  1. Heh, everyone says that about the FL summers...I guess I really can't say what my opinions are of them though since I've only ever been here in June, never July or August yet. Either way, God created air conditioning for a reason! Joe "loves it hott" C.
  2. Ugh I hate that park. I was there on Thursday and JUST wanted to get my season pass processed but of course the processing office was closed (before we got there at 3pm) because "they sent em home early since there weren't many people getting them" or some lame line. Whatever, so we told her we were going to SFMM in two weeks and we lived in Orlando and were leaving that night so she was actually cool and had someone in the office take our picture but it wasn't until the end of the day she could do it. Yay, three hours in SFoG hell. But wait, there's NO ONE HERE. In fact it was supposed to close at 8pm but there was a sign announcing 6pm as the new closing time. Cool, let's ride Acro. Ride closes for weather. Hmmm, a quick turn of the head skyward reveals bright sunlight, and some white whispy clouds. Maybe they can't run Acro in nice weather? Who knows, either way, EVERY MAJOR RIDE was down from about 315pm until 540pm. It rained at about 400 until 410. Why in the hell were the rides closed for that long? No other park in the planet would have done that. I hate that friggin park. Thank God for its cheap season passes though. Joe "bitter about not getting to ride Acrophobia" C.
  3. Second week in May? I'm pretty sure BGT says it's not opening until May 19 or 20th officially. Hope you can get some soft openings! Or maybe change your plane ticket? JC
  4. My friends were there today (Saturday) and they said it tested. Maybe they closer they get to opening, the more they're going to test it. That would make sense. Anyway, the ride pretty much looks exactly like I thought it would. Obviously the reverse chain drive isn't it normal operation mode but other than that, it looks great! I really can't wait to take my first ride, front row- left. Looks like it'll be a winner - and another great coaster for my randon visits to BGT! Joe C.
  5. Is it just a mob scene at night with long lines everywhere, Elissa? Or just obnoxious kids everywhere? I would love night rides! And you mention a coupon they put out a while ago...I guess I'll step out here and ask if anyone has any leftover from when they printed em...and if so, if they'd be so kind to give us one. I guess another question I had is what major rides are going to be down in that time. I'm assuming everything is starting to open back up at DLR because it's pretty close to the May 5 celebration. Is Deja Vu open? Xcelerator is over it's short rehab, right? Thanks for the tip about SFMM, anyone else care to chime in, please do! I haven't been to Cali since 2002 and some of us in the group have never been there so we'd like to get everything in! Joe
  6. Yo all you West Coast peeps, some friends and I are headed out to California in less than three weeks. Specific questions I have are: SFMM is open til 1am on Fri, Apr 22. I'm assuming this for some heavier attendance due to some event there, like a Christian Gospel Fest or something. Has anyone attended on this day and if so, how was it? Were crowds well behaved or was it total chaos? Also, does the park empty out at like 11pm or so? Anything to help with this day is MUCH appreciated. Disney/Knotts on a Saturday...is this to be avoided at all costs? I know they are crowded but is it worth going to Disney on a Sunday instead of Sat to get lower crowds? Is Knott's THAT BAD on Saturday? It's open til 10pm, when do the crowds disperse usually? What is the absolute cheapest we can get a Knott's annual pass right now? Any other tips you guys have in mind can't hurt. We have accomodations covered, and we're all set at Universal too. We don't need any admission tips other than the Knott's annual pass. Thanks guys! Joe C.
  7. Quiet, Brian. The adults are talking.
  8. Funny, I FLY out of my seat on Revenge of the Mummy three times during the coaster section. I'd say there's definitely a chance of some nice airtime on IJ. The new system they use is light years better than the previous trains Premier designed for the park. JC PS Elissa, I would think you would have loved this addition - seems kinda on park with Kanonen in the respect that they're both very short height wise but solid layouts. What doesn't impress you about it?
  9. Heh, well it's not my video, Keith did everything. I just get to share the bed with him. The park originally was going to have it painted yellow, but after seeing how bright and attention grabbing it was on the ride animation, they decided to go the route of ash gray - a very wise choice, I say. Joe "just a bit over two months to go woohoo" C.
  10. I got the time off from work for Friday, Apr 15 for Silver Dollar City and Celebration (that day)...I am seriously pumped for this coaster! Also, as a bonus, I'll be experiencing OzCat for the first time...I hear nothing but good things. Joe "man, 2005 seems like it's gonna turn out some winners" C.
  11. ^It's supposed to be like asphalt. I think it works really well since it's not really all about the ride "track" as it is about the ride experience (focusing on the scenes and such). Joe "maybe a small yellow stripe down the middle would be cool though" C.
  12. How cool is it that the car *doors* will have to open for you to get in? I am *loving* the new Premier rides, and we haven't seen the last of 'em yet. Joe "2006, baby!" C.
  13. ^Keith and I are the same way - we are absolutely obsessed with Mummy. We'll literally go to Universal Orlando JUST to ride Mummy and leave sometimes (if we're busy, lol). Living four miles away has its advantages! Joe "dammit, I haven't been on Mummy in like two weeks!" C.
  14. I'm almost postive that is standard operating procedure for ALL parks. I know from working at SFGAm that anything you find gets turned into lost and found and they try to match up items with their owners - and mail it out free of charge. Heck, I remember my string of losing my wallet a lot back when I was younger at parks...Cedar Point and SFGAm both mailed it back to me with everything in tact, free of charge. Then there was the time I lost my cell phone on Phantom's Revenge and Kennywood and they mailed it back, completely smashed and all! Joe C.
  15. Yep, you're right, they have all new harnesses this year on those three attractions. For those who rode Batman - was it running as insane as it was last year? I don't know what they did last year but it was by far the best Batman rides I've ever had on SFoG's version. My friends said it wasn't running as well but I wanted to hear what others thought. And woohoo to Acro spinning again. I missed that. Joe "can't wait for '06!" C.
  16. ^^That would be a terrible move if they took out Camp Jurassic. It's honestly the *best* "young adult/kids" area I've ever seen at a park, including the much hyped Paramount Parks. Sure, those parks have more rides, but there's so much cool stuff to do in CJ. Now as for them taking out P-Flyers, I can see that (and think they will) but that's more because of its capacity. I think they'd add something else for the kids to do if they removed it as well. A shame, too, because it's a fun little ride. Joe
  17. LOL to Bort. One of the funniest Simpsons moments, I tells ya. Joe "Come along, Bort. Were you talking to me? No, my son is also named Bort." C.
  18. Hmmm, now you've got me interested in Skydiving. I mean, I know I want to do it, just had no idea where any were and at what price they were at. What kind of Cast Member discount is there, by the way? I noticed that it's $155 if you go with four people, not too shabby actually. BTW, I noticed you work at Dragons, Eric. Are you full-time? Maybe I'll stop in on Sunday and say hi. We're going to BGT tomorrow since I have Thurs and Fri off. Oh, and about the main topic...yeah, done that four or five times now. It's the best when it's free. Usually they'll let IAAPA attendees ride it for free. I think the best is when you do it solo - no one to console you up that high! I've decided that I won't ever pay for another skycoaster again unless it's the Kissimmee one. There's nothing like it! Joe
  19. Damn, well congrats to you! My first coaster (when I was 7) was BTMR at Magic Kingdom (WDW) and I almost pissed my pants. I can't even IMAGINE going on Superman for my first coaster at that age! Joe "actually, I can't believe it's been that long since SRoS came out...where does the time go?" C.
