  1. I hope they keep the stand up trains, the park has enough sit down loopers.
  2. While I think it's unlikely, it isn't impossible given the way Six Flags has been homogenizing its parks. Typically SFMM has been immune to such homogenization, avoiding copy and paste rides like Sky Screamer, Super Loop, Gerstlauer Spinner etc; But now with a new CEO and SF wanting to reduce capex, we could see more copy and paste attractions at MM starting with this year's JL. SF could easily pack up Green Lantern and move it to GE or SFA and put an S&S 4D in its spot. It'd be a way for SF to essentially get two "new" additions for the price of one and assure a return by putting the S&S at the bigger park. Though a free spin is probably twice the footprint length wise as Green Lantern, they'd find a way to squeeze it in. Or possiblrly put the S&S in Deja Vu's old spot to get some life into the back of the park. This is all hypothetical and I think unlikely to occur. That being said, I'm probably in the 99th percentile of folks who'd hate to see GL leave. It does hurt at times, but it's such a weird, crazy, intense experience.
  3. Did anyone on these boards buy the Switch, and if so, impressions??
  4. It should've been "Catch me on rides, how bout dat?"
  5. So Arashi has the seat rotators in the station like the one at SFFT. Gradv's doesnt, interesting...
  6. I feel bad for kids that didn't get to live through the SNES era
  7. The Switch is sold out everywhere, undershipping per Nintendo's usual
  8. Even more proof why SFOG got the hyper instead of Stl, yet people will never let it go
  9. Profit isn't just about money earned, you have to factor money spent/invested as well. If CP earns $27 million but spends $20 million in capital expenditures, while MiA earns $2 million but only spends $300,000 in capex ..MiA is more profitable. prof·it ˈpräfət/ noun 1. a financial gain, especially the difference between the amount earned and the amount spent in buying, operating, or producing something Which takes me back to my original point of why SFOG probably got the hyper "that belonged to SFStl". While there's a chance SFstl might turn a bigger profit, SFOG probably brings in more money overall which is why they changed plans, to ensure a better ROI It would take CP a year to pay off a B&M, while MiA would take like 20 years. Even if MiA's profit margins are much higher
  10. Even though I despise SLCs, I felt like they could be halfway decent rides with trains that track smoother and vest restraints.
  11. Of course Goliath's layout was designed for specifically for SFoG, that's common sense. In 2004, SF Corporate had plans drawn up for SFSTL's own layout of Goliath at that park. As plans were moving forward, corporate last minute in 2004 had plans drawn up for SFoG Goliath concept as well and went that route... The way St Louis locals talk about this, they make it sound like the track was already on its way to St Louis and they re-routed the truck to Georgia. Plans change all the time, we're just not aware of them. If anything SF made the right decision as SFOG is the more profitable park. I understand that, maybe profitable was the wrong verbiage. Just like MiA is reported to be more profitable than CP, but CP brings in more $$$ which is why we see more rigorous investment in CP. I think it's the same case with OG vs. Stl, probably not as huge a discrepancy but SF definitely invests more in OG and it's been that way for a long time. I think the hyper was placed where SF felt they'd get the best ROI, not because they wanted to play favorites.

  13. The restraints on Skyrush are probably the worst of any coaster I've ridden, but it's such an awesome ride that it doesn't matter
  14. So I take it they'll be adding significant height to Hurler (ala NMS) since they're starting so early. Great to see Cedar Fair finally on board with RMC. Then again they may have been aboard for years but played it extremely coy
  15. Nobody is asking/entitled to have a $20 mil B&M or Intamin. Ever. Just the other day someone was begging for a Wing coaster. Scroll a few pages up, there's nothing but belly aching in this thread. First GA hasnt gotten a "nice steel" investment since Goliath over 11 years ago. DDD is another low capacity, low cost ride like Joker. And will people please let the whole Goliath was for St Louis thing go?? Is there any proof other than speculation that this was supposed to happen?? When I visited SFOG, Goliath looks like it was tailor made for OG. It weaves in and out of the park etc; And if anyone has been screwed over the past decade or so, it's been Gradv. They have the 2nd highest attended park in the chain yet they havent gotten a "nice steel" investment since KK. They also got a used coaster, super loop, JL, and 4D. Pretty much on par with St Louis, yet they probably bring in 3x the guests/$$$
  16. Getting BoTW on Wii U as well, can't wait to play
  17. SFStl getting a 4D is actually pretty decent considering the park doesnt pull the same numbers as SFMM, SFGradv, SFGAM, SFOT etc; Heck I think SFNE, SFFT, and SFDK, SGOG, get higher numbers as well. Considering SF's flagship parks are getting Jokers and Justice Leagues, not sure what logic would lead anyone to believe St Louis is entitled to big $20 million B&Ms and Intamins.
  18. Didnt someone post a while ago that rides like Apocalypse and Ghostrider got rough quickly because the structures were built to withstand seismic activity, so the track takes a bigger beating because of it?? But then again, Colossus was never as rough as Apocalypse and neither was Psyclone IIRC. Though they were both built before the '94 Northridge earthquake so possibly codes got stricter. The whole saga of Apocalypse is weird, from it being constructed in the same exact spot as the beleaguered Psyclone, to turning a pukey white color, to being the roughest POS in the park.
  19. ^At first I thought the green and purple supports would look good. They actually look tacky, wish they would've just kept the Gradv color scheme. Ah well
  20. Chickie and Pete's crabs fries were great, though the sweet potato fries with maple dip were stupendous!!!
  21. I honestly think corporate (which is run by bean counters vs Cedar Fair which is run by a former chief executive for Disney) just squeeze every dime they can out of this park. The park prints money without them putting in much effort. Put in a new ride every two years, paint the ground near the entrance and VOILA! They like seeing those huge returns from MM, so as long as they can get away with giving MM meager maintenance budgets and still get 3 million guests through the gate a year, they're content with that. Though Six Flags is known for being lackadaisical chain-wide, I think they put more effort into the other parks because they have to. MM is the only park in the chain that's exclusively a NON-family park. Ratchet teenagers don't necessarily care about dirty pathways, un-kept bathrooms, etc; They want big thrills, and MM has them...not to mention the 2nd largest metropolitan area in the U.S. which to draw guests from.
  22. How do you even stand in that kind of line without losing your sanity? And heaven forbid if you need to go to the bathroom at some point. They should allow tents and/or sleeping bags in the park
