Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread
tarheel1231 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I really wish Enthusiasts would stop ragging on B&M all the time. Some will never be pleased. B&M builds a launched wing coaster at Holiday World: ZOMG that's boring. B&M builds a giga at Carowinds: ZOMG that's boring. B&M builds ANYTHING: ZOMG that's boring. I know there's a sense of humor rule, but something isn't funny when it's overused. [EDIT] I know there's Banshee, but the initial reaction to it wasn't very positive because many assumed it would be forceless due to the large inversions. -

Great update! Thanks for the POV. I'd love to see more footage of the coasters! -
Carowinds Discussion Thread

It will probably be on the large camel-back hill which is closer to the end of the ride. Even then, it probably won't kill the speed. -
Based on how biased the GTA's are, I'd say that the 'best new rides' category will go down like this: 1. Batman the Ride / Six Flags Fiesta Texas 2. Fury 325 / Carowinds 3. Twisted Colossus / Six Flags Magic Mountain 4. Thunderbird / Holiday World 5. Wicked Cyclone / Six Flags New England Not saying I'm agreeing with this, just predicting.

Arrows, Arrows, Arrows.....
tarheel1231 replied to tarheel1231's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^It's not the only good one, Magnum is pretty fun. Though I do have a vague memory of it since the last time I went to CP was in '08. I have a better memory of Nessie. It's a bit rough, but there was no headbanging. While mine trains aren't really 'blow your mind' good, they are good family rides. Dahlonega Mine Train is my favorite one. -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
tarheel1231 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I thought people didn't like WMG. If Cedar Fair decided to do another WMG-type dark ride........ 1. No shooting 2. Lighter Screens 3. Garner Holt Animatronics. I wonder if Canada's Wonderland was going to add some fiberglass caverns but didn't get to because of the cold winter. That would have made the ride about 5% better. -

Arrows, Arrows, Arrows.....
tarheel1231 replied to tarheel1231's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I know there's a good amount of enthusiasts that rode an arrow looper as their 'transition' coaster. Arrows are classic, it would be sad to see them get removed from all parks. Well, Corkscrew (CP) can go burn in a fire, but other than that, I hope they stay at parks for a long time. -

^I agree with you, I just wonder who'd be wiling to bring this into one of their parks. The best arrow suspendeds are usually terrain coasters, in forested locations or over water. So that kinda narrows down the list. I'd love to see one at Dollywood or SDC, since the both lack suspended coasters. They both would be great locations, I just don't see it happening. Hopefully there is one park that is listening to us that will build this great type of coaster. -
This topic is for discussing ANYTHING about Arrows. You can list your favorites, bring up news about them, just Arrows. NO VEKOMAS (I'm looking at you, Boomerangs, you bunch of........). The one exception to the rule is you can talk about bringing back old arrow concepts. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Top 3 arrows: 1. Magnum XL 200 @ CP 2. Loch Ness Monster @ BGW 3. Viper @ Darien Lake __________________________________________________________________________________________________________ S&S is bringing back the 4D concept (kinda sorta). It'd be cool to see them design an arrow suspended type of coaster. I enjoyed Iron Dragon, and I'd love to see more of these coasters.

What was your first Intamin Coaster
tarheel1231 replied to grsupercity's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I just realized that I've actually been on 3 Intamins: Woodland Run Disaster Transport (R.I.P) Millennium Force CP should have sent DT to Carowinds -
I think that Twisted Colossus will work like this (feel free to call me an idiot if you've already heard this). I think it will be one continuous track, but the load/unload will start on the blue side. When the blue side is finished, it will go onto the green side and duel the other train. After the train finishes on the green side, riders will get off. This is a bit loose (and probably stupid) but that's just how I think it will work. [EDIT] Just searched through the thread. Someone explained this on announcement day. Alright, call me idiot. )

Two that I love but everyone else hates: Superman: Ultimate Flight @ SFOG- I stood in line for and hours and a half (I'm not even a credit whore) and Superman is still my #11 coaster. I like the flying feeling and the way it interacts with the terrain (which makes me think the hate may be for the clones). It may not be unique, but it's a lot better and smoother than Nighthawk. Nighthawk has speed, but the roughness and awkward restrains make me uncomfortable. Superman is a little slow, but the speed, the restraints, and the feeling of being weightless make it better than the Vekoma death trap at my home park. Carolina Cyclone @ Carowinds: I may just have a soft spot for this coaster since it was my first inverting coaster, but I like it. Every time I read the "Next coaster to be removed" thread on Carowinds Connection, Cyclone always pops up on it. It's not the smoothest coaster in the world, but it's not as bad as Corkscrew at CP (Shudders). _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ One that I don't 'hate' or dislike', but just not a fan of it. Apollo's Chariot @ BGW: Now, I think if I ride in the back seat, my opinion might change, but for now, AC holds my #10 spot. I don't hate it, it just didn't do it for me. My ride went like this: I sat in the middle (and I only got to ride once). The first drop was pretty good. Then we went over the second hill, and it was still going pretty fast. Now I don't know if the trims were on, or if it was just the middle seat, but the train seemed to crawl back on the second half Granted that drop on the hill after the MCBR got me, but then the right started crawling back to the station. Now if I get to ride in the back seat, maybe it can beat out Intimidator/Goliath SFOG for my #2 (soon to be #3) spot.

I never actually realized that there are only two coaster like this in the country and they're both at the same park. Why did I feel like there were more in North America? This will be a people eater, since most people have never been on a 4D coaster. I can see Six Flags adding more of these to their parks.

^Sorry, I'm just a bit of a stickler on grammar. Probably a hypocrite too, since my grammar is not so great.
