  1. Honestly, when I was there for the season pass preview, the surrounding area was mostly the same. Although the ride does look spectacular (as well as the old Hannibarrel benches), there's still out of place facades that look ugly, and the shops on the other side are still old western themed. I guess that Tsunami Soaker has brought more life into that area, it still feels incoherent and a bit uncomplete.
  2. That is correct. As of my knowledge, their plans on whether or not KK intends to get it up at running by sometime this year is unknown to the GP.
  3. The $1 drink stands are a little bit reminiscent of HW... except more expensive of course. Affordable soft drinks are always nice at a park. Are they limited to passholders? Anyways, the park looks quite nice, but from your report, it sounds like Thunder Run really needs a second train. I despise one train operations on any ride, honestly. Although the park looks nice, I probably won't take the trip down until 2016 when T2 and the Twisted Twins reopen (with a RMC remake hopefully). Very nice TR!
  4. I legitimately hate Mt. Olympus with a passion. When I went in 2012 (I think), everything was trash. Hades was completely miserable, and quite literally ruined my entire day. Zeus was miserable, Cyclops was actually pretty decent, but Pegasus was unbearable. Honestly, the worst part about Hades isn't the ride. It's the fact that there is only one train operating on a 4min ride with incredibly slow ride ops. What would have been a 10 minute wait at a Six Flags park with two train operations was an HOUR LONG WAIT. The line wasn't even long. The go-karts also looked miserably slow, which prompted me to avoid them. The only thing that was halfway redeemable in the entire park was the wave pool. Both the body slides as well as the one slide I rode on the slide complex scraped up my back pretty badly, and even the wave pool left some pretty nasty cuts on my feet. I'm never going back to that place unless new management steps in. Seriously, if you're going up to the Dells, go to Noah's Ark and hit up the S&S wooden coaster at Timberfalls. Also, Paul Bunyons is by far one of the best restaurants I've ever eaten at (as far as how fun it was).
  5. Great TR! It's been a long time since I've been to Holiday World (4 years... before I was an enthusiast). However, these pictures of the Voyage make me want to go down and ride it! Admittedly, 9 year old me chickened out of The Voyage, so I've never gotten to experience it, but with Kentucky Kingdom a short drive away, a weekend visit might be in the making!
  6. Glad to see KK up and running again! Lightning Run looks fantastic, and I can't wait to get down to the park and check it out. Other than that, it's been announced that T2 will open next year, and Twisted Twins will be opened the following year. Out of curiosity, did T2 ever provide an enjoyable ride experience? I assume that the ride will just be getting the new trains from Vekoma with the vest restraints, but do you guys think that could actually save an SLC?
  7. Wow! The entire park is looking really great. I do agree with a lot of the other comments on here saying that the park really needs some more shade, and even more so in the water park. However, it's been really exciting to see the process of bringing the park back to life, and the fact that it's open again truly is amazing. The water park looks like it has a great selection of previously existing slides as well as some excellent, new slides from ProSlide. Deep Water Dive looks insane (on a level of Veruckt), and the entire water park should be a crowd pleaser for years to come. As far as the dry side of the park goes, I'm really glad to hear that Lightning Run is providing a good ride experience. It looks great, and hearing that it has some great airtime makes me hope that models like it will come to my local Six Flags one day. It is a bit worrying that LR had a 2.5 hour wait. Although it was the first day of operations, I hope the park has enough capacity to fit the local demand, especially in these first few years when they're down two major attractions. Overall, this park is looking really exciting, but I don't see myself going there until 2016 when all the major attractions have been reopened.

  9. Hey, my school will be there on the 23rd and I'm a passholder. Do I just flash my season pass to ride?
  10. I like both. Having it on the forums is a great way to get discussion going about the park, which is a lot of fun in the short term. However, putting it on the park index allows us (and non-TPR readers) to simply click on the park and see all of the trips that TPR members have taken there. This would allow us to get a feel of the park before we decide to make a trip to it.
  11. The crew at Freeze can hit interval but, the ride computer doesn't like when we have two transfer tables moving at the same time. We learned this last week and the crew got a little bummed out about it as they really enjoyed having both tables moving at the same time. Glad you guys had a great day That must be something new. When it first opened we had no problems moving both transfer tables at the same time. The issue started last year. They thought they fixed it in the off season. We were able to do it for one weekend before the ride decided it didn't want to do that anymore. Unfortunately it's a difficult issue to troubleshoot but, we hope to be able to do it again. Funny, I've been riding Freeze for five years and don't remember both moving at once.
  12. I'm in the parking lot of GAm right now. My orchestra was here for three hours since we had a competition beforehand. Goliath truly is a beast of a ride, and I can't wait to get down to ride it this summer! Other than that, the only ride I got to ride was X-Flight. Most people only got a chance to ride one ride, as every major ride had a wait of AT LEAST an hour and a half. I expected it, but it was still infuriating to experience. Besides that, the staff and ride ops were incredibly friendly despite being inefficient. I'm a bit disappointed, but I'll be back later this summer!
  13. Mt. Olympus is the only park I've been to that makes me never want to go again. Seriously, all of their rides are one train operations. That means that on rides like Hades, you end up waiting 5 minutes for a new batch of riders to get on. It's the worst.
  14. It would be frickin' awesome if this thing was up by opening day, but that's not gonna happen...
  15. Sorry, but no. I intended to get down there, but my little sister had other plans, and my Dad wanted to get out of the park by 5. Sorry! Also, I saw HWFan at the park when we upgraded to the season parking pass. He was super awesome, and his crew did a pretty good job getting everybody through the line! I forgot to say hi, but hopefully I'll run into you next time I'm there.
  16. Here ya go. I was with my Dad and little sister, so I didn't get a chance to go over to the Tsunami Soaker and take pics, but from what I saw from Skyscreamer, it looks quite nice. Sorry I don't have much, but here's some pics from the new bar/grill (I apologize for the bad pics, I was in a hurry to get a ride on Mr. Freeze). My notes from my trip today: Boss was only running one train. According to a staff member, there wasn't enough people to justify two trains, but the 35 minute wait in the station says otherwise. With my abundance of time waiting, I timed the time between dispatches. It was appx. 4 minutes between dispatches, so 24 people (I think that's how many are per train) every four minutes resulted in awful capacity. Freeze was also only running one train, but could have done with two easily. Wait was about 20 minutes, so not too bad overall. For some reason, the ride felt a lot rougher than in past years. Boomerang was down still. Not that I really cared, but my little sister wanted to ride it. Screaming Eagle and American Thunder were down to one train operations. Screaming Eagle was fine with one train, but one train took 5 minutes to dispatch from the station. I think it was only a 15 minute wait by the time we rode @ 3pm. American Thunder would have benefited from a second train, but I'm also really impatient, so.... I also rode the Mine Train, which was one of the few coasters in the park running two trains. The ride felt a bit smoother than it did last year, but that's just my opinion. By far the shortest wait in the park. On to pictures! Overview of the whole sports bar. Coke Freestyle machines in the back (that's $90,000 wasted on something that's not a coaster!) Poor quality picture of the menu The employees were changing the 5-6 TVs to what the customers requested. Pretty cool IMO.
  17. I'm on Sprint. Miraculously, I found some 4G at the Boss station.
  18. I'm at the park now, and the operations today were ok. They kept running every other train on Boss empty, Freeze, AT, Eagle were running one train, and loading was a bit slow. That being said, luckily the park isn't too crowded. Also, the whole pass processing at the gate wasn't bad, but I can imagine that the whole ordeal slows down the line when the park gets pretty busy. When I get home I'll post pics of the new sports bar, and Tsunami Soaker if I have a chance to get down to that end of the park.
  19. Great trip report Andy! I really loved the variety of food at the park myself when I visited last summer. My biggest gripe was the wait at Crossroads Pizza. They were busy, but that really wasn't an excuse for waiting 45 minutes for pizza at an amusement park. Other than that though, I really love SDC. The park's theming is amazing, and the way they use their terrain to hide their big rides really add to the immersion. When I went, I rode Fire in the Hole twice on two different days in the same seat. On day 1, I didn't get wet at all. When I rode day 2, I guessed the water feature had been taken out, so I ended up getting an unexpected mouthful of nasty tasting water. Also, I wasn't that big a fan of Wildfire. It might have just been me, but other than the airtime on the first drop, I really didn't find the ride thrilling. Thanks again for the pictures of the best park in Missouri (despite my gripes)!
  20. Robb, I know you said this isn't on topic, but I would like to point out that there was a pretty good coaster building app for 99 cents that was released around the 3rd iPhone generation. It was actually completely customizable as far as the track went (no terrain features except trees), and it had a really great way to share your tracks with the other players. Then the developer ditched the game and the community went to s***. It was called Aircoaster. Here's a YouTube video: As you can see, it's not the prettiest game, but it was a decent track simulator. If you still have an older Apple device that it runs on, it's definitely worth the 99 cents.
  21. Dragged one of my little cousins to the Dragon Coaster @ Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, paid $4 per person for a ride. So I ended up paying $8 for a kids credit. That's about it for me though.
  22. Hey, TNT! You said a while back that you would try to get us some info on what coasters will be running one train on opening weekend. Do you by any chance have an update on that? Thanks.
  23. Of the Darkness, City Museum, or the tradeshow? Oh, sorry. I was referring to the tradeshow. Sorry sorry sorry. I freaking love the City Museum.
  24. This is weird. I'm a lifelong St. Louisian and I've never heard of this place.
