  1. Will the exclusive beer time come before, during, or after the Ninja ERT?
  2. What if a Giant Man eating Hershey Bar planted the Intamin sticker on the support to throw all you nerds off the scent? The new ride is going to be the worlds largest Zamperla Volare flying coaster, I know this because the Moose out front told me .
  3. Yeah, I forgot about Formula Rossa, I wonder if that had to do with the fairly specialized custom trains?
  4. ^Yeah, I could see that, those look fairly similar to what is on El Toro now. It would be interesting to see if Intamin builds any new steel coaster trains with those restraints instead of the I305 style or if those restraints are only for retrofitting existing trains.
  5. ^ I think that with all of the incidents that Intamin has had recently with the lap bar only train designs (even though none of the incidents were directly related to the design) I would think that Intamin would be very hesitant to put those some restraints on any new ride they build. Cheetah Hunt, I305, Desert race and Rita, ISpeed, Speedmonster, Kingda Ka and most everything else new from Intamin recently has the new over the shoulder lap bar style of restraints (the only exception being the Mega-Lites but none of those are in America). I realize that some of those examples are looping models, but I would still expect I305 style trains for their future hyper style coaster installations (In America at least). El Toro's lap bar only train is a little bit different design than the Millennium Force and Dragster style lap bar only restrains. Also if I were a park owner placing the order for a new Intamin coaster, and I had any knowledge at all of history those lap bar only trains have had, I would order the I305 style trains in a heartbeat. Even though it clearly wasn't the trains designs fault in most cases why put your parks reputation on the line that another incident like that might occur when the new style restraints likely significantly decrease the chances of something like that ever happening. I may be completly wrong but that's my theory. And I love the older Intamin trains, but still think they are a thing of the past at this point.
  6. I wouldn't expect lapbars on anything from Intamin ever again
  7. I wouldn't consider this new system a "reservation system" like other parks have. I use the term "ride reservation system" as a generic term for all of the different types systems that various parks have Disney's Fastpass, Universal Express, Flashpass, Q-Bot,Lo-Q, Qtxt, Quick Que at SeaWorld parks etc. KI's system is almost exactly like SeaWorld Parks' Quick Que, and Universal's Express pass.
  8. Yeah, I understand those points and they make sense but I still think it's a little strange that no other ride reservation system in the industry (to my knowledge) has limited hours like this one does. It woulld be intersting to ask someone from Kings Island what the specific reason for the limited hours is, and also intersting to see if that stipulation changes in the future. I got a feeling there is going to be a decent amount of test and adjust with this system at all of the Cedar Fair parks that eventually implemt it.
  9. Yeah, one year i thought that house was actually really good and the next year I thought it was really lame. I think they reversed the direction you go through the house from one year to the next at some point too. Felt the same way about the Death Row Inmate house too, one year it was awesome the next year it was kinda lame. The Edgar Allen Poe House sounds interesting, although I doubt the general public will know enough about of his work to truly appreciate whatever they do with it (myself included). Wonder if the Vampires in Vegas house has anything to do HHN having some type of lady luck/gambling theme or if that is just a coincidence. Sounds cool either way though.
  10. I still don't understand why they are limiting the hours of usage from 12-7pm, anyone have any insight as to why that is?
  11. ^And the other guests! A group of TPR members is probably the most "Normal" crowd a Waffle House will ever see! The only place better than Waffle House is Biscuit World, if TPR ever winds up in West Virginia I highly suggest a visit.
  12. Are you by any chance working on a Club TPR discount at all Metro Atlanta area Waffle Houses?
  13. ^ I wonder in the initial conceptualization phases of SOB who's idea it was to go over 200 feet tall, Kings Islands or RCC'A's? I also wonder if Kings Island approached any other companies about building that ride for them, maybe RCCA was the only copmany willing to attempt building a coaster over 200ft tall. I wouldn't necessarily blame the problems directly on RCCA as much as attempting to build a wooden coaster that tall to begin with (which might have been kings Islands call). Had Gravity Group or GCI been contracted to build that ride it might not have turned out any differently. Hades and Voyage are 2 larger coasters by a more "experienced" company that have both more or less turned to crap in recent years.
  14. SO this thread hasn't had any discussion in quite a while, but right now WWE is probably in the middle of the most interesting plots they have ever put together and it all evolves around CM Punk. CM Punk won the championship last Sunday at the PPV, then walked out of the arena with the belt as his contract with the company expired. This came a few weeks after Punk was suspended for speaking out against the WWE on air, and after he was reinstated for his title match against John Cena with the stipulation that if Punk took the title away from the WWE then Cena would be fired. He has since tweeted pictures of himself hanging out with the title belt in his hometown of Chicago, at a Cubs Game, and recently crashed the WWE Q&A session at Comic Con. For anyone else in the TPR world that watches WWE, what the hell is going on here with CM Punk? This article is a pretty good rundown of everything that has transpired, as well as some insight as to where all of this might be going. http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/6784925/introducing-worked-shoot-era
  15. I wonder if it would ever be feasible to have off site parking and utilize some type of ferry boat or light rail system on the causeway to transport guests back and forth to the park.
  16. Yeah I got a a feeling that is going to be the final decision even though I'd love to see it saved. I got a feeling that some of the biggest issues with the ride were structural issues as a result of the thing being so damn big to begin with. I believe the accident in 2006 that initially closed the ride was a result of a structural failure of some kind (I remember reading the incident report on it that was posted on a government website somewhere). So if the structure can't support the ride as is then re profiling it to support the iron horse track just may not be feasible without major upgrades to the structure itself. I'd love to see it saved, and turned into a crazy NTAG kind of ride even if it were to cost 15-20+ Million dollars but in reality the price tag to do that might be much much higher.
  17. As opposed to what? Doesn't every decision at every park heavily revolve around money? Not necessarily every decision at every park, I don't see Disney and Universal sparing any expense to create high quality attractions, or even Dollywood. What I meant was that the specific decision on what to do with SOB will be financially motivated in that what is a better investment that will show a better ROI for the park in the long run? Spending money to refurbish the ride and re open it as a new attraction or spending money to remove the ride and potentially build something new in its place, which option will cost more and how much is too much to see a significant ROI.
  18. I can understand a garage being a little more expensive to maintain with the lights, elevators and other mechanical equipment etc but with Cedar Point being a seasonal park it may not be as expensive as operating one year round.
  19. Turn it into the worlds largest Ropes Course. Hike up the lift stairs, zipline into the rose bowl helix, turn the interior structure of the helix into a a giant climbing wall, then build a giant looping slide of death where the infamous loop once stood.
  20. ^There is no way that will ever happen, you know they cant get a fire truck inside that helix there isn't an access road! Besides why settle for a Zac Spin when they could easily fit about 14 Chance Toboggan coasters inside there and steal the total coaster record from SFMM?
  21. I just noticed this thread, but wow really cool layout. Glad to see B&M building a big custom inverted coaster again. Hopefully this thing has old school B&M forces, but the layout is very interesting at least.
  22. You mean, in addition to the Millions it already spent trying to make it rideable before closing it down again...? Seriously, some rides are just money pits and this seems to be one of them. Cut your losses, Cedar Fair. I love coasters just as much as the next guy but as Robb has said before, some rides deserve to come down for something new. Yeah, I realize that they've spent a lot of money on the thing to date but that was before the Iron Horse track option and new more advanced trains were available. Whatever they end up doing with the ride the decision will likely be very financially motivated. Tearing down a ride that size isn't exactly cheap, it probably is a little cheaper than refurbishing it but what is the cost difference? I think it will ultimately come down to what is more expensive tear it down and build a new ride or re work the existing ride. Besides I think that the previous attempts to make the thing re-rideable they were still using wooden coaster trains and wooden coaster track on a ride with a 200+ foot drop. They never addressed the biggest issue with the coaster which in my opinion was that it was just too big for a wooden coaster to begin with. But now the size might not be as much of an issue with the Iron Horse track. If they were to tear it down and completely start over with a new ride it wouldn't hurt my feelings, but at the same time I'd love to see how awesome it could be with a full Texas Giant overhaul.
  23. this is EXACTLY what I would like to see happen to SOB! The first drop and helix are okay as is then create a new unique crazy air filled finale after the brake run with new trains and maybe a new Rocky Mountain rehab and this thing is a top 10 coaster. SOB has so much potential to be great with all of the technology availabe now, I really hope that Cedar Fair invests in it
  24. Yeah, and telling the guests there is only a limited amount available is a pretty good sales tool. Better buy your fast lane pass now, there's only 13 left for today! Buy now!
  25. I have a feeling that there will be a daily limit to the total number of passes sold to keep that from happening. Every other other type of up charge ride reservation system that exist (to my knowledge) has limits how many passes are sold daily and I don't see this system being any different.
