Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
Hilltopper39 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I remember getting off that thing after my first ride opening year and actually thinking that it was a lot smoother than I was expecting ironically. I'm always sad to see any coaster go but the writing had been on the wall for this thing several years now. Im curious how much consideration they actually gave a texas giant esque RMC rehab, if any. I still think that reusing some portion of the structure (if possible) for a new coaster could have been feasible even if was only 100ft or so of the lIft hill and the station. It must have been so far deteriorated at this point that demolition was the only option, and they finally must have gotten enough extra revenue from the Dino up charge to afford the demo! -

I rode SOB in its first month of operation and it wasn't that bad, but really wasn't that good either. I thought the Gerstlauer trains improved the ride experience slightly but it still wasn't very good. Glad to seethe park finally doing something with it, hope they have something exciting planned for that area. -
^Agreed. All tattoos for people under the age of 30 in America should have to go through some type of review process where the individual tattoo must be approved by a jury of sound minded individuals, and all tattoos that are disproved get posted in a special thread on TPR . But seriously, I'm not against tattoos at all, I get it and understand the appeal of them for people, but it seems like over the past decade tattoos have gotten out of control in this country. The Denver Nuggets (and half of the NBA) should be forced to wear long sleeve jerseys.

As much as I hate Tennessee, Bray doesn't win the SEC Quarterback terrible tattoo contest, he finished a close second to this masterpiece on the chest of Bama QB AJ Mccarron....... Wow....that's turrible

With my work schedule it's about the only day I can go, I may be able to squeeze in a Sunday this year but we'll see. I feel bad complaining about ticket prices for anything ever, I mean if people pay for it good for them and great for Universal, but it just feels like HHN has gotten to a point where the experience isn't worth the price of admission. I've never even considered not going to the event, I've been every year for like 6 years or something, but this year I'm really on the fence about it. The Bill and Ted show usually makes or breaks the event for me, and it has been pretty dismal for the past 3 years. Will be interesting to see how Busch has their packages priced this year, last year they had a VIP guided tour that included admission to the event, front of the line admission for the houses, coasters, and preferred parking for $110. I guess part of the reason I'm so judgmental towards HHN these days is because the past couple of years it's been twice as expensive and half as good as Howl-O-Screams.

Why would they have to? Unless there is a warranty issue (which I doubt there is 17 years later), or some type of contractual commitment to a specified operation procedure then if Six Flags owns the ride and has for 17 or so years now they're probably free to do with it whatever the heck they want. I'm sure they would consult B&M but I doubt they would need any type official approval (I could be wrong). Sounds like a col Idea though, not sure I love it for a Batman model but it could spice up some of the other "dull" B&M's.

Oh Tennessee, Rocky Top, you'll always be, so much fun for meeeeeee to make fun of.... Tyler Bray not charged in beer bottle throwing incident, but served eviction notice from apartment complex Bray escapes justice this time, but he needs to be arrested and charged in the future for having a terrible back tattoo.....

I always loved the "Batman Building" in downtown Nashville, technically the AT&T Building. Always had a cool look to it that really stands out in the skyline of hat city.

I feel like this situation was created and covered up by a very very small select few individuals who were in positions of power (Sandusky, Head Coach, president, AD), and these select few are all now in jail, going to be in jail, or are dead. I guess I just feel sympathetic for all of the little people underneath and who have come after them that are now going to suffer through these punishments and the resulting damage to their reputations even though they had absolutely nothing what so ever to do with the crimes that were committed. Same way that I feel bad for the physics professors, and history professors and students at the University that have nothing to do with and don't care one bit what soever about athletics (and they do exists) who are now forever associated with this situation just by default. It's almost like they got the death penalty without officially getting the death penalty.

Any thoughts on the Penn State sanctions form anyone? I'm still wrapping my brain around the decision but my initial reaction is maybe it's a bit much? I mean the $60 million dollar fine isn't that big of a deal to me, but the loss of scholarships and a 4 year bowl ban for current players that had absolutely nothing to do with the crimes that were committed seems a little excessive. I mean that school and the program are going to suffer immensely from now on without the sanctions, and with the sanctions they won't recover for the better part of a decade at least if ever, it's almost like the NCAA is rubbing salt into the wounds. I don't know, I am NOT trying to defend that place at all, the crimes committed are eternally unforgivable and the men responsible for the crimes and the cover up deserve to be punished to the fullest extent of the law, but does a sophomore backup offensive guard who wasn't even in high school when the crimes were committed deserve the punishment? I just don't think so. I don't know, I feel like this whole situation is bigger than the NCAA and they should have just stayed away from it instead of interjecting themselves into the center of the attention.

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
Hilltopper39 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Sorry to bump this thread but if anyone cares it looks like the Google maps image of Cedar Point has been recently updated to show Dinosaurs Alive on Millennium Force Island, Shoot the Rapids, the Illuminosity stage, and a construction zone around what appears to be a recently removed Wildcat, kinda cool. -
Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread

I could see some type of whimsical April Fools day themed kids section working okay. A spinning coaster, a flat ride, a play structure, and some type of crazy ice cream stand and you've got your self and April Fools Section. -
Legoland Florida Discussion Thread
Hilltopper39 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
For whatever it's worth I have had several random small talk conversations recently with co-workers/customers/friends etc around here in Jacksonville who have all been to Legoland multiple times and love the place, many of which have all ready planned return trips. They probably don't advertise too heavily in Orlando because they know that market is so competitive but up here I see billboards and grocery store displays and fast food coupons on fairly regularly. -
^Since it isn't an SEC "stadium" they might sell it but since it is an SEC team playing they might not I'm not sure. I know the SEC has a no alcohol policy conference wide and at UK Rupp sells beer for events but not for UK basketball games. I had a conversation with the (former) AD at Western Kentucky about alcohol in the stadiums last year and he said it is completely up to the individual schools on whether or not they want to serve alcohol in the stadiums. Granted some cities/campuses/conferences might have rules against it but according to him if a school wants to sell beer in the games they can find a way to do it. We serve beer at baseball games on Western's campus and the AD said he was pushing to get it approved for basketball and football before he left for Ole Miss. I also remember from that conversation he mentioned that there are like 25 or so D1 school that sell alcohol in the stadiums and I think a lot of those are in the Big East. I know Louisville sells it in Pappa Johns Stadium.

Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread
Hilltopper39 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I always wondered why Kings Island removed King Cobra because it seemed to have basically all of the same qualities as Shockwave, low-cost, low-maintenance, small foot print etc. It didn't really fit the thematic direction that section took after it's removal but that could have been changed, and I feel like Delirium could have been installed elsewhere on the property without removing a major coaster. Anyone know if the trains or any of the hardware from Cobra was shipped to Dominion for spares for Shockwave?
