  1. I am wondering of the people that love this coaster; how tall are you? I am 6' tall and found the lap bars way too tight. Kind of made any airtime less enjoyable. Im a shorter guy at 5'6. I find that a non-wheel seat reduces the amount of thigh pain to well within my own tolerance. Not saying that the coaster is a B&M Hyper by any stretch of the imagination in reguards to smoothness, but it certainly more intense than any of them. The seats didnt orginally have padding and once it was added it didnt leave much room for... well.. riders. I could see it being a tough ride for the taller among us.
  2. Well, maybe I am the problem. I'm not saying I dislike Magnum by any means, in fact I went back for re-rides. What I am saying is that even with all these re-rides, I just didn't "get" Magnum. For me, there was no airtime to speak on the first curving airtime hill, and the long hill before the turnaround was slightly better, but just light and floaty, not extreme by any stretch of the imagination. The return bunny hops just didn't deliver to me. I much prefer the bunny hops on B&M hypers. Maybe I caught in on a bad day- the day I got re-rides was rainy, overcast and about 70 degrees. There was only one train running, but I ride on what I was told is the "magic seat," 1-3. Nothing about the ride felt "extreme" to me (Maverick's two airtime hills are what I would call more extreme), and none of the hills were any more than floater airtime. Not saying Magnum's a bad ride at all, and if it's your favorite ride at the park (or even your favorite coaster), that's great, I'm glad you really enjoy it. That means is shorter lines for you while I'm riding Millennium Force and Maverick. I will agree on the first few hills being a bit light on the airtime. However, I think they were designed to feel huge rather than deliver air. The return run is where they give you the airtime. The 1-3 magnum seat is a myth. Try riding in the middle row of the last car (6-2). Smooths out the ride and changes some of the sharp ejector that some people complain about into more suitable ejector. I think you'll enjoy it more of you give it a ride there. Magnum is not a fan of the rain. The first rain drop closes it because of the nature of its safety brakes unless they go down to one train. I would avoid maggie on a rainy day because even if it does open, she doesn't ride well. I hope next time you have a better experience.
  3. If Magnum doesn't have enough airtime for you, you are the problem. Magnum has insain airtime. Infact, many people think the airtime on the return run is TOO intense (But then say GK is forceless ). Maggie is arguably one of the best coasters in the park. In my opinion, its likely one of the best coasters in the world. But then again, I'm a big fan of Arrows.
  4. Its awesome to see big coasters decked out with cool lighting. Millenium Force is a prime example. Hopefully this one looks great as well.
  5. I have to agree with everyone, the food at Cedar Point isn't great. If your willing to make a 15-20 minute trip, Chet and Matt's is probably the best pizza in Ohio. Mac and Cheese Pizza? Yes Please!
  6. I think most people that have ridden the beast know that it would honestly make for an aweful RMC conversion. First off, its already a great ride that is already one of the best known coasters in the world. Second, the layout wouldn't really lend itself to RMC. Lets be real, there isn't much you can do with the existing structure. Son of Beast on the other hand would have been an incredible RMC.
  7. The sole purpose in creating this account was to leak that information (hence the username). I'm unable to give any more details but based on the guessing so far (Vekoma Tilt Coaster?!) you guys are way off. Don't worry, "phantom rumors" become reality around mid summer when markers appear but even then there will be stubborn users who refuse to believe 2016's addition will blow others out of the water. The markers are already begining to appear! Clearly this is a Cedar Point / GADV colaboration project.
  8. I think it would be appreciated more, but I think enthusiasts would still rip on it. I think there are probably a considerable amount of CP fans that would take that trade XD
  9. LOL maybe freak is in your username for a reason. Yes, I've been to Cedar Point. A dozen or so times. Which is why I think what some of you "seasoned visitors" are saying is ridiculous. Those that visit regularly should know this. Honestly Cedar Point is probably one of the biggest parks I've ever been to around the globe. Haven't checked but I'd say it's bigger than Magic Mountain. It takes FOREVER to walk from Mean Streak to the front of the park. OMG!? What are they gonna do?! The park is on a peninsula! And surrounded by a lake!!! BUT it's on a freakin' huge peninsula. The park is not going to run out of room for roller coasters within the decade. They're not gonna run out of room in the next 2 decades. The parking lot is big enough to park cars on the busiest day. The land is big enough to put coasters anywhere. I think the higher ups at Cedar Fair will figure it out as time goes by if it even ever gets to that point. They're not dumb. I can't decide if you guys don't understand the actual logistics of theme parks or just like to go extreme and speculate about what will happen in 1000 years when we're not even around. Where if it's the latter, fine. Have fun speculating. I've got no problem with that. But it's not like the park will implode with coaster overabundance and visitor capacity in the next 20 years, will not be able to exist, and nobody who manages the place will know what to do. Sorry to burst any bubbles, but --actually, no--- I'm not sorry to burst any bubbles. I'm sick of hearing these "going to run out of room" discussions that are delirious. First and formost, making a personal attack on MagnumFreak is stepping outside of the sense of humor clause. You do not have the right to make personal attacks on this site. I dont mean to backseat mod, but as a member of this site (and society at large) lets please keep all comments respectful. You make a completely uncalled for jab at MagnumFreak, he feels weird about it, other members feel weird about it, and you completely discredit your argument before anbody even has the chance to read it. Do you see why this type of comment isn't cool? Cool. In my next point, Im going have to completely disagree with everything you just said. I worked and lived at Cedar Point. That means Ive spent every single day (even if I was off) at the park, like it or not. I can absolutely assure you that these massive empty plots of land that you speak of do not exist. There is not a single part of the park that I can think of where a full sized coaster can be built without removing something. I would argue that the park has ALREADY run out of space for the most part.
  10. It doesn't get much more intense than the BTR clones. Anyone who has been on them knows that despite the small size, they are incredibly forceful and snappy. A backwards Banshee, however unlikely, could not be discredited based on intensity. However, Great Adventure did a short test of Medusa backwards (not open to the public) and decided that it was too intense for the public and scrapped the idea.
  11. The commons Dorms are usually full by mid May. The rest of the employees are put into Cedars. Thats maybe a couple hundred employees. They would without a doubt need to add an additional 200ish beds to Commons before they could logistically remove Cedars. Thats not a cheap move for the park, so Im sure Cedars wont be removed until they have an addition worth the extra money to build a new dorm. However, I can assure you that Cedars won't last another 10 years. Its definately a question of when rather than if.
  12. The issue with tearing down Cedars is that you then have to build new dorms. Those employees have to live somewhere. That is a big investment in itself. My guess is that Cedars' days are numbered, but not quite yet.
  13. 1. By the time the new attraction would open, it would be 3 years ago. As a point of reference, Millennium Force, Wicked Twister, and Top Thrill Dragster were all built in a 4 year span. By that mark, GateKeeper and "DiveHawk" in 3 years wouldn't be unheard of or even really that surprising. 2. First off, they are not getting Rougarou. "Rougarou" has been there since 1996. Paint is considered regular maintenance because when paint stats to fade there is a decrease in protection from rust. Switching the trains is clearly only a fraction of the cost of a new addition. The investment here is so small on the scale of additions that if anything, it really is only happening to put something "new" in the commercials. This would hardly be any reason to delay a new major attraction. 3. When those parks have attendances that match Cedar Point's, they will get more frequent additions. They will never match Cedar Points, thus they don't get new additions as often. This is basic business sense. Putting new rides into a smaller market park devalues the possible return on investment. Lets say you have two parks that each pull (for the sake of numbers) 100 guests per year. Park A has not added a new coaster in 7 years and park B hasn't added a new coaster in 3 years. If your research has shown that a new coaster would increase park A by an additional 10 guests per year and park B by 12 guests per year, which park are you putting the coaster in at? Especially if park B is charging more at the door the boot. Now it is clear that new rides must be added periodically to keep the public interested, but they are not needed or expected at nearly the same intervals at smaller parks. 4. Time isn't nearly as important as timing. Here are the years that every recent Cedar Point coaster was built: Iron Dragon - '87 Magnum XL - '89 Mean Streak - '91 Raptor - '94 Mantis - '96 Millennium - '00 Wicked Twister - '02 TTD - '03 Maverick - '07 Gatekeeper - '13 There have only been 2 times since 1987 where the additions were 4 years apart. However there have been 4 instances where attractions were added in a span of 2 years. Therefore by this flawed logic, this dive coaster would be, historically, 1 year overdue. What you will notice by analyzing the years of additions is that there is no real pattern. As somebody who studies informatics, let me reassure you that this list of numbers has no meaningful correlation or pattern. Don't take this post the wrong way, I'm not attacking you, I'm just tired of hearing these same 4 flawed arguments being thrown around with no real evidence to back them up. The reality is, if Cedar Fair thinks now is a good time to add a coaster in, they will. 2014 was a tough season for Cedar Point. Attendance was down significantly under projections. It wouldn't surprise me if the time frame for the next major coaster was shifted to try and boost attendance.
  14. Its hard to tell from that angle if these trains will have seat belts. Anyone know if that has been announced? I know most other B&M hypers don't have them, but times are a changing. I apologize if I'm asking a question that has already been answered and also for opening/re-opening this can of worms.
  15. ^^ Because they went bankrupt and stockholders damned the installment of "Goliaths" or something like that.
  16. I love old Arrows. The hypers and the loopers are some of my favorites. Gotta say, Vortex at Kings Island is a fantastic ride. Creative layout, all sorts of forces, and pleanty of inversions. I enjoyed it more than Banshee. Skull Mountain at Great Adventure is another guilty pleasure. The last row has an incredible pop of air time. The rest of the ride is fun, fast paced, dark, and usually has some crazy music playing. Cant help but laugh at the giant pumpkin in the helix. Why is there a giant pumpkin in a mountain? Better question, why are there two? They also throw in a strobe light... during the break run. Anti-climatic, but funny.
  17. Every piece that goes up gets me more excited for this thing. Happily making the 16 hour drive for it. On the topic of why we have to bring up the fact that its going to be relatively forceless, its because this is a discussion website. Not a praise anything with a track site. Discussion includes positives and negatives. Overall, we obviously know this is going to be a fantastic ride, doesn't mean we can't speculate what the ride experience will and will not have. That is found in any enthusiast hobby from wine, to food, to cars, to cigars.
  18. But if she were to get hurt or was killed on the ride her family would be screaming "Why didnt someone stop her from riding? Even THE MANUFACTURER SAID DISABLED PEOPLE LIKE HER SHOULDN'T RIDE! OH GOOD LORD BABY JESUS END THE MADNESS! MAKE RIDES ILLEGAL! THINK OF THE CHILDREN!" Luckily, she was just embarresed instead of put in danger. Alot of these news stories come up, but its not like Six Flags keeps these policies a secret. I absolutely commend the park on keeping the woman's safety ahead in priorities than ensuring she buys a season pass, or sonething.
  19. The absolute worst part about this is that Divehawk 223 isn't too much of stretch.
  20. Gotta hand it to B&M, even if the ride is forceless, it looks stunning. Absolutely an artistic achivement in amusement rides. That turn around/helix looks amazing. Yeah, the helix is going to leave a lot to be desired, but damn it looks good.
  21. I can get behind this change. I mean at least it will look cool and add to the PDC atmosphere. Plus, its a carnival ride at a carnival. At least they are admitting it is what it is.
  22. Lets just turn Raptor backwards and call it a day. A B&M dive coaster would be cool, but Cedar Point really doesnt need one. At $15 million, I doubt Cedar Point would be getting anything spectacular. An Intamin woodie would be more ideal but less realistic. However, speaking of realistic, Carowinds is building a 325ft B&M giga and Lagoon is building the worlds tallest coaster with an inversion entirely in house, so...
  23. If you count the bizzaro re-themes, those are the worst. It just made the rides look bad and opend up a can-o-tacky to them.
