  1. Oh dear God no Hopefully it's a 10 foot tall electric fence in case somebody drops their phone while on the ride.
  2. I hope neither of those two trains ever has any problems.
  3. Speaking of maps, I always enjoyed the layout of Avalanche Bobsleds on this old King's Dominion map.
  4. I think it's funny that they're using Full Throttle in the images to promote this.
  5. A couple things I would recommend (mostly for CP, with a couple other things thrown in). 1. Buy a Cedar Fair Platinum Pass. From what I've read you're already spending at least 4 days at Cedar Fair parks. This will get you into all of them, plus you'll get free parking and early entry (at least to CP, not sure about KI and CW). Also might make budgeting easier with paying the monthly fee. 2. Utilize early entry at CP, either by buying a platinum pass or staying at Breakers Express or one of the more expensive hotels on the peninsula. If you're staying off the peninsula, go in the marina gate where they're building Valravn and you'll be closer to what you want to get to first (MF, Maverick, Valravn, TTD). I usually go to Maverick right at early entry for a couple quick rides (although be warned that sometimes it doesn't open right on time for early entry) and then head to MF for at least one ride and then try to get to TTD around the time the park opens. This is also based on what has been on early entry in the past, which could change this year with Valravn being open. 3. As many others have stated, do not go to Raptor or GateKeeper until later in the afternoon or the evening. These lines really die down after the majority of people have gone into the park. 4. Is KI as far south you want to go in the midwest? I personally love Holiday World and Storm Chaser at Kentucky Kingdom looks fantastic, and they're not TOO far of a drive from KI (depending on what you think a long drive is). 5. I would also recommend driving from CP to the northeast. There are a couple things you can hit along the way or not too far off the path. Like Niagara Falls, Darien Lake, Waldameer (they do ride tickets and it's not far off the freeway between CP and Buffalo so it's a good way to break up the drive with a few rides), and I'm sure other things along the way. Sounds like a pretty fantastic trip you're planning. Have fun and hopefully we'll see a nice trip report from this mega trip!
  6. I was there on Saturday, and I can confirm that Tatsu was running one station, at least in the morning. When I walked by the station later the line was out behind the soda counter. Two trains. That's interesting because I rode Tatsu twice on Saturday, once around 4:30 and again around 7:30, and both times they were using both stations and the line was only filling about 1/2 to 2/3 of the switchbacks. It was about a 35-45 minute wait.
  7. Between this and the CP thread, you're my favorite person on this site today.
  8. Batman should not be this far down on a list. Ever. Alternatively, Goliath should not be this high up on a list. Ever. Completely agree about Batman and Goliath. Twisted Colossus should also be higher. Rode it for the first time this last weekend (went Saturday, tried to go Sunday but turned around when I saw the backup) and it was amazing. Best ride in the park. Also, I took one ride on Apocalypse on Saturday and it was actually running pretty well until the last couple turns. If it wasn't close to an hour wait when I was back there I definitely would have ridden it again. Funny that Tatsu was running both stations on Saturday but apparently only one on Sunday...
  9. For the past few times I've been (including a visit just a few days ago), it was open. That's awesome, thanks! As for Green Lantern, I've never been on it and don't plan to. But if it's open, I'm not going to complain that it's pulling people from other lines.
  10. Thanks everybody who responded on the current status of the coasters. It has been a while since I've been so it's nice to see updates from people who have been recently. Very much appreciated. Is Lex Luthor back open? I remember it was closed for a while previously but don't recall anyone saying that it's back open now and the ride list on the site doesn't say that it's closed.
  11. Where did you sit on Scream for the excellent rides? I've had mostly good luck with Scream in the past but haven't been to SFMM in about a year and a half and I'm going this weekend. It makes me sad to hear how terrible Apocalypse has become. I really enjoyed it when I was there last. Now it sounds like I might want to just skip it. I'm a little bummed that New Revolution won't be open in time for me, but I knew it wouldn't be anyway. I can't wait finally ride TC though! It will be my first RMC.
  12. I honestly can't tell if this T-Rex giga talk is sarcasm or not...
  13. I know I'm not the person who asked the question, but thanks for this info. This is good to know. I'm probably doing a Dollywood-Carowinds trip this year and hitting Carowinds on a Wednesday in early June.
  14. I noticed this on my trip to KI last year and thought it was pretty strange and annoying.
  15. That's what I'm doing. I'm going to get into Louisville around 4:00 PM so I'm planning to get a season pass, hit the park for a few hours that evening and then all day the next day. It's a good deal.
  16. I rode Apocalypse in August 2014 and, while somewhat rough, it was one of my favorite coasters in the park. I'm going again next month and I'm sad to read about the terrible state it seems to be in now.
  17. Apparently it was so cool that my phone decided to post it twice.
  18. This is a few years old, but I just read this for the first time because it was posted on the HWN Facebook page. Pretty cool story on the HoliBlog about how The Raven got its name: http://www.holidayworld.com/holiblog/2011/10/28/halloween-tale/
  19. On Facebook they did a poll of which coaster you think is getting a tunnel and they had the three wooden coasters listed as the options. I know they like to mess with us but I don't think they'd do that if it wasn't going on a coaster.
  20. Those crab fries are the #1 reason I'm taking a trip there again next year. So delicious.
  21. Thanks, I really appreciate the responses and the info!
  22. ^ Ah, I wasn't aware that Hersheypark had early access to rides for resort guests. Thanks for the info about Hershey Lodge. What about the park? Anything we should know beforehand or times of day to hit specific rides? I think it has been at least 20 years since any of us have been back there. I personally haven't ridden anything besides Trailblazer and SooperDooperLooper (my first coaster).
  23. Hershey Lodge is HUGE. . . if it was completely booked? I'd be concerned about crowds. I misunderstood. I guess my sister was looking for a suite and they were all booked out of those. It looks like they have regular rooms available.
  24. My family is doing a family reunion in New Jersey the last weekend of July, and we'd like to go to Hersheypark on Thursday, July 28. Some of us may also go on Wednesday, July 27, even if it's just for the water park. Is it pretty crowded during the week in late July? The property hotels were all booked, and according to the person on the phone it's because of a cheerleading competition that week/weekend, but we were unable to find this anywhere online. Does anyone know anything about that and how much it affects crowds? Any advice for families (a lot of the families coming have small children, ages 1-10) and how to go about the park would also be really appreciated!
