Well, I appreciate you posting the info! If you hear any other rumors, you know what to do It is a little unfortunate how slowly this park is improving. I'm not complaining by any stretch of the word, but for a park that is so much better than it was five, six years ago, I can imagine the park could do very well with just a little more capital. It's just a lot of off-years that make a decent impact -- what can they do with more than a couple million in a year?

^This wouldn't surprise me at all. 2017 would be Wild One's 100th, but I assumed that if that were to be a focus, it would just be a re-track and fresh paint. Maybe this project concerns the other wooden coaster and a special company making its way around the chain I still think the park could use a Skyscreamer though. And sorry, what do you mean by "tide 'em over"?

Kingda Ka totalled $50 million after two years, combined with $20 million for El Toro, the park spent $70 million in two years. That was under Premier, however, and current management doesn't really top $15 million on any park in a year, and only hits ~$90 million for the chain annually. Bottom line, unless there is another change in management or the park starts absolutely raking in profits, a giga coaster is out of the question. (Yes, this is official info. Great Adventure released it during this year's Winter Adventure)

I apologize for a few weeks of inactivity. I've been finalizing the changes for the '99 season, but I've also been just ridiculously busy in the real world. Those that have been through Spring of their junior year know what I'm talking about. As for the park, it seems the country has been stricter with height limits, as they returned the parks' proposal allowing only a 175 ft attraction. No word if this impacts the new additions.

How many coasters does Cedar Fair have "Hawk" in the name? +/- the number of "Goliath" coasters in the SF chain. It is kind of silly in Cedar Fair's case, but SF's "Goliath" makes financial sense. Don't ask why, it's been debated countless times. -

I believe it's actually DiveHawk 223. It's from the "leaked" height of the dive coaster (223 ft) combined with a satirical mock of Cedar Fair's naming tendencies. Oh and it will be red or blue, guaranteed. All hail Dick Kinzel. -

To me, and it seems many others share the same opinion, Fury looks like a more complete, more "developed" version of Leviathan, if you will. I'd be really interested to see how B&M further evolves their giga coaster model in potential future projects. And I wholeheartedly agree with the above posts. Fury looks like an insanely "fun" ride; it may not be (and certainly isn't) another I-305 or Maverick, but it doesn't need to be. Enjoy the ride for what it is, don't complain about what it isn't. It's all in good fun to compare and rank coasters, but at the end of the day, it's a roller coaster. Just ride it and appreciate that it was built; it doesn't need to be the best OMFG insane coaster to be enjoyed. -

^Not trying to argue your opinion (and I haven't ridden Fury), but what Giga coasters are about the airtime? Millennium Force has about three airtime moments, Leviathan is about the same, and I-305 is three hills plus very quick pops in the transitions. I completely understand that if airtime is your thing, this might not be the ride for you. Although, I just don't know if it's fair to say this coaster lacks airtime for its track length as airtime isn't what the ride is trying to achieve. -

^What leads you to prefer Raging Bull to Fury? I haven't ridden either, but even Fury looks to have more airtime than Raging Bull (more airtime hills) and is much longer, twistier, etc. Genuinely curious. -

There were complaints about the helix being slow and uninspired, whether or not that today or just in general. But I agree, from what I've been reading it seems the relentless speed is the high point for this ride. -

For those that that went today and have been to Cedar Point, which would you say makes more of a "statement" walking to the gate -- Fury or Gatekeeper? Both rides look absolutely stunning, and Gatekeeper is one of the most aesthetically pleasing coasters I've seen in person. -

For those that have ridden Millennium Force, how would you compare? Personally, I rank MF right about even with I-305 for completely different reasons. Can anyone chime in with a similar viewpoint? I really hope to make it down to Carowinds to ride this in the summer. From these reviews, it sounds mostly positive. Glad to hear the additional track length comoared to Leviathan doesn't drain the speed too much by the ending. From what B&M has been doing recently and the way this coaster is designed, I don't think its much of a surprise that it isnt balls to the wall OMFG insane the entire way. I absolutely love intense coasters (El Toro, Maverck, I-305), but a coaster does not have to be insane to be a great coaster, IMO. If all holds true, it looks like Fury could make up for the lack of sheer intensity in just pure "fun" factor. Shout out to Carowinds on this one. -

This entire ride is just completely italicized. That looks badass. -
From my experience at last year's opening day, it was hit or miss. Ka will be open this year of course, but some rumors say Nitro may not be operational. Can't say for sure, though. In general, it's an okay time to go, depending on the weather. Operations were pretty average, food service was awful, etc. I'd say it's worth a visit to check it out without being packed, having not been for so long. Your call.

Just relaying an idea being tossed around at GAH, perhaps this isn't only Batman backwards, but the re-opening of Old Country along with another Larson flat ride (Tilt a whirl or Flying Scooters) in the currently abandoned section, anchored in 2016 by either a dark ride or a new coaster? Being incredibly optimistic with that one, and frankly I don't see it happening this late in the offseason, but perhaps there's a twinkle of hope; a vision to slowly inch Great Adventure back to where it was in its best days. ...or it's just reversing the trains on a 22 year old coaster. 'MERICA!

^So... you're saying the only accurate measure of a ride's success is the smiles on the faces of less than .01% of riders? Way to completely discount the opinion of the group that really matters to the industry. -

Holy crap it's Cedar Point 2.0! Maybe that first rider auction thing? Or was that for after media day? Anyhow, it isn't too often than 100% of the riders have a huge smile across their face on the brake run. Regardless if this coaster lives up the nit-picky, ridiculous, and in some cases flat out unrealistic (Ejector airtime? Really? Are you aware of the manufacturer?), the ultimate goal of roller coasters is to be flat out fun, making you feel like a kid again; and it looks like this coaster does it better than just about any other in the world. In my book, that's the best measure of success. Right on, Carowinds/Bolliger&Mabillard. Right on.
