  1. At this point, I don't know if the posts are trolling or autism in its purest form. Feel free to remove this if it's too harsh, but I don't know what else to say anymore.   2. I was actually wondering this. I assumed it was true because everybody's accepted it for quite awhile now but I think it's a fair point to raise.
  3. Yeah, for sure... but that had nothing to do with what he was talking about. He's talking about what's important in a multi-million dollar refurb like the ride is undergoing right now. They're not changing the theme back to Superman for the purposes of "enhanced rider safety." And yes I realize there are laws against T-bars here, but there are always modifications that can be made in some fashion.
  4. I think this topic will be very easily confused with best roller coaster. I bet were going to be seeing more than a few I-305's, Mavericks, El Toro's, Outlaw Runs and Fury 325's. Just a hunch.

  6. ^You don't know that parks won't ask RMC to go over 200 feet, it very well could be that they just haven't and haven't needed to. Goliath was the only one where they really wanted the height to be a standout feature, but they gave RMC serious limitations with space and budget. It could also be that they're realizing the more compact wooden coasters fit way more elements at a lower cost and smaller size, so there's really no need to go so big. It's just a different style/design choice and could very well have little or nothing to do with the engineering of it. That said, I do agree with you on all points. Son of Beast was just stupid and never had any chance of being successful unless they waited a year of two for the Intamin pre-fab (which could've been absolutely amazing).

  9. Many of these maneuvers are likely impossible with dive coaster trains. They have to account for the possible range of speeds the train could be traveling if the MCBR were lower or didn't always bring the ride to a standstill. Look--it's a dive machine. The ride was originally designed to be literally just a vertical drop and a curve into the final brakes. Cedar Point needs the ride to be high capacity so the MCBR had to happen, and really any extra track is just icing on the cake. If you want a lengthy multi looper you shouldn't be looking at B&M dive machines.

  11. No idea, but even if it is it's possible that Leviathan's final brake run will still be higher. (I'm actually serious) Valravn's is taller than Raptor, right? I think Leviathan's is within like five feet of Dragon Fire. Leviathan's is still the most ridiculous brake run ever though.

  14. ^It's elsewhere in Mexico, and from the sounds of it is the reopening of an SBNO water park. It's not affiliated with Six Flags Mexico (other than being run by the same chain).
  15. Well, they do get 20+ million a year, that is true. After looking at the kids page, I can see where people get these rumors from, but at the beginning of his posts, he specifically says things are rumors. Also, on CoasterFeed's post, he said he mixed up the websites and his source was The Railer from GreatAdventureHistory.com . Anyway don't trust any of these Instagram accounts unless they are proven to have an "inside source". "The Railer" (just a username Railer) is not a trustworthy source, to say the least.
  16. The ride itself is amazing and *enthusiasts* love it. Enthusiasts don't determine whether a ride is successful for a park though. There's a reason that after 18 years, Volcano can easily have a 90 minute wait while I-305 is a two train wait. And very little of that is capacity--I-305 often runs one train. It's all about ROI and evidently it wasn't what Kings Dominion was hoping for it to be. But regardless the park still doesn't *need* a new coaster. Attendance isn't plummeting.
  17. Hmmmm... Before anyone says anything else, this has nothing to do with the hyper coaster Cedar Fair "owes" Kings Dominion. Nothing.

  19. ^Right because Cedar Fair is just so keen on their anniversaries. Kings Dominion broke the bank for their 40th--they spent, what, $2 million? Seriously anniversaries mean absolutely nothing to most parks and I don't know what makes you think they'll get a coaster because of an anniversary. If they do get something big next year it has nothing to do with an anniversary.
  20. A launched B&M flyer just might have the worst capacity of any B&M anywhere. The trains would have to be way shorter because B&M trains are super heavy (hence Thunderbird) and launched coasters are just naturally lower capacity anyways because of the blocking system. Tack on the super-slow loading of flying coasters (at least at SF parks--there's a reason Cedar Fair stays away from those) with 4-5 car trains... That's not even considering whether or not it's realistic to launch a flyer at all because of the position of the riders. Similar to how Falcon's Fury rotates to perpendicular before braking, and how uphill launches (like Lightning Rod) can't be as powerful because it's working against gravity. Excuse the physics talk but I don't see a launched flyer anytime soon. I'd love to be proven wrong though.
  21. Bizarro moving has been a "rumor" since like the day after it opened. Seriously there's nothing pointing to it leaving other than not being quite as popular as some of the other coasters (I bet if you saw ridership numbers you'd realize it's way more popular than you'd think. Even with inchworms operating the ride it probably does 700-1000/hour when it has any sort of line). I have a STRONG hunch this "removal" is like Ryan said--way, way less significant than you guys are making it out to be. I'm talking neither the go-carts, the simulator building or the Batman arena. Like maybe the remote control boats near Skull Mountain.
  22. AKA: A super long, drawn out pull out, and pull up with will cause the coaster to be absolutely forceless. . . I actually don't think there's been much complaining about this coaster at all on this thread. And it actually looks like a pretty late pull out, just a bit of a flat section before the next element.
  23. There had been two in the area. One was removed, but the other remains. There is also another still located in Frontiertown.
  24. Track style also has a lot to do with forces and cost. Millennium Force alternates between box and triangular track the entire course until the brake run. The Superman trio alternates between triangular and flat track. I-305 and Skyrush both have double spine track until the brakes because they're ridiculously high on forces. Dragster and Kingda Ka both go box track straight to flat track. They probably figured out that this track style configuration is the most efficient for the ride in each specific area. There's no reason to have box or double spine track if you can have track that's far less expensive when the forces are low (like on brake runs).
  25. This. 1000x this. What's even weirder is that there's nothing against naming two rides the same thing, so they could've just as easily named it "Dodgem." But they had the genius idea of differentiating them (which would be fine, had they not...) by calling it Dodgem 2.
