  1. All this talk about X2 has me wondering just how much more it costs to maintain versus other traditional coasters. I wonder if in future years if X2's popularity wanes, will Six Flags remove it.
  2. Viper is also on a hill so it looks bigger from flatter areas of the park
  3. Gradv needs Premier in their lives again, RMC would be nice but it doesn't seem like a top priority for a park with El Toro in it
  4. It's expensive being an enthusiast, my trip to CP and KI last may cost me over $1,000. Car rental was the bulk of that
  5. I think parks (excluding Cedar Fair) are realizing that you don't have to drop 30 million on a beemer to thrill guests. I mean just look at Lightning Run for instance, I love this new era of less is more
  6. They aren't adding new trains, they are refurbing the trains and adding better restraints. It will be an improvement tho. Well my point was that they are the only Six Flags park currently trying to fix their SLC. They tried to "fix" their GIB too
  7. True true. Then again KBF is a lot closer to the beach whilst MM is closer to the high desert. Who knows if any of this makes a difference, just hypothesizing
  8. Seems like inversions will take up the majority of the remaining construction. Looks awesome with the new wood.
  9. I don't know, but, and it's not nearly as bad as Apocalypse, but I noticed over the weekend that Gold Striker at CGA looks considerably more faded and dreary than it did at the end of last season. I dont know how much lack of rain can affect the color of wood if at all. Well not lack of rain per se, but just the general lack of moisture in the air. My skin has even been drier than normal these last few years
  10. Maybe in like 10-15 yrs Six Flags can purchase a train from RMC or Gerstlauer to be used in rotation like Namtab. I wonder if the current drought has anything to do with Apocalypse looking like death
  11. Goliath may not be a favorite among enthusiasts but it's been a huge success for MM. It's smooth, reliable, a people-eater, a GP favorite, and has a big intimidating presence in the skyline. True it'd be nice for MM to have a hyper/giga 1-2 punch line CP, CW, and Carowinds but its never gonna
  12. Couldnt help but chuckle at the article, Six Flags generates 1.1 billion in revenue and all SF can give one of their flagship parks is a looping carnival ride
  13. I'd love to see a higher capacity version of Lightning Run, maybe a racing Hyper GTX model #pipedreams
  14. Legend has it MM approached B&M first but B&M I think either wanted too much money and/or didn't feel comfortable at the time building so high. Either way I don't see how B&M could've done much more with Goliath given the relatively small space it was put in.
  15. These were all constructed and/or planned during the Premier era though if I'm not mistaken. My cost cutting argument spans across all Six Flags parks, I wasn't just singling out MM. There's been a palpable shrinkage in coaster budgets for Six Flags parks in the post-Premier era
  16. I'm pretty sure many are going to think its dangerous. I don't know if its a So Cal thing, but many many people I talk to don't like the feeling of airtime. Maybe it's why SFMM has more inversions than any other park in the world? If anything it will keep lines shorter for the ride! (dreaming, I know). If they're from So Cal, how would they even know what airtime feels like?
  17. Be interesting if MM ever put in a giga because I'm sure they would cost cut and it'd be 350ft tall with a 2500ft track length
