Photo TR: VIP Tour at Cedar Point
scottiemon replied to Jodon's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have enjoyed your trip report. I have never had the pleasure of going to Cedar Point, but hope to do so in the future. Reading your escapades "almost" made me feel like I was there. Thank you for posting it. Peace! -

I totally agree with this. I love Apocalypse, one per visit. It is crazy fast, and crazy fun, but a bit rough on this 49 year old body. I don't think I could do either, but any thought I might have had about participating in the Colossus marathon was wiped out when I read that you would have to do three hours on Apocalypse.

Smoothest Coaster You've Ridden?

My vote is Medusa @ SFDK! So much better than Scream @ SFMM! -
Seatbelts maybe, but the bars work fine on Shock Wave, Mind Bender, sooperdooperLooper, Montezooma's and Scorpion. Yeah unfortunately it's Six Flags policy now that any inverting coaster without OTSRs must have a seat belt, thats why they were added to YOLO, and apparently they consider the MCBR tilt on Goliath close enough to an inversion. I'd GLADLY trade those awful OTSRs for any seat belts they want to put in. ^^^ YES, 1000 times, YES^^^

Good point, and I would have to agree. I do not even ride Revolution anymore because of those damn OTSR. I never had the pleasure of riding this ride without them. In my younger years, it was worth the pain. At this point in my life, I can no longer tolerate pain, regardless of how cool the ride is. I wish they would wake up and take them out. Superduperlooper in Hershey does not have them for crying out loud!!!!

I agree Duff. This used to be my home park, and I always loved the Wizzer. From back in the day when it was Willard's Wizzer. I love the way it moves it's way through the wooded terrain. I wish SFMM had an equivalent. The closest we had was Ninja, which now has a big part of it's wooded terrain removed due to the accident.

Here is also something to remember.... People are more likely to post negative things than positive things. Now, I am not a fanboi...but I will share this: I have a gold membership at SFMM. I have had nothing but positive experiences. I have only been gold for this year, but I have always had a good time, friendly experiences with operators, and "decent" food. Yes, they could do better. But they are sure a lot better than they were years ago, the last time I went to the park with any regularity, and wrote them off. Since things are improving (IMHO), I remain optimistic that this trend will continue.

What a fantastic story. Congrats on reaching your goal, and I look forward to reading the rest of your TR. -
Breaking news.... Say goodbye to Colossus in a Colossal way! Six Flags Magic Mountain is hosting a 36-hour coaster marathon on Colossus and they’re looking for riders. The Colossus marathon will start on Monday, August 4 at 9 a.m. and will end at 9 p.m. on Tuesday, August 5. If you are interested in participating, please e-mail the park at sixflagsevent@gmail.com and tell them why you want to be one of the 24 participants in this once-in-a-lifetime experience. Each participant will receive a Six Flags 2015 Season Pass. Grand Prize will be four GOLD Passes and extra surprises! I am a bit too old for this, but I wish anybody luck who might want to give this a try.
