  1. Crowds on weekdays after 5 are usually light. By that time most of the camps and people who got there at opening are gone. Biggest waits would be at Ka/Zumanjaro, but thats due to the newness of Zum and the diminished capacity of Ka in the wake of Zum's opening.
  2. This seems like such a great event. Hopefully it turned out successful enough for Cedar Fair to bring it to their other properties.
  3. Saturday is usually the busiest day of the week. Wait times are usually 1 hr+ on most of the coasters.
  4. I meant unique to the area, but it is larger than the Kilamanjaro safari, and I am not sure if the Kilamanjaro one has the rest stop where you can get out and feed the animals, enter an exhibit and the other little things it has. It does not, but if it did you wouldn't have to pay for the activities.
  5. To whoever said GAdv's safari was "totally unique", Kilamanjaro Safari would like a word. As for a hotel, I wouldn't stay there, but if it increased revenue and led to park expansion I'm all for it.
  6. Agreed. I'd like to see them put a new coaster over in Movie Town. There is a nice chunk of space between the former Chiller spot and the abandoned Old Country section. I can see them adding a new coaster there in order to revitalize Movie Town, seeing as it is almost abandoned and quite creepy at night.
  7. Weekdays at Knott's during October are dead due to schools being in session, in addition to Knott's Scary Farm being around. However, be advised as the park will close earlier in the day in prep for haunt if you go Wednesday-Friday, but you shouldn't have a problem riding everything you want multiple times. Thanks.
  8. thanks for your help man, i appreciate it. definitely have to keep that tip about riddler in mind.
  9. I have a season pass for my home park (Great Adventure) so I might use the money saved on admission to get a flash pass, but then again I'm going to be a single rider all day, so maybe not. Do most of the coasters have singler rider lines?
  10. Thanks, I just looked up the calendar myself. I might be able to squeeze in a visit on Friday, October 10.
  11. The park is only open Friday-Sunday in October except for Monday the 13th. If you get a Flash Pass, be aware that the Fright Fest mazes are added to the Flash Pass during event days, and due to a supposed limitation with the device, some coasters will not be on the Flash Pass on those days in order to make room for the mazes. I found that out the hard way a couple years ago. Also, Colossus backwards has always been a staple of Fright Fest but will be closed. Oh wow, I didn't know it only operated weekends during the month, so thanks for that. I might not even be able to visit now.
  12. Fright Fest starts on 9/27 so any day after that (Except for Monday 10/13 which isnt a Fright Fest day) will be busy. Generally speaking, the earlier in the month the better. The closer to Halloween, the busier it gets. As far as which days are busier, it is Saturday > Sunday > Friday. How would it generally be during the day on say either a Tuesday or Wednesday?
  13. Hi everyone. I'm going to be in southern California in early October. What are the crowds usually like on a weekday during this time? I plan on visiting Magic Mountain in addition to Disneyland and Knotts, and figured this would be a good place to ask when would be the best day to visit. Appreciate any help.

  15. My friends and I stop at Wawa every trip before heading home. Only place we get food at because the food in the park is inedible.
  16. went down to the park yesterday. ended up being one of the best trips ive had in years. operations seemed better than usual. the coasters are still all great, but zumanjaro is slowly becoming a gem for me. what a rush. overall just a great day all around. lower ride counts than usual bc i didnt arrive at the park until after 5 pm, and a big chunk of time was spent queuing for zumanjaro. Ka 1x Zumanjaro 1x El Toro 1x Bizarro 2x (why is this ride basically neglected by the GP? its so damn good!) Batman 1x Nitro 1x
  17. I really hope they scrap the paintball idea, it sounds poorly thought out, and with some of the clientele GAdv attracts, could end up being dangerous. They need to junk that eyesore of a paintball building and re-open Dream Street to its former glory.
  18. I feel like I'm in the minority, but I don't mind that the two rides don't run concurrently. Not having a Ka train come overhead as you drop doesn't take away from the thrill of the plunge. It didn't for me, at least.
  19. I didn't find Hydra sluggish at all. I'll take a solid floorless with two good drops and inversions over a bland hyper with one decent section of airtime any time. Just my preference is all.
  20. I'm not really clear on this since I haven't been on the ride yet. Is the shield you're talking about over the loading area, not at the top of the tower? If so, what's keeping them from putting some netting beside the top hat track at the top of the tower and completely eliminating the danger? Also, don't the gondolas themselves have a clear plastic roof directly overhead? Wouldn't that also protect riders? The screen is in the loading area. It folds back and forth over the station depending on which ride is running.
  21. I haven't been on Steel Force in almost 10 years. The last time I rode it, it was my first hypercoaster so I didn't really have much to compare it to. I found it to have tons of airtime while being glass smooth. I plan on hitting up Dorney again sometime in the next year or two and I'm interested to see how it compares to the Intamin and B&M mega coasters I've been on. It definitely doesn't compare. The drop is like coasting down a hill on a bicycle. There's absolutely no " force" on Steel Force. But it does still run pretty smoothly for being almost 20 years old. Next time you get to Dorney, definitely prioritize Talon, Possessed, and Hydra over Steel Force. Hydra over Steel Force, seriously? You are very sadly misguided. I'd ride Thunderhawk before Steel Force.
  22. I agree, those return hills pack a little punch, but they don't make up for the first half of the ride being decidely average.
  23. I got 3 straight rides in on Nitro at closing last week. Breaking the week-long drought by heading back down to GAdv tomorrow haha.

  25. Well then they should look at SFMM, I really doubt this would sway nearly as much as SEFK and LL. I was just throwing out an alternative theory, but it is most likely due to the state putting its foot down.
