  4. London Grammar - Metal & Dust (Switch Remix) lots of rock fans on this board, huh? anyone into indie rock/electronic?
  5. 5 or so years ago, but in front of the Great White, in the zone.
  6. SFGA. April12th/Opening Day weather permitting.
  7. Bummed as I think its going to make the tower look cluttered, I liked the minimalism of it. Opening day just three weeks away, getting way stoked.
  8. Agreed that it is almost painfully slow after the MCBR but I still think its a solid coaster.
  9. Agreed. Rides so smooth and is a solid fave of mine @ the park after Nitro and El Toro.
  10. I posted about this in the introductions thread, but I grew up spending summers in Wildwood, NJ and always rode any and all coasters (and most other flat rides, as a kid) that were there, and still do. I avoid most of the flat rides now as a few years ago I realized I can't do anything that spins anymore (Tea Cup rides, Tilt-A-Whirl, etc), it just doesnt agree with me. Have yet to trip a spinning mouse and have mixed feelings about the idea.
  11. Led Zeppelin - Fool In The Rain
  12. Super stoked to report another DVD just arrived (Volume 5! my fiance wanted a POV of Great White since its her favorite coaster) so slowly working on getting the whole set! Cheers!
  13. Nitro. Perfection. Everything a coaster should be.
  14. I forgot to mention the last two posted here ^^^ are from the following (sunny) day.
  15. First time uploading photos here so apologies if I did something I'm not supposed to, lol. (Are these in the right place? Do I need a caption for all of these?!) Anyways, I think I stated elsewhere on this forum that my folks live in Wildwood full time so I'm down there quite often. Actually more often off season than on, and always spending Christmas on the island, which if you haven't been off season, turns into a really quiet small town with a nice ghostly feel to it. Love it off season (except the fact that the coasters don't run, obviously). Over the Xmas 2013 holiday I took an afternoon bike ride up to the boards- that's boardwalk for you non-locals, and snapped some coaster porn as a giant creepy storm crept up the coast and right over my head (I got stuck in it and had to hide under a storefront for a half hour). Here are a few. The full set is on my Facebook page. Before you ask - yes there are filters on the photos, but very very minimal. Mostly just played w/ the brightness/contrast. Also, I can't get on the piers for close-ups and wasn't going on the soggy beach so most are from afar but I liked the way they turned out. As while I'm sure most are familiar, the coasters you are looking at are The Great White (woodie), Sea Serpent (boomerang - my first steel ever), and Great Noreaster (SLC - my fave in town, my most rides of any coaster ever).
  16. Slow day at work so I just read the most of this thread. Never been to SFA but its pretty close to home (1.5-2 hr drive) and now that Ive got a SF season pass I want to check it out this year, at least to get on Ride Of Steel (I know, I know, but its big and fast and close). Is the park really that crappy? I hadn't been to Great Adventure since the early 90s and have always heard horror stories about how awful it was but in September of last yr we went again and I was really impressed how clean it was, how friendly everyone was, etc. You guys make SFA sound like a wasteland haha.
  17. Thanks for the info on opening day. Any other experiences would be nice as well. It's almost here I think about it everyday! Getting a group of some friends together and gonna check out the scene on April 12th.
  18. I'm also recently diving back into the coaster world for the first time since I was a kid and getting familiar with terminology still.
  19. you're right sorry. its early and im just having my coffee.
  20. It is an insanely intense ride, especially compared to the other two larger coasters on the island (Sea Serpent/Great White), but I think its mostly because of how tight the layout is. I know it by heart at this point but you are dodging the supports throughout the ride. I'm sure to a first time rider its a little overwhelming. It's also got one of my favorite drops (best in the back).
  21. The new trains on the G. Nor'easter have GREATLY improved the ride. Rode it hundreds of times before and after, and the new restrains make it entirely different ride. Even my fiance, who always avoided it due to the headbanging, rode it with me last summer and couldn't believe the difference. The only other SLC I've ridden was Batman @ SFGA and hated it compared to the Great Nor'easter. I wish all OTSR were similar to the ones on the G.N.
  22. great photos! WW is my 2nd home.
