I visited the park yesterday with two friends (one was JCoaster) We were able to there from NYC for opening, which was a good omen for the entire day. We hit Thunderbolt first to get the wood credit and to get it out of the way before the crowds built up. From there we went to tackle Goliath. All I can say about it is 'Wow!' Never experienced a giant inverted boomerang, so it was certainly a unique thrill for me, and sitting in the front row was great, especially when you start the climb before it goes backwards. After Goliath we headed over to Dark Knight. Of the three B&M floorless I've been on, DK is easily the worst. Still a good ride, but it was very short, and a floorless is not a true floorless without a cobra roll. However, the first drop picked up quite a bit of speed, even in the front. Then after some lunch at JB's Smokehouse, it was time for the main event: Bizarro. I'm honoured to finally have this credit under my belt. It's my new #1 steel and is fighting with El Toro for my #1 overall. After Bizarro, we rode Gotham City Gauntlet and Catwoman's Whip just to get the credits. GCG is no great shakes, and Catwoman is inferior to its sister (Blackbeard at GAdv) because it only takes one lap. From those two rides we tackled Mind Eraser, which I hope lives up to it's name because I want to forget about it. Ouch. Headed over to Pandemonium, which was a lot of fun. I was expecting something akin to a spinning wild mouse, but was taken by surprise by the constant spinning and the steeper than expected drops. Took a quick spin on Blizzard River (loved the themeing!) , wanted to dry off on Goliath but it was down. Hit DK again to check out the backrow, then over to Bizarro again to do same. Then it was back on the road to NY. Overall, it was a great day, and I plan on visiting again next year to check out the RMC. Thunderbolt 1x - 4/10 Goliath 1x - 8/10 Dark Knight 2x - 7/10 Bizarro 2x - 10/10 Gotham City Gauntlet 1x - 6/10 Catwoman's Whip 1x - 5/10 Mind Eraser 1x - 3/10 Pandemonium 1x - 8/10 Blizzard River 1x

GAdv: 2015- Batman backwards, general maitenance and infrastructure updates 2016- Publicly apologize for the the Dark Knight coaster, remove the Dark Knight coaster 2017- Re-open Old Country, anchor it with a new dueling GCI woodie 2018- Build a brand-new coaster within Skull Mountain 2019- Intamin mega-lite/giga on the old safari land behind Ka 2020- Declare bankruptcy Dorney Park (I've decided that Dorney is close enough to be considered my second "home park" even if it is an hour and a half away) 2015- Remove Dinosaurs Alive, start surveying that chunk of land 2016- New wooden coaster on the old Dinosaurs land 2017- Replace Dominator with a new Intamin gyro drop 2018- Some sort of interactive dark ride 2019- Replace Steel Force with a new B&M hyper or Intamin giga in same footprint 2020- Upgrades to water park -
Oldest Coaster You've Ridden

Thunderhawk at Dorney (1923) then the Coney Island Cyclone (1927). -
Got back from the park a couple hours ago. A few miscellaneous observations: 1. Operations were terrible today. Stacking and double-stacking at El Toro, Nitro, and Bizarro. And most of the delays were solely the operator's faults. Conversations instead of checking harnesses were the biggest issue. 2. The C train on Nitro is still unbearably shaky. I rode it in the front row, and the vibrations through the seat were so bad it hurt my back. Whatever "fix" they made has already come undone. 3. The park really needs a cosmetic overhaul. Today was the first time I truly noticed, but most of park is very dingy. 4. Despite all these warts, the park still has the best damn coaster in the entire world in its repertoire. El Toro was running incredibly today. I sat back row (as per usual) and came fully out of my seat on all the drops. I usually get great ejector air, but today's was magnificent.

Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
Genx24 replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
A friend of mine who thinks he's an enthusiast, but is so obviously GP: "They should connect Kingda Ka to Green Lantern because they're both green." "They should make Nitro a stand-up." And the best: "They should build a coaster that is two way transportation between Great Adventure and NYC." -
Going to parks alone?
Genx24 replied to alilstronger's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Going to a park alone is like seeing a movie or going out to eat alone. It will only be awkward if you make it so. Or if you try to get on waterslides. -
Oh I'm certainly going to go there with the proper mindset. I've never been out West so it will all be new to me, and I always have fun on roller coasters, even crappy ones. I'm sure many of these complaints are part conjecture anyway. No park can be that bad, right? Operations has its ups and downs, and the park does make weird decisions in ride maintenance and using more then one train *sometimes*. I've experienced amazing operations and really bad ones. If the park is busy, regardless of operations, Flashpass is worth the cost. If nothing else, you just get to have a more relaxing day. I plan on using the money I save on admission (I have a season pass for GAdv), to buy the gold flash pass just to play it safe.
