  1. I know this a little off the topic of your "track style superiority" debate, but what do you guys expect to see happening to T2? If Ed does end up keeping it, I can't imagine he won't purchase some of the new SLC trains (http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w293/tonygeardguinan/walibiworld180907049wi4Small.jpg) While I think a suspended coaster is a great fit to the park, I would disagree that T2 is the right coaster to fit that role. If anything, I wouldn't mind seeing a B&M inverted ride going up, but I doubt that. Considering the history of the park, we'll probably end up getting a refurb of T2 or something from someone that we've never seen before. Thoughts on what the new addition will bring?
  2. I'm fine with slower operations. I really despise the people who expect everything to always be perfect at every park. Although, I'll admit that one-train operations on longer rides such as the Boss (or any ride at Mt. Olympus...) do get quite annoying sometimes. Interesting. I didn't know that was done. Do you know which rides (if any) will be down to one-train operations on opening day?
  3. A long flight and 3 hrs at the City Museum is tough for anybody. You could definitely roll with your current itinerary, but you might miss a coaster @SFSTL without a Flashpass. I'd agree that day 1 sounds pretty tough with at least 7-8 hrs of travel time.
  4. Hopefully it's terrible so there aren't any lines. Sorry ride ops who have to stand outside...
  5. I know a lot of people will disagree with me, but Wildfire isn't all that great. While it's certainly smooth and forceful at some parts, I found that my rides weren't anything special. I've ridden Hulk as well, which is rougher but more forceful and (IMHO) more fun.
  6. We've completely side tracked this thread for our personal use. Bwahahaha. See you there. Also, have we ever done a TPR meetup at the park? That would be really awesome.
  7. Cool beans. See you on opening day probably!
  8. So we've met before. Remind me to say hello next time!
  9. So if you work on the Boss, does that mean we've met at some point?
  10. If the log flume froze over, we chunks have an ice skating party. If Tidal Wave froze over, we could have an ice skating party on greenish-brown ice!
  11. All the rides will be covered in ice. That makes them go faster, right?
  12. TNT, There's an abundance of jobs I can apply for next year (15 y/o), but I'll definitely go for ride op at 16
  13. If the ride operates without too many issues, this is definitely my pick.
  14. Operations will be slower than normal. Remember that opening day is the first time some people on the crew have worked with guest, trust me an empty train is faster to check and clear than a loaded train. Some rides will be at a reducedI'm helping a friend with his car, I will be home as soon as I can capacity for the first couple of weeks. The park shouldn't be too busy, last season with one train American Thunder had about a 15 min. wait. So if you go opening day just be patient safety is out number one goal and we will try to move the lines along as quick as possible. Most important rule for opening day is have fun. Where did that come from Stupid iPhone Android bros 4 life! Seriously though, thanks for the info about the park. You and HWFan (that's his username, right?) represent the park and its management so well on TPR, and I can't thank you enough for that. I can't imagine this thread without you guys! (Psst... Hey, if I keep sucking up to you guys can I get a letter of recommendation in a couple years when I'm old enough to work there? )
  15. Just wondering, can somebody tell me about the quality of the park operations on opening day? I know that SFGam is pretty notorious for slow crews and one train operations opening weekend, and I've never been to SFStl during the opening weekend, so any advice about what I should expect is greatly appreciated. Also, how crowded has opening weekend been the past few years?
  16. Both Zeus and Hades were pretty brutal in 07. Heck, they were both brutal the year before Hades "renovation".
  17. Anyways I found this in a video of the top rated coaster's on the planet. This person is referring to Robb: Can ANYBODY see ANY resemblance with Robb and Andy Samberg? IDK, can you?
  18. Cyclops also needs a complete retrack somewhere down the line, but just fixing a couple parts should work for now. Also, I think some new padded trains might be a nice addition. Honestly, Pegasus just needs to be torn down. There are no turns to "fix" because every single time the ride changes directions, it hurts LIKE HECK. Just tear it down and replace it with another crappy coaster. It's probably better than the miserable existence that is Pegasus. Zeus is actually an okay out and back. A retrack would be spot on. Hades needs some TLC from RMC, if you know what I mean. Maybe if Mt. Olympus sold all their crappy motels they could afford it.
  19. I've never really bought on-ride photos because they're always so damn expensive. That and Six Flags has removed photo booths from all but one ride at SFSTL.
  20. It's really all up to the parks around you. To my current knowledge, Cedar Fair doesn't have any parks outside North America, but you could try starting your own event. To do this, you'd either have to talk with the park about hosting an event or host your own by making everybody raise enough to cover the cost for the equivalent of Fast Lane, Flash Pass, etc. Either way, make sure you plan out everything to the fullest before making a pitch to an amusement park or rollercoaster forum.
  21. Cool. I think this year I might be able to get my family to do this event for the first time! I'll see you guys either at Kings Island or Worlds of Fun (with KI being first choice).
  22. As someone who's never been to one of these before, could someone tell me what the event is like? How crowded is it, what's the atmosphere at the event like, do you have to get back in line each time, etc. Also, how do you guys raise your funds? Secondly, maybe we should ask Robb to make an official TPR thread for this event so it can be stickied.
  23. Yes, it only has one midcourse brake run. I rode it 40+ times for media day when it opened. Once we got stuck on the MCBR. It was really awesome going through that final heartline roll at a super slow speed. What is that like, 40+ times on a ride in a single day? I love rides, but doesn't that repetition drive you crazy?
  24. I believe that Dare Devil Dive only has one midcourse brake run. There might be some trims, but I couldn't see them. I feel like a lot of longer rides benefit from a break run. i.e. The Incredible Hulk. The ride has a first great half, then takes a breather before the home stretch. However, too many break runs do break up the experience, as seen in Rip Ride Rocket (which is still a kick-ass ride).
