Does she know your trick for riding it? Is JRice92 on Valravn this year? I remember seeing him kicking ass on Millennium Force the last two years but thought I remembered reading that he was moving rides this year. Sounds like you guys had a good trip!

I've had both the front row and back car at night on The Beast and I found both to be amazing.

^ That honestly blows my mind. Aside from the color they look nothing alike.

Night rides on Raven are pretty amazing as well. Holiwood Nights is a fantastic event, if only for the nighttime ERT on the four coasters, which are all excellent at night. But there's a lot of cool stuff in addition to just the nighttime ERT.

I think it boils down to "Why did you paint this coaster that didntt need it yet instead of this other coaster that needed it more?" Also to make Riddler's look different than Green Lantern? Obviously for new people at the park so they don't get confused thinking it is just 1 ride or same etc? Is this actually a thing? The two rides had the same colors but looked completely different. Did people actually think they were the same ride because of the colors?

Holiday World is one of my favorite parks. But I love good wooden coasters and Holiday World has 3 great ones. I can understand why people thinks it's over hyped though.

Great report and pictures! I'm excited to ride Mystic Timbers as it gets dark. Almost all coasters are better at night but there's something about the coasters at Kings Island... They all give really excellent night rides.

In case anybody else is interested, I was curious about Lightning Rod's status over time and the wait times for other rides leading up to my trip in a couple weeks so I wrote a quick little app that pulls the wait times every 15 minutes and stores them. This is literally the only thing I really care about when it comes to changes made to this ride.

I'm going to Dollywood in a couple of weeks for my first trip ever, and I know I probably won't be back for a long time. Does it suck that I'm coming to the realization that there's a good chance Lightning Rod will be closed? Yes. Am I going to be very disappointed that I don't get to ride one of the best roller coasters in the world? Yes. But is that going to ruin my day and am I going to bitch about it over and over? No, because complaining about it won't do anything and there's an entire park to explore with a number of other great rides. I'm hopeful that I'll get lucky and be able to ride it, but I also know I might be going home only talking about how great the rest of the park is (and all the other awesome parks I'm visiting).

What are crowds like for Rock the Park? The day I'm planning to go apparently is the same day and I'm wondering if I need to switch my trip around a bit.

Wooden coasters are awesome, and Holiday World has arguably the best collection out there. Can't wait to get back to this park next week.

Oh interesting. I swear I saw two trains on the storage track earlier this morning... Maybe they added a second train or maybe I was seeing things.

Magnum is running one train today. I've been on a couple pretty empty days but I don't recall seeing them ever run less than two. Is this common for the first couple weeks or could it have something to do with getting it certified? Not trying to speculate, just curious because that's a long ride.

I'll be at Dollywood in 3 1/2 weeks for 2 1/2 days. It's part of a larger trip so it's not getting cancelled, although I may spend a little more time at Carowinds if Lightning Rod continues to have major problems. Hopefully I can get lucky and hit it on a couple good days, but I'm sure either way I'll have fun there.

I saw on Cedar Point's Facebook this morning that Melt is now open! Can't wait to try it in a few weeks.

Thanks for all the Thunderhead feedback! I typically sit near the back I'll make sure to get most rides near the front on that. We'll be there for a few days so I'm sure I'll have plenty to chances to ride all over the train. I'll be there four weeks from today... can't wait!

I've seen a number of reports recently about Thunderhead being pretty rough. I'm making my first visit to the park in 4 weeks, and probably won't be coming back for a long time. How rough is Thunderhead? For anyone who has also been on Apocalypse in the last year or so, is it as bad as that was before it got worked on? I don't mind some roughness but Apocalypse was getting to be too much for me to ride more than once or twice last year.

Unless I've missed something, we don't actually know that they have a Raptor track coaster in the works. All I've seen is they posted an image of some track they made in their shop and then an image of a prototype they were building at their plant. So as far as we know, that's all they're doing right now and no Raptor track coaster is in the works.
