Mikey's MINI Travels
Hilltopper39 replied to TheSchwitek's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That park looks like Beech Bend, Lake Winnie, and Knobles decided to throw away their trash and this place bought it all from the salvage yard and reopened it. Amazing park! And great trip report. -

If they are in fact going to remove the riverboat ride after this season for dinosaurs and build a bridge over to MILF Island you could assume that the lagoon around MILF Island would useless for any type of full circuit boat ride ever again in the future. If that does happen is there any reason that permanently draining portions of the lagoon at some point in the future to create space for a new attraction would be inconceivable? I believe that the lagoon was man made at some point in time anyways, so I think that draining it then refilling parts of it with dirt or rock or whatever could be done. The Sections under Mantis and Iron Dragon have a pretty nice visual aesthetic to them but the majority of the lagoon is mostly hidden from view on the main pathways. I could see the sections around and under the mine ride and along the border of camp snoopy being a great spot for some type of new attraction. -
From everything Ive ever heard about possible monorail expansion it's entirely a financial factor and would be incredibly expensive to add monorail to the Studios and Minimal Kingdom. While I working there I spoke to some engineers from transportation department and they mentioned the idea of a light rail train from the TTC to Animal Kingdom has been discussed and could be a possibility in the future but the cost of expanding the monorail would be astronomical. I remember hearing figure somewhere on the order of 100 Million dollars per mile? That may not be right but it's what I remember.

Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
Hilltopper39 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ Yeah I thought that when I first saw these trains as well. I wonder if Intamin is maybe subcontracting their train designs now for some reason as a result of the recent issues they had with the old style trains. Or maybe they hired an engineer away from Mauer to develop new trains for them. -
Over on Screamscape Lance said this about that picture that teaser picture was posted... "There are some nice looking demon creatures, but I’m not digging the 3D glasses looking painted red demon faces on the back wall…" Anyone else see the 3-D Glasses part in that picture? I know some houses at other parks like Six Flags and Cedar Fair have used 3-D glasses to enhance different houses in the past but has Universal ever done this? Could be cool.

Ummmmm.... "slowly? HP's collection, while not full of B&M coasters -is- one of the best collections of coasters in America- and that's a well-rounded collection from the Great Anton Schwarzkopf, through Intamin's finest. Yes, they don't have a flyer, yes they don't have a floorless- they DO have everything else, though- in all formats. Outside of Holiday World and Disney, there aren't too many parks where the collection has every single level of ride imaginable, and for every type of rider. A new major coaster every 4 years, and 6 what I would consider to be high quality coasters and 6 other better than average but really not that great coasters I would say slowly building their collection is accurate. And how does Holiday World and Disney even begin to enter the conversation about coaster collections? -
Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread

For the most part I would agree with you about the family raft slides but the one exception that I've been on is the Zoombabwae enclosed family raft slide at Splashin Safari, that thing is one of the most exciting water slides of any type anywhere to me. This should still be a great addition though, the capacity on this thing should be huge, and capacity at water parks is always an issue. I really wish some of the major water parks in Orlando (Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon and Aquatica) would ass some of these newer technology slides like the hydro magnetic rocket. As good as all 3 of those parks are, every time I visit it still always feels like something is missing. -

Looks like a bigger slightly different version of Wildebeast. I have not ridden Wildebeest or a Mammoth hydromagnetic slide, but from the looks of things I could see this turning out be a Legend/Raven type scenario for the water park where the bigger faster longer newer ride isn't as good as the original. But we'll see, it does look cool though! -

Layout looks great, trains seem like a bit of a gimmick but a pretty cool one at that, overall should be an awesome addition to the park. Hershey is slowly building one of the best coaster collections around. -
I've always thought it would be really cool to give various artists creative influence over a HHN house like this, hopefully we see more collaborations like this in the future. Rob Zombie, TOOL, and Slipknot, are just a few ideas that could probably make some really cool houses. How about a KISS Psycho Circus maze?

Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread

I would love to see a water park finally install an amusement park style ride like a log flume or a river rapids ride or a water coaster in a water park. It would be a perfect fit for a busy park, huge capacity, thrilling and fun ride, and you still get wet! I personally love water rides at amusement parks but hate getting wet and feeling miserable all day. A really good River Rapids Ride in a water park would be the perfect fit (although it doesn't look like that is happening here, I'm hoping it will eventually in the future). My official guess is that it will be a huge slide, possibly taking the worlds longest water coaster slide record away from Wildebeast, which I guess might as well be a an amusement park ride in a water park. -

I was thinking a spinning coaster might be a great addition to Holiday World, and one from Mack might be able to operate at the capacity a lace like Holiday World would need. We'll see! -

I'm interested to see what the end up going with. For certain types of steel coasters 9 million is kind of a low number (B&M, Intamin, etc), but Holiday World isn't the kind of park that doesn't usually lays up with they're new additions. I'd expect it to be a smaller family style coaster of some type maybe a spinning ild mouse, or a euro fighter, or maybe a small launched ride of some type. Although a launched coaster for 9 million might be stretching it. -
I know that the final schedule hasn't been released yet but I was curious if during the Halloscreams portion of the event will there be any officially organized group activities ( like group access to houses, group rides on coasters, or anything) or will it be just a here is your express pass go have fun on your own kinda of thing. Just curious how the Halloween portion of the event will organized since there hasn't been a TPR Halloween event to date. Doesn't really matter and I'm sure the event will be awesome regardless, was just curious.

Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
Hilltopper39 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ I think $50 is pretty reasonable in compassion to similar services offered at other parks. For $25 everyone would want to buy it and that would kinda defeat the purpose, and at $25 the park probably wouldn't make that much money off of it. -
Thanks for all the Updates Robb, it's funny you compare the Timberliner Trains to Hollywood RRR trains because that is exactly what I though when i first saw the concept drawings of those things a couple of years ago. With all of the positive reviews so far of the Timberliners from Quassy and Grona Lund I can't wait to see how they eventually handle on a larger coaster like the Voyage and maybe Hades.

^ It's nice to hear a positive review of the system, sounds like Fast Lane took what would have been a pretty average day with some decent waits and turned it into an awesome day with no waits. -

I know it is probably a little outside of the 9 million dollar price tag but I've always though it would be really cool to renovate the log flume to include an extensive multi-layer indoor section where the current old school out and back concrete flume section sits that is themed to a haunted house of some type. Have a show building sitting right where the concrete flat flume is now that has multiple lifts and mini drops and still re using the final splash down through Legend. Maybe even make it a shooting log ride of some sort, Ghost Blasters or whatever. Would be cool. -
^Yeah, I went to explore the hotel once and if I recall correctly it was $15-20 just to park to be able to walk through the place. And yeah all of the menus at the restaurants are very pricey, but it is an amazing property worth checking out if you have the time and the cash! Personally I though the ICE exhibit the year I saw it was kinda meh, it was cool for the first couple rooms then they rest is all the same and the slides are about 8 feet tall and not that interesting. The Shrek theme might make it better, I paid half price for my visit full price might have felt like a waste. Next to one of the pools there is a pretty cool natural grass (I think) miniature golf course that was free to play, so check that out too if you ever visit.
