds to their incredible lineup of coasters (with no filler at all) to create one of the best experiences I've ever had at a park. Not to mention the financial aspect of visiting HW. Between the free parking, free drinks, reasonable entrance fee, and food that is not only a better value but much better quality than most places, it's easier on the wallet as well, especially for families. A point that cannot be made enough is the quality of their four coasters. I knew they were going to be good, especially The Voyage and Thunderbird, but I didn't know just how good all four would be. All custom designs, and all are amazing. Quality over quantity indeed. Raven in the second to back at night is one of the best experiences I've ever had on a roller coaster. The Legend is awesome if you sit front left. The laterals were pretty rough on my rides but it was still great. The Voyage is incredible, enough said (with and without the MCBR - got 23 rides with and 4 without). And everybody knows how good Thunderbird is. It's a blast and I love all the little theming touches throughout the barn and plaza. I plan on coming back very soon, probably next year for HoliWood Nights again.
  10. I remember reading that there would be an announcement in August. And then this timeline appeared and it looks like they'll do this leading up to an announcement, which would make sense if they're announcing a new coaster. ^^ Did that link actually work at one time? What did it have?
  11. Does anybody know why TTD breaks down so often? When I was there for a few days last week it broke down multiple times every day, though I never saw it down for more than 20-30 minutes. A couple times I saw 2-3 guys walk down near the end of the launch track and fiddle with something beneath the track for a bit, then walk back and it opened. I hadn't been to CP since 2007 so I don't know if that's common. Another time I saw someone go into the building by the unloading area for a while and then it reopened. Sometimes you can get really lucky with the lines on TTD being short due to break downs. I got 7 rides on it on Thursday alone last week, including 4 in a row between 7:00 and 8:00 just after it reopened.
  12. When you do, ride it in the front and prepare to say goodbye to that 8/10 ranking Absolutely. Definitely wait for the front at night on this. I rode it at night on my first visit to Kings Island in 2002, but didn't ride the front at night until my first trip back to the park last week. Better overall experience in the front and it's worth the extra wait, if there is one.
  13. I'm with you. My first time was actually legitimately scary. The swaying from Superman's cars, and the drop that seemed to never end... I'm with both of you. Drop of Doom is the only ride I can remember being actually scared on in the past decade or so.
  14. go early for opening time. hit the low capacity rides up the middle before it gets busy: wmg, fly, vortexx. levi and behehoth go through lines fast because B&M. don't forget orbiter, one of the few surviving huss giant enterprises! get there at 10, leave at 2 and go for lunch somewhere else with better, less expensive food. Thanks for the tips! I'll keep that in mind, but she lives in Buffalo and I don't know how early we're leaving anyway so unfortunately I doubt I'll get there by 10.
  15. How busy is this park on Saturdays? I might be in Toronto for the day this Saturday with my sister and I'm thinking of having her drop me off here for half the day. Would it even be worth it for something like 4 hours? I do have a Cedar Fair platinum pass so I'm not worried about wasting admission costs. Maybe just ride Leviathan and Behemoth and call it a day? Would else should I not miss here?
  16. I did this exact thing Monday without a problem.
  17. This was posted some time ago, but I wanted to give extra thanks and attention to the fact that tightening the seat belt as tight as you can on Magnum makes the ride so enjoyable. I rode that in the second to last row three times in a row tonight and it was a blast. Absolutely fantastic every time and no pain whatsoever in any part of my body. Also, the new restraints on Maverick make the ride so much better. I still enjoyed it a lot with the old restraints (my only other rides were in 2007 a couple weeks after opening), but being able to just throw my hands up and go with the ride and not position myself in a way to not hurt my head makes the ride even more amazing. I had a lot of fun in the park last night and today and I'll be here for a couple more days.
  18. Has anybody noticed Banshee getting much rougher in the evening or cold temperatures? I rode it 6 times today. The first was extremely smooth in the front row, the next 3 were great, the 5th had a bit of a rattle (row 7 far right, I think), and the 6th (row 3, far right) was painful. It could have been fatigue or just bad luck or a bunch of other factors, but I'm curious if others have experienced this same thing since it cooled off quite a bit the last couple hours of the day. Regardless, I had a blast at King's Island today and I might be back for a few more rides on Banshee and Flight of Fear before heading north to Cedar Point!
  19. I'm at the park today. My only other visit to the park was in 2002. Are operations on Diamondback always terrible? When I was in line they were running 3 trains and double stacking every single time I paid attention. It was still really fun in the back when I finally got on, but more bumpy than I expected. As for the other rides, Banshee is fantastic, Flight of Fear is better than I remembered, Firehawk is surprisingly good (I remember not enjoying this when it was at Geauga Lake). Backlot Stunt Coaster was also better than I thought it would be. Overall I'm having fun on my day here between multiple days at Holiday World and Cedar Point.
  20. To me the rest of the ride felt more out of control without the MCBR. But it didn't affect the overall experience much at all. It's still probably my new #1 regardless of that. I heard some people complaining about it, but everyone seemed to be having a great time. I know I did.
  21. Well there's a perspective for everyone asking about how rideable Voyage is this season. Agreed, also shows that the MCBR really isn't detracting from the ride at all. I should mention I can take a beating from a wooden coaster better than a lot of people in their early 30s. I only rode Thunderbird 7 times. It's a great ride and I loved it, but the roll at the end was disorienting and made me pretty dizzy. Tatsu's pretzel loop does the same thing to me. So we're all different. As for the MCBR, this was my first trip to Holiday World so I can't compare to years past. However, at the beginning of the first night of ERT I did 7 straight rides on The Voyage without leaving the station, and the first 4 didn't have the MCBR on at all. I can tell you it does make a difference but it's still a blast with it on, which is why I rode it 23 time with it stopping in the middle of the ride. I actually don't know if I could have done 27 with it off. I'm glad I got to experience the ride both ways, and I'm glad it's usually on.
  22. Holiwood Nights was such a fantastic event. This was my first visit to Holiday World and will not be my last. I spent Friday and Saturday in the park and I'm heading to King's Island tomorrow so I called it a night early tonight. I just can't say enough good things about the park and this event. I basically paid regular admission prices and felt like I was treated like a VIP for 2 days. Such a welcome change from some other parks I've visited, where I feel more like a number that they're trying to squeeze every penny out of than an actual guest at a park. The all you can eat food, photo walk back tour, and ERT was all awesome. The Voyage blew me away. I rode it 27 times over 2 days and it delivered every time in every seat. And Raven in the back at night is something everybody needs to experience.
  23. Thanks for the wifi answers! There are a couple game 7s of the NHL playoffs during both nights of Holiwood Nights and I'd like to keep up with those or stream it on my phone without eating a bunch of data, if possible. I've never been to Holiday World and I'm really excited for my first trip there. Seems like a great park and it's awesome to see the things they offer to their guests for free.
  24. Anybody know if having the printout for my platinum pass will be good enough for free parking? I'm planning to redeem it at the park (how long does this usually take at KI on a Sunday?). I assume it will work for parking, but would like to know what to expect.
  25. Can't wait! Someone briefly mentioned wifi at Holiday World pages ago in this thread. Does Holiday World really offer free wifi? If so, is it throughout the park or is there a specific place where the signal is strongest? How fast in the connection?
